00:00There are three moments from the India-Taliban meeting on October 10th that stood out.
00:09Right above the heads of Taliban officials addressing the media was a painting of the Bamiyan Buddha.
00:13Built in the 5th century, the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan were once the tallest in the world,
00:18until the Taliban destroyed them in 2001, calling them a symbol of idol worship.
00:22And now, a painting of the Bamiyan Buddhas was right above their heads.
00:25At the press conference, only male journalists were allowed inside,
00:28while all female journalists were kept out.
00:31When visuals of the all-male rooms surfaced online, many questioned, why is India letting this happen?
00:36When asked about women's rights being violated in Afghanistan, this is what the Taliban foreign minister said.
00:47India avoided displaying the Taliban's white Islamic emirate flag at the Afghanistan embassy in New Delhi,
00:52as it has not officially recognized the Taliban as Afghanistan's legitimate government.
00:56However, the Taliban found a way around it.
00:59According to reports, Taliban officials placed a small tabletop flag beside them during the event.
01:03The Afghan embassy staff in Delhi were appointed by the ousted Ashraf Ghani government
01:08and continue to operate under the national flag of Afghanistan, not the Taliban's.
01:12To avoid being seen with the Afghanistan flag displayed near the embassy's front gate,
01:16Taliban Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki reportedly exited through a side gate.
