00:00Hi Anupel, Vishal from Crickinfo.
00:03How do you prepare for a team like Bangladesh whom you don't play that often in international
00:08cricket with a lot of unknown players especially in their spin attack or in their batting line-up
00:14and a team that has been scaring their oppositions in the last few games?
00:20I think we had a really good series against them a little bit over a year ago which sort
00:25of gave us some really good insight.
00:27Pretty similar team that they're coming out with in this World Cup so far so we've got
00:31some really good intel on that and can obviously look back at the game so far.
00:37As you mentioned they've done a little bit of damage throughout so we've had a really
00:42thorough look at their team.
00:45And especially you must have had a look at their young batter Shorna Akhtar who bats in
00:50the middle order at number 5.
00:52She scored a lot of runs quickly after the 40th over against South Africa.
00:56So for those kind of explosive, what did you make of her first of all?
01:00Yeah, I think she took the game on definitely which was against the grain a little bit of
01:05the way the rest of the innings went.
01:07So we've certainly had a look at her and come up with some plans.
01:12And we saw in the last game a couple of players had cramps.
01:15Are they good to go now?
01:17That's not up to me.
01:18I'm not sure.
01:19But it seems like everyone's pulled up pretty well.
01:22Now, Bal, I wanted to talk a bit about your bowling and particularly your change ups that
01:27you were so effective against India the other night.
01:29How much have you worked on those variations over the last few years?
01:33It's probably been a part of my game and yeah, probably for the last few years been a go-to
01:42just particularly with the amount of T20 cricket I've played and yeah, leaning on those I think
01:49particularly when conditions are in the batter's favour.
01:52So yeah, it's nice that it's coming out pretty well.
01:55And how have you been feeling generally with the ball and how was it to take five wickets
02:00the other night?
02:01Yeah, feeling pretty good.
02:02I feel like I've got really good rhythm and yeah, sort of coming in after the power play
02:08and making a bit of an impact and yeah, it was nice to contribute in what was yeah, I think
02:16probably generally the conditions were in the batter's favour the other night but yeah, nice
02:21to pick up a few wickets.
02:23And just as a pace attack in general, have you been pleased to see everyone making an
02:27impact at different points?
02:28Kim's been really good.
02:29She's made an impact too.
02:30Yeah, I mean that's the beauty of our bowling line-up, spin and pace.
02:35We've got sort of cover all bases and yeah, it's been really cool to see Kimmy do her
02:41thing up top and then even, you know, TMAC impacting through the middle and Shooter as
02:46well which we know what she can do so yeah, we feel like we're building.
02:51Still haven't quite had that perfect bowling performance but yeah, happy with how we're
02:56going.
02:57Just last one from me.
02:58We haven't seen much of Darcy Brown in this tournament but if she was to come in and get
03:01a game, do you see her playing a big role?
03:03Yeah, definitely.
03:04I think she's that impact player with a little bit more pace and she's got some really great
03:09change ups too.
03:10So yeah, she's definitely ready to go and be cool to see her get an opportunity at some
03:16point.
03:17Hi.
03:18So you've had a few days break after the India match.
03:22What have you and the team been doing?
03:23Has it been training only or have you been able to like focus away, take your focus away
03:27from cricket?
03:28A few went on a little bit of a trip yesterday, a bit of a day trip which I think was nice
03:36for them.
03:37I stayed at the hotel and chilled out.
03:40Bit of pool time, lots of time with teammates.
03:44Yeah, so a bit of a break from cricket, just chilling out.
03:48Coming to Bangladesh, they've put in some really good performances while the wins haven't
03:53come.
03:54For a country like them that are dealing with much smaller resources, this campaign, while
03:58without wins, how important will it be for them, especially women's cricket in their ecosystem
04:03from your point of view?
04:05Oh look, it's just nice to see the games so far across the board have been pretty tight
04:13and some really good quality games of cricket I think from my point of view.
04:16Yeah, as a cricket fan it's been great to watch and Bangladesh have been one of those
04:21that have really put it up to other teams.
04:24Right.
04:25You've had a lot of positives, we are halfway through the tournament.
04:28If there are a couple of things the team still is working on trying, as you add into
04:32the knockouts, hopefully semifinals in the final, what are some of the things that you're
04:35still working on trying to get into rhythm as you head to the end of the tournament?
04:41Oh, there's always things we're trying to improve on.
04:44I think that's the beauty of cricket.
04:46You never quite have the perfect game.
04:49Across the board we're always nitpicking and set pretty high standards for ourselves and
04:55there's always things to improve on.
04:58Hello, this is Mo from T-Sports Bangladesh.
05:03Do you think any particular plans or any key areas that will be crucial for tomorrow's game?
05:10Oh, we're probably focusing a little bit more on what we do really well.
05:16I think it's a great opportunity to come out and execute with the ball which we, at times,
05:22probably missed a little bit in the India game.
05:25That's a really great opportunity for us and another challenge against some high quality
05:30spinners as well with the bat.
05:32And you have played a different part of the world.
05:35What do you think what's most special to you personally playing in subcontinent in this
05:40Asia game?
05:41Sorry, I missed that.
05:43What do you most enjoy playing in Asia?
05:46Yeah, I think it's just a different experience.
05:49You know, you get different conditions and have to adapt quickly which, yeah, I think we've
05:55done reasonably well.
05:56So, it's another opportunity to do that on the same ground that we played on last game
06:01but a different weekend.
06:02So, we get to attack that again.
06:05Will Australia take Bangladesh lightly or challenging?
06:09No, we don't take anyone lightly.
06:12I think we've prepped really well.
06:13We've got a good training tonight ahead of tomorrow.
06:16So, yeah, everyone's really ready to go.
06:20Yeah, yeah.
06:21The conditions are favouring batters, obviously, but in the last match, Bangladesh captain said
06:25their bowlers struggled to grip the ball because of the due, the weight conditions.
06:29So, as a bowling unit, how do you prepare for such conditions?
06:32And also, the Bangladesh spinners are doing good in the middle.
06:34So, do you have any particular plan or something spoken about in the team meeting
06:38regarding tomorrow's challenges against those spinners?
06:40Yeah, I think it's just about adapting really quickly to conditions.
06:44You know, depending on the wicket you get, how much the ball's turning.
06:47I think lots of learning so far from the games.
06:51And, yeah, as a batter, you've got to have your own plan and sticking to that plan in terms
06:57of how it works and sort of, I guess, assessing the context of the game.
07:04So, yeah, I think it's just about assessing the conditions and, yeah, committing to your plan.
07:10So thank you for taking scenarios.
07:12And that's on your job.
07:27Thank you very much.
07:28Thank you very much.
07:30Thank you very much.
