00:00In this video, I'll attempt to spend over $100 on food here at Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan.
00:06Already I've been to Disney World in Florida.
00:08I've been to Disneyland in California.
00:10I've been to Disneyland in Paris.
00:12And I've been to Disneyland in Hong Kong.
00:13But now I've come to Disney 5 out of 6.
00:16I want to know how they're doing it differently here in Japan.
00:19Are they going to slice some Ariel into sashimi?
00:21Are they going to cut Pluto into some delicious A5 Wagyu?
00:24Right behind me is the entrance.
00:26Not only am I going to focus on food today,
00:27but I'm going to tell you what to me sticks out as being different from the other four Disneyland's I've been to.
00:32And by the end of this video, I'm going to reveal to you exactly how much money I spent.
00:37The entrance is right behind me.
00:38Let's move.
00:42Already the layout here feels completely different.
00:45Usually when you walk into Disney, there's kind of like a cul-de-sac.
00:48And there's a train that goes around the whole entrance area here.
00:51It's just like a long hallway as soon as you step in.
00:53The other thing I noticed, rooftop everywhere.
00:55This is probably one of the colder, more inclement Disney parks around the world.
01:00So I guess they want to keep people protected from rain, snow, sleet, and tsunamis?
01:10The castle is gigantic.
01:12But where's the food?
01:14The first restaurant we've come to.
01:15Up here, you can see the Great American Waffle Company.
01:18Looks good, right?
01:19I got a glimpse of somebody's waffle.
01:21Wait, that sounds bad.
01:21There's a line like 200 meters long.
01:24What's going on?
01:24There's no chance I'm waiting 45 minutes for a waffle.
01:27This is going to be a tough challenge.
01:28I don't know if I'm going to have enough time to spend $100.
01:31I've only been here 20 minutes and already it's not looking good.
01:34Japan is the most efficient country in the world.
01:36And these lines are insanely long and they're everywhere.
01:39What's going on behind me?
01:40A place called the Parkside Wagon.
01:42It's just a one-off little cart with one food.
01:44There should be five people there max.
01:46Look at this line.
01:47The line is still going.
01:49I literally think people just walk around and then they see a line and they think,
01:52I should join that.
01:53And now I'm that person too.
01:54This sucks.
01:552,000 years later.
01:56All right, folks.
01:57We have our first food of the day.
01:58It is the churro.
01:59A churro that's gone on a long journey since its inception in Mexico.
02:02Now it's in Japan.
02:03And they've improved it?
02:04They're calling it a creme brulee churro.
02:06Full of strawberry.
02:07This is the first thing I bought today.
02:09$4.08.
02:10Not bad.
02:11Although it is just a fried stick.
02:13Let's go for it.
02:14That's fine.
02:18You know, I thought it was going to be like injected with strawberry.
02:20But look, it's like a strawberry flavored dough.
02:22The crunch on the outside and it's a creme brulee part.
02:25But that's kind of it.
02:25It tastes like the cherries from Captain Crunch.
02:28Nice.
02:28$4.00.
02:29It's a little bit of an appetizer, though.
02:30Let's keep moving.
02:31Right here, you can see people literally in line for popcorn.
02:36I paid $2.72 for this popcorn.
02:38I also paid 15 minutes of my life, which I hope would be worth more than that, actually.
02:44Jesus.
02:44Demon children trying to eat these pigeons.
02:46I get it.
02:46I don't want to wait in line either.
02:48I'm hungry.
02:48Why did I get popcorn?
02:49Well, I'm in Japan and this popcorn is actually soy sauce and butter flavored popcorn.
02:54Huh?
02:55Have you ever heard of that?
02:55I have not.
02:56Cheers.
02:59Buttery.
02:59Salty.
03:00These granules probably have more soy sauce on them because they're brown.
03:04There's a little hint of soy sauce in there.
03:06It's nice.
03:06This is not what I came here for.
03:07I came here to see Nemo on a piece of rice.
03:09Cool, huh?
03:10And that's what I'm going to find.
03:11Gosh dang it.
03:11The next food we eat is going to be much more substantial.
