00:03last couple of years, Jordan Spieth has won three majors and is seemingly always in contention

00:09at the Masters.

00:10However, despite his high profile, there are lots of things that people don't know about

00:14him.

00:15With that in mind, here are 10 facts on the American Golfer.

00:18As a youngster, things may have been totally different for Spieth in his career.

00:22This is because his initial sport of choice was baseball, but at the age of 13 he decided

00:26he needed to focus solely on his golf if he were to reach his full potential.

00:30He described that moment as the hardest day of his life.

00:33Spieth comes from a long line of athletes in the family.

00:35His mum and brother played basketball at college while his dad was a baseball player.

00:39Jordan, though, is the only golfer in his family.

00:41As a child, he was known to cut the lawn at home as low as possible just so he could practice

00:46his game.

00:47Additionally, at the age of 14, he predicted he would win the Masters while being interviewed

00:51on local news in Dallas.

00:52In 2015, he achieved that prediction, winning the Masters and tying Tiger Woods' 270 shot

00:58total in 1997.

01:01He became the second youngest man in history to win a green jacket after Woods.

01:04And also in 2015, at the age of 21, he became the youngest man to win the US Open since Bobby

01:09Jones in 1923.

01:12Spieth was born and raised and still lives in Dallas, Texas.

01:15In fact, in 2016, he actually bought fellow American Hunter Mahan's house.

01:19It includes a 12-car underground garage, an indoor basketball court, a swimming pool,

01:25a golf simulator and even a wine cellar.

01:28Spieth's caddie is Michael Greller and they've been working together since 2011.

01:32Before the partnership Greller, he was actually a full-time teacher, but they have gone on

01:35to become one of the most successful partnerships on tour.

01:38Spieth got engaged with childhood sweetheart Annie Verrett on Christmas Eve in 2017.

01:43The pair went to high school together and tied the knot in 2018.

01:46They've now also welcomed their first child Sammy into the world at the end of 2021.

01:50Spieth is signed with Under Armour and has a contract with the company until 2025.

01:54He's the company's poster athlete for golf and he also has an equipment deal with Titleist.

01:59One of Spieth's most well-known friendships on tour is with Justin Thomas.

02:03But did you know they actually met when they were just 14?

02:07They met while they were representing the United States in a junior tournament in France.

02:10The two often crash with each other on the road and have occasionally hosted fake Twitter

02:16Finally, Jordan Spieth runs the Spieth Charitable Fund.

02:19It's inspired by his younger sister Ellie who has special needs and the charity raises

02:23awareness and money for kids with special needs, junior golf and military families in
