00:01On this day in space.
00:03In 1964, the Soviet Union launched Boskot-1, a 24-hour crewed mission that achieved several
00:09firsts for human spaceflight.
00:11This was the first time that a spacecraft carried more than one person into orbit, with
00:14three cosmonauts packed inside the spacecraft.
00:17Only two cosmonauts were originally supposed to fly on this mission, but Soviet politicians
00:21pressured the space program to add one more.
00:24This left no room for spacesuits on board, so this also became the first spaceflight
00:27without spacesuits.
00:29Two of the crew members, an engineer and a doctor, became the first civilians to go
00:32to space.
00:33And that's what happened on this day in space.
