00:00Starting this October, Myanmar refugee living in Thai shelters can now legally
00:05work in the country. This follows new regulations from Thailand's Interior and
00:09Labor Ministries aimed at addressing labor shortages while offering legal
00:14protection to refugees. The policy applies to over 42,000 refugees aged 18 to 59
00:21across nine shelters in four provinces. About 12,000 are ready to work
00:26immediately. They will be allowed to work in 43 provinces. Sectors include
00:31construction, agriculture, fisheries, electronics and food processing. Some job
00:36remains restricted to Thai nationals such as massage, beauty services and
00:41traditional handicrafts. The move offers legal job access to refugees and
00:45supports companies facing labor shortages. A practical step forward.
