00:04Today we embark on an epic adventure with Exode, a French renovation company with a knack for turning ancient abodes into modern marvels.

00:17Our story features a house with a sprawling 1,500-meter square plot, standing ready for a complete overhaul.

00:23Our brave family moved their belongings from a cozy 30-meter square Parisian apartment into this massive fixer-upper.

00:31As the saying goes, go big or go home, and they definitely went big.

00:53Meet Valentin, the designer extraordinaire and friend, armed with a tape measure and a penchant for perfection.

01:02Valentin meticulously measured every nook and cranny, setting the stage for the grand renovation.

04:14To keep moisture at bay, a polyethylene sheet was laid down.

04:20For insulation, they went with polyurethane panels because nobody likes a drafty home.

04:25Joists were installed to support the new OSB flooring, preventing any unwanted sagging.

04:30No one wants a trampoline floor after all.

04:32Lastly, the ceiling area was cleared for insulation work.

04:46Insulation vats were secured with wire or netting, ensuring they wouldn't sag or shift,

04:51because a sagging ceiling is never a good look.

04:54A 6 cm layer of wood-wool insulation was placed between the rafters,

05:04ensuring the house would be as cozy as a cat in a sunbeam.

05:13Meanwhile, the stairs, those essential vertical highways, got a facelift.

05:18Renovated for safety and style, they now boast hardwood treads

05:22and metal or glass accents for that modern flair.

05:25The lower part of the stairs was insulated to keep out moisture

05:28and prevent mold from crashing the party.

05:31A layer of plaster was lovingly troweled onto the walls,

05:34filling gaps and cracks,

05:35ensuring the surfaces were as smooth as a jazz saxophone solo.

05:39Next up, the walls.

05:53Some of these were cut to install two faux stones,

05:56which were lovingly shaped to fit the prepared sections.

06:00Lime mortar, the historical house's BFF,

06:03was used for its breathability and compatibility with old materials.
