00:01Aryan Khan's much-talked-about the bads of Bollywood is making waves and not just for its comedy.
00:07The show is being praised for its bold humour, self-aware storytelling and real-life Bollywood references.
00:13But it has also landed in serious legal trouble.
00:19Former Mumbai NCB Zonal Director Samir Vankhede, who led the 2021 cruise ship drug raid that resulted in Aryan Khan's arrest, has filed a defamation lawsuit.
00:30He claims the show mocks him and discredits anti-drug enforcement agencies, seeking 2 crore rupees in damages from Shah Rup Khan, Red Chili's Entertainment, and others involved.
00:45Vankhede has stated that if awarded, the 2 crore rupees will be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for patient treatment.
00:55Meanwhile, Aryan Khan has defended the show's tone and content.
00:59He explained the real-life references were not meant to be disrespectful, but self-deprecating.
01:05He said, we wanted to be self-deprecating, but not disrespectful anywhere.
01:11So I think we maintained that line correctly.
01:14People being able to take jokes on themselves, I feel, is the first and most important thing about comedy.
01:20The Delhi High Court has now issued summons to all parties involved, including Red Chili's.
01:30The matter is set to be heard further on 30 October.
01:34Vankhede has also requested the removal of alleged defamatory content from websites and social media.
01:40As this legal drama unfolds, the clash between creative expression and personal reputation is now front and centre.
