Dans son nouveau livre intitulé “La Mission”, le journaliste américain Tim Weiner, vainqueur du prix Pulitzer en 1988, raconte les grands bouleversements de la CIA depuis le 11 septembre 2001.   Selon lui, un “démantèlement méticuleux” de l’agence est en cours, depuis le deuxième mandat de Donald Trump.

00:31He's instituted an ideological purge of the CIA's officer.

00:37If you're not on team Trump, there's the exit.

00:51Why does the CIA think diversity is important?

00:54It's not because they're, you know, woke.

00:56The CIA has this policy because sending an all white, all male cadre out to spy in Russia

01:03or China or Sudan or Pakistan is a really bad idea.

01:09Terrible tradecraft.

01:10This is an example because the same thing is happening at the FBI.

01:13The United States is not shooting itself in the foot, it's shooting itself in the head.

01:17Why is Trump doing this?

01:19Because the CIA and the FBI are the ones that reported and proved

01:23the alliance between team Trump and team Putin in the 2016 election.

01:28That team Putin helped elect Donald Trump.

01:30Trump doesn't want to hear this.

01:36The destruction of expertise and experience increases, substantially increases,

01:41increases, the risk of a catastrophic intelligence failure and an unforeseen disaster like the

01:489-11 attacks or worse.

01:50It makes the world a more dangerous place.

01:52And Trump is doing this deliberately for revenge, for retribution.

01:56I teach class from time to time, and one of the things I like to remind my students is that

02:01no free republic in the history of civilization has lasted longer than 300 years.

02:07And that was the Roman Empire.

02:09And we are coming up on 250 now.

02:13Are we going to make it?