03:13Let's keep moving.
03:15All right, folks.
03:15I found something I'm actually very excited about.
03:17A food labeled as Inari Sushi Sausage Roll.
03:20Although there is no picture, it says sushi.
03:22We're in Japan.
03:23I'm excited.
03:24Also, they serve beer.
03:25Some Disneylanders are dry places.
03:27I don't like it.
03:28How am I going to tolerate all these yelling kids without a beer?
03:30One Inari Sushi Sausage Roll, please.
03:34Hey, ladies.
03:38Check out my sushi sausage roll.
03:40The price is $4.08.
03:41The same price as the churro.
03:43And the churro has no protein.
03:44This is a unique creation that you are only going to find at Disney in Japan.
03:48This is like a skin.
03:49It's called aburage.
03:50Thinly sliced deep fried tofu pockets.
03:53Flavored with soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and sometimes dashi.
03:56Beyond that, the sushi.
03:57Many people may not know this.
03:58Sushi, it doesn't mean raw fish.
04:00Sushi actually means the vinegar rice often used in something like a nigiri.
04:04Beyond that, we have a cold, shriveled dog in the center.
04:07Roll it all up and you get a sushi dog.
04:09Cheers.
04:13First of all, take a look at the circumference.
04:15A little bit of vegetables.
04:16And then a lot of rice.
04:17It's soaked with a sweet sauce.
04:19Then this.
04:20The snap of the tofu skin as you take a bite.
04:22It's the weirdest monkey roll I've ever seen in my life.
04:24Instead of tuna or salmon in the middle, it's just full of cold hot dog.
04:27Why?
04:28Because they keep longer.
04:30Here's what I like about it.
04:31Very creative.
04:32People here are thinking outside the sushi roll.
04:34So far, prices are pretty affordable.
04:36Nothing too crazy.
04:36I don't feel like I'm being gouged.
04:38Here's the thing.
04:38The yen right now is pretty weak.
04:40The power of the dollar is strong right now in Japan.
04:42It's another good reason to come here and take advantage of these people at their Disneyland park.
04:46While they rake in millions of dollars.
04:48On to the next food.
04:54Behind me, a restaurant known as Café Orleans.
04:59This is a chance for East Asian folks to get a real taste of Cajun food.
05:02Is it Japanese?
05:03No.
05:03But is it maybe going to be weird because they adjusted the food to match a palate of the people here?
05:07Yes.
05:07And that's what I'm here for.
05:08Konnichiwa.
05:10Can I please have gumbo soup with rice and Mickey Macaroon and focaccia sandwich and alcoholic beverage sherrymisu cocktail?
05:17One cocktail, macaroni, focaccia, and gumbo soup.
05:20I believe that's right.
05:21Arigatou gozaimasu.
05:22Why is she laughing at me so much?
05:28Tissues.
05:29Let's go eat.
05:30All right, folks.
05:30We have our first real sit-down meal right here.
05:32We've got actual real authentic Cajun food.
05:35We've got dessert.
05:36And we have this.
05:37A treat for daddy.
05:38And they made sure to let you know before they said the name of the beverage.
05:41It said adult beverage kiremisu.
05:42Kiremisu, usually a decadent combination of chocolate, coffee, and cream.
05:46Let's see how it tastes.
05:48Mmm.
05:48That'll get you drunk.
05:49And it'll get you something else if you have lactose intolerance.
05:52This is the gumbo.
05:59Now, it said gumbo with rice.
06:00Found it.
06:01There's a random snowball of rice on the bottom of the gumbo.
06:03Good.
06:04When I think gumbo, I think smoky, beanie, and a random assortment of seafood.
06:08We are in Japan.
06:08We've got plenty of seafoods nearby.
06:10But are they actually making this here?
06:11Where'd that seafood be?
06:14Mmm.
06:15Mmm.
06:16That's actually quite nice.
06:17I don't see seafood, but I taste seafood.
06:19It's greasy, oily, rich, beanie.
06:22You really taste that nice Cajun seasoning in there.
06:24And then plus some okra, too.
