45:42And that's just kind of where they're at.

46:00So he's being careful, but at the same time he's poking at her a little bit
46:04because he's realized how much she has lied and manipulated over time.
46:10This is definitely one of our bigger Walker sequences we've done.
46:14Of course, there's a lot of smoke and mirrors
46:16because a lot of the zombies in the herd are digital.
46:19But I think everybody does a great job of blending the real and the CG together.
46:25It takes a lot of energy and preparation to kind of get ready to do a big zombie action scene
46:32where there's this very scary kind of emotional element.
46:36But, you know, everybody is so good at what they do and they're such pros.
46:40There's a certain amount of fun for our actors, too,
46:44when they get to be in the middle of a big sequence like this.
46:46Cassidy, who plays Lydia, she's amazing.
46:50She can tap into the Lydia pain spectrum so well and so quickly.
46:57So it was really moving when we saw the footage come back
47:00and, you know, she's trying to, like, reach for the person that she loves
47:04and hang on to him through when she's bitten
47:08and through when she knows that she has to have the limb severed
47:12because she's still thinking about somebody else in that moment.

48:08and there's so many different pieces to cover.

48:14Even though it doesn't take tons and tons of screen time,
48:17a sequence like this is just very, very time-consuming
48:20to stage, to shoot.
48:24The work is meticulous from our entire crew
48:26and our director and our cast
48:28to kind of capture the vibe of this scene.
48:37We wanted to slow down a little bit
48:39the events that are happening
48:41because often when something really scary, horrific happens,
48:45people kind of describe it as, like,
48:47things almost feel like they're in slow motion
48:49or you can't quite understand, like,
48:52what real life feels like
48:53because you're just so focused.

49:00So we thought that that just artistically felt like
49:02it kind of tracked with what was happening emotionally
49:05to the characters.
49:07We definitely wanted it to feel reminiscent of the scene
49:10where Rick was carrying Carl after he was shot
49:14and it's kind of, like, the question of, like,
49:16is history going to repeat itself with Judith
49:19and what's going to happen next with her?
49:21All of those thoughts are running through Daryl's head
49:24as he's running with Judith out to try to find safety.
49:29It was really important to kind of talk about
49:35this sense of found family that our people have
49:38as well as literal families that people are fighting very hard
49:42to reunite with and preserve.
49:44So we just think that that is one of the most important
49:48kind of emotional themes that runs across the entire series
49:52and it's something that we really wanted to highlight
49:54as we kind of get to the very end of the series.
49:57And obviously, like, it ends with a very dramatic moment
50:00for Daryl as, you know, this person who is like a child to him.
50:07She means the world to him and so he's going to do everything
50:11in his power to try to make sure that she doesn't just die in his arms.
50:24So, on this scenario, we need to end this situation,
50:26but we need to end this situation soon as we have.
