00:00There was some concern that constructing the bridge over the Tanana River would impact the
00:13salmon and other resident fish that use Piledriver Slough. Fish and Game set up a study with the
00:19Saltsha Elementary School, I believe, to do a 10-year study to look into the fish use in
00:26Piledriver Slough and how that would be impacted. What drove us to do this project was a number of
00:33things. Piledriver Slough has run through our community since the start of our community.
00:39It has played a significant part in our history. I started the project as a kindergartner,
00:46so seeing my mom there all the time was actually pretty great. I could just run up and give her a
00:52hug. It came down to that if we didn't tell the story, I don't think the story was going to be told.