06:26I love it.
06:27Mmm.
06:28What's not to love?
06:28Then we move on to the focaccia sandwich.
06:31Quick question, though.
06:32Sure.
06:32I see some shrimp, some lettuce, and some kind of a creamy-looking salad.
06:36Is that Cajun enough?
06:37That sounds like it could definitely have a Cajun twist.
06:40All right, you beautiful Cajun fusion bastard.
06:42Let's give it a shot.
06:46Mmm.
06:49I taste shrimp.
06:50I taste mustard.
06:50There's kind of like a creamy, mayonnaise-y, mustard-y chicken salad in there.
06:54The focaccia bread, it's okay.
06:55Mmm.
06:55Mmm.
06:55It's not bad.
06:58Is it Cajun?
06:59I guess this is maybe their version of a po-boy, but oh boy, that is not a po-boy.
07:03Before I get to my dessert, I want to talk about the price.
07:05Everything you see here is $19.58.
07:08To me, that's not that bad, especially for being at an amusement park like this.
07:11Because first of all, we have an adult beverage.
07:14Beyond that, there's also this beverage, the gumbo, full of rice, drinkable.
07:17Moving on to dessert.
07:18A macaroon.
07:19I'm a big fan of macaroons.
07:20This is a food with French influence.
07:21With Mickey, it's always hard.
07:23Do you go left ear, right ear, or whole face?
07:25I'm going to go ear.
07:28Mmm.
07:29It is soft, it's moist, and it's basically a huge thick layer of sweet chocolate frosting
07:34in the middle.
07:34I know this is not a sophisticated macaron, but for like a 12-year-old, ooh, that's good.
07:38So now, folks, we really have some momentum going.
07:40I feel like we're gaining traction, but I want to see more Japanese stuff.
07:44Let's keep moving, and let's find some.
07:45I'm in line for our next food.
07:46It looks very Japanese-y.
07:48It's called a pork rice roll.
07:50Perfect.
07:51Pork and rice?
07:51What can be more Japanese than that?
07:53It's so loud here.
07:54People are celebrating with glee.
07:56I've never been more in the mood to eat a pork roll.
07:59All right, here it is.
08:01Oh, oh, you're not going to believe this.
08:06I've spotted Tinkerbell.
08:07Let's go.
08:08I want to show her my pork roll.
08:11You want a bite?
08:12Huh?
08:16I tried to show Tinkerbell my pork roll.
08:18She was not interested.
08:20Moving on.
08:20They missed a big opportunity to call it a bacon roll.
08:23They just called it a pork roll.
08:24Cheers.
08:24Okay, this is such a Japanese-ified idea of what Americans would eat at an amusement park.
08:32It's just a stick of rice wrapped in bacon.
08:34I'm not mad at it.
08:35It's good.
08:35It's porky.
08:36They got like a sweet brown sauce on there.
08:39It's not about bacon-y and full of carbs.
08:40It's something you can eat on the go on a roller coaster.
08:43Let's talk about the price.
08:44Four dollars.
08:45That makes sense.
08:45So far, the foods aren't impressively affordable.
08:47The main issue is the amount of time that you spend waiting to get the foods.
08:50But even that is getting better throughout the day as all these children run out of money.
08:54I love it.
08:55Capitalism.
09:00We've come to another kitchen.
09:02The theme here, food.
09:03I would say maybe Western or American food.
09:05They've got cheesy potatoes.
09:06They've got pizza.
09:07But here's the thing about the pizza.
09:08It's seafood pizza.
09:09That's weird, but something that's not unusual at all here in Asia.
09:12So let's try some Japanese seafood pizza here at Disneyland.
09:16One cheesy potato and one seafood pizza.
09:22Oh, it's good, right?
09:24She likes my bandana.
09:25If you guys didn't know, I got this from a sushi chef in Japan on my first trip here.
09:29So instead of being disrespectful, it's actually super cool.
09:33All right, folks, right here we have course number six coming in at $6.80.
09:38Seafood pizza.
09:39We'll get to that soon.
09:40But first, potatoes stuffed with cheese.
09:42When we try to crack this puppy out, but oh my god, not that much cheese.
09:45I'm not sure if there's a cheese shortage in Japan.
09:48Certainly not a cheese tsunami anywhere around here.
09:50It tastes like a potato ole, but they put a little bit of that cheese from the Kraft macaroni
09:56and cheese.
09:57It's fine.
09:58There's a whisper of cheese flavor.
10:01But then there's this.
10:03This is the seafood pizza.
10:05Let's take a moment to try to identify all the seafood on the pizza.
10:08First of all, shrimp.
10:09That looks like it could be a squid.
10:10That looks like it could be an olive.
10:12That looks like a bell pepper.
10:13Thank you for coming.
10:14Tomato.
10:14Thank you for your attendance.
10:15Then we've got a little bit of pesto sauce.
10:17It looks decent.
10:18Let's give it a shot.
10:22I would say it's about one step down from a Casey's gas station pizza.
10:25I had high hopes.
10:26The cheese.
10:26First of all, there's big patches with no cheese at all.
10:28There is no cheese lock.
10:29Beyond that, the crust, it's thin, but obviously this is like a pre-made crust.
10:32I know there's not some Italian guy back in the kitchen, but it'd be nice if there was.
10:36Even if a well-trained rat made this pizza, I'd be okay with that too.
10:40In the end, the price is reasonable.
10:42We were going in the right direction when they wrapped bacon around rice.
10:44What else can they do like that?
10:45Let's go find out.
10:46Today, we're on a mission to spend way too much money, but here's how you could save some.
10:51Look, I get it.
10:51Coupon hunting, it's exhausting, but that's why there's Kupert.

11:18So click the link in the description, install Kupert, and let your browser do the savings.
11:22Now, back to the show.
11:24After waiting in line for about 20 minutes, we are fast approaching Woodchuck Kitchens.
11:28We are here for something special, an iconic food that you can find, I think, at every
11:32single Disneyland park.
11:33The smoked turkey leg.
11:34But here in Japan, they do it a little bit differently.
11:37All right, folks, we have our next course right here, and it is fascinating for a couple
11:41of reasons.
11:42First of all, the iconic giant smoked turkey leg, it is, uh, what, they accidentally put
11:46it in the dryer?
11:47Now, before we talk more about the size, let's talk about the price.
11:50This whole thing right here is $6.12.
11:53Very affordable.
11:54And in fact, I also had a turkey leg when I was in Hong Kong.
11:56That thing cost three times the price.
11:58But here's the thing.
11:59It was about three times as big as well.
12:01This is some shrinkflation on another level.
12:03Let's give it a shot.
12:08It's good.
12:09It's warm.
12:09It's juicy.
12:10Look at that.
12:10Just like every Disney turkey leg, it has the distinct flavor of ham.
12:13Why do Disney turkey legs taste like ham?
12:15No one can say for sure.
12:16And it's delicious.
12:20I gotta say, I'm a big fan.
12:23To be honest, I would much rather start my day with something like this than with a churro,
12:27especially on an empty stomach.
12:28But this is not all we got here at the iconic Woodchuck Kitchen.
12:31I also got this.
12:32Now, this is what they're calling an onigiri sandwich.
12:35But what is onigiri?
12:36This is one of the iconic 7-Eleven foods that you will find here in Japan.
12:39It's a triangle.
12:40It usually has seaweed on the outside.
12:42But then on the inside, it's usually stuffed with something like tuna and mayonnaise.
12:45As you see here, beef.
12:46As you open it up, all the beef is revealed.
12:48It looks gelatinous and like it's covered in a sweet brown sauce.
12:52Beyond that, they have some vegetables here that they've blanched.
12:54Not that pumped for that.
12:55I'm okay with some of this.
12:56There needs to be a limit.
12:57And that is the limit.
12:58As always, we're gonna start with Mickey's ear.
13:00Let's go for it.
13:01Soft, tender, braised beef.
13:07It's fatty.
13:07It's sweet.
13:08It's savory.
13:09And then with that, rice is just so perfect.
13:10The rice has become so chewy.
13:12It is perfect for hugging together all that beef and holding it in place.
13:15Onigiri.
13:16It quite literally can become a sandwich.
13:20Hard to say.
13:21I've had a lot of good food so far.
13:22But this is gonna be a top contender for best food here at Tokyo Disneyland.
13:25And this sandwich is only $4.83, which is one hell of a steal.
13:29This has really hit the spot when it comes to foods in Disneyland that have also been Japanified.
13:33But from here, we are not quite to our goal of $100.
13:36In fact, I'm not even sure if that's gonna be possible at this Disneyland.
13:39The only thing we can do is keep moving.
13:41Let's go.
13:48Okay.
13:50Oh, it's not finished?
13:51Oh, my God.
13:53Here it is.
13:53Here it is.
13:55Oh, God.
13:57Huh?
13:57Okay.
13:59All right, folks.
14:04We are on the wrong side of the tracks.
14:06If there was bad real estate in Disneyland, that's where we are right now.
14:09We're supposed to be in kind of a mining cave area.
14:11It's a very dark place to get food.
14:13And the food names are very uninspiring.
14:15They have names like assorted seafood, assorted chicken, and then this special set.
14:20This is an omelet over rice with stuffed cabbage and sausage served with Mournay sauce and tomato sauce.
14:27Plus strawberry Mont Blanc.
14:29Huh?
14:29For all the beautiful splendor you see right here, it is $13.85.
14:33But what about this?
14:34This is a Kieran beer.
14:36Well, this comes in at only five and a half bucks.
14:38Cheers.
14:39Oh, yeah.
14:40Real creamy.
14:40Right here, we have the Sarah Silverman character from the candy movie.
14:43I'm not sure how that's related to all this food.
14:46It's not candy.
14:47Then right here, sausage with a bone.
14:49I don't want to see normal stuff when I come to an amusement park.
14:51I want to see you put a bone into a sausage even when it's not needed at all.
14:57It's a good sausage.
14:58It's like a Johnsonville cheddar brat.
15:00Very tasty.
15:00How far in does a bone go?
15:02Oh, that I've never seen before.
15:06That's a real bone.
15:07They repurposed a chicken bone and they put it inside a sausage.
15:10What a world we live in, guys.
15:11Very cool.
15:11On this side over here, you'll see there's a little mountain full of vegetables.
15:16Not interested.
15:17On this side, we see more of that pink sauce.
15:19Can you hear all the noise right now?
15:21There's loud music blaring.
15:23I hear trains going over the tracks every five minutes.
15:26I saw some kid get shibbed for his turkey leg.
15:28We are in the bad part of town.
15:29Let's try this out.
15:30Pink sauce.
15:31What looks to be an omelet.
15:32This is confusing.
15:33And this is kind of what I want out of trying Disney food.
15:35Let's go for it.
15:38Just because this looks like an unpalatable plate of poop.
15:42I think it's bad.
15:43I got eggs.
15:44I got some kind of a savory sauce in there.
15:46Let's move on to this right here.
15:47These are the cabbage rolls.
15:48Boom.
15:48Rice.
15:49And then next to it, you've got the egg.
15:50And we've got some pink sauce, too.
15:52And we mix it all together.
15:53Little cabbage.
15:54Little rice.
15:54Little egg.
15:54It's essentially cabbage-wrapped rice and a bunch of other stuff around it.
16:00So there you have it.
16:01It's called Special Set.
16:02And even though it looks like food meant for people with special needs, here, anybody can eat it.
16:06And I love that.
16:06I'm not sure how much more room I have in my belly, but I have unlimited space for unusual, insane menu items like this.
16:12Let's try to find some more.
16:19We have come to our final location.
16:20Right behind me, Huey, Dewey & Louie's Good Time Cafe.
16:23Here, they have something special.
16:25They have physical models of the food.
16:27Here, you can actually see what the food looks like.
16:28They got a pizza shaped like Mickey Mouse's head.
16:30That's a nice flavor profile right there.
16:32I already had a pizza, but it wasn't that good of a pizza.
16:34This is my chance for pizza redemption here at Disney in Tokyo.
16:38I'm going to jump in line, order that, and one other Asian thing and try it out.
16:42All right, folks.
16:42Right here, we have our final round of food.
16:44And I feel excited.
16:45I already showed you the food model of what I expect this to look like.
16:48And now we're going to find out for sure.
16:50But first, the price.
16:51The pizza shaped like Mickey's head comes in at $5.10.
16:54Let's take a look.
16:55Beast your eyes on that.
16:57That model looks so nice.
16:59I was expecting something more.
17:01That looks brutal.
17:02Yeah, that's tomato sauce.
17:03A small smattering of cheese.
17:05Is cheese outrageously expensive here?
17:07Beyond that, or small pepperoni cups?
17:10Corn.
17:10East Asia.
17:11Why do you love corn on your pizza so much?
17:12Did someone make you do that?
17:14And then on each ear right here, a pepperoni.
17:16Let's give it a shot.
17:16Cheers.
17:17Cheers.
17:17Cheers.
17:17Cheers.
17:18Cheers.
17:18Cheers.
17:19Cheers.
17:19Cheers.
17:20Cheers.
17:21It's a not-so-bad biscuity bread and very sweet sugary tomato sauce with what they're
17:26calling pepperoni, but it tastes more like ham.
17:28All right, maybe a little bit of corn will go a long way here.
17:32This is daycare food for kids who don't understand division yet.
17:35Should I be surprised?
17:35No.
17:36It's not that expensive, but I just want something a little bit more.
17:39Actually, I wouldn't mind spending a little bit more money.
17:41Japan is known for having some of the best food in the world, if not the best.
17:44What's going on here at Tokyo Disneyland?
17:46I was hoping for pizza redemption, and instead, I got pizza depression.
17:49Moving on to our final food.
17:50Is that a familiar sight?
17:51Inside, there is egg and chicken.
17:54It costs $4.08, like many of the other things that we've had today.
17:58So that churro that we served the day with is the same price as this, and this has meat
18:02inside.
18:03They're definitely losing money on this one.
18:04That's egg salad.
18:05Not much of it.
18:06But Japan, especially in the convenience stores, it's known for its fluffy, delicious
18:09egg salad.
18:10Here, they've missed it with a pork cutlet.
18:11Let's give it a shot.
18:16The pork is freshly fried.
18:17They're still juicy.
18:18I can taste those hot oils.
18:20It's like a little katsu.
18:21I keep calling it pork, but it's a chicken thigh.
18:22It is good meat.
18:23While that kid's having a meltdown over there.
18:26That's why you should never bring your kids to Disneyland.
18:29Look at me, keeping my composure.
18:30Definitely not screaming inside, wanting to go home.
18:34And now they've got to bring them to kid jail.
18:36Those kids are freaking out.
18:37What now?
18:38This, the bao bun, pretty soft, pretty on point.
18:40It's good.
18:43That's the main point.
18:43Isn't the best thing I've had today?
18:44I will reveal that soon.
18:46Because I need to tell you two things.
18:47One, did I spend $100 on food here among nine different locations in Disneyland?
18:52And two, which was my absolute favorite food of the day?
18:55All that coming up next.
18:57In this video, I set up with a mission to spend over $100 on food here at Disneyland in
19:02Tokyo, Japan.
19:03Did I do it?
19:04No.
19:04No, I did not.
19:05I did my best.
19:05I ate at nine different places.
19:07Much more than nine foods.
19:08Maybe 15 foods.
19:09And in total, I spent this much.
19:11Just over 80 bucks.
19:13Actually, this is probably the most affordable Disneyland I've ever been to.
19:16Except for the food.
19:17For as much as I love food in Japan, the food here at this park was pretty mediocre.
19:22I tried to find some Japanified stuff and most of it just fell short.
19:25What at least I can get behind is the fact that the bad food is cheap.
19:28Because in the USA, the bad food is somehow still expensive.
19:31But if it were up to me, I would much rather go to California Disneyland.
19:34Point two, way too many high schoolers.
19:36Is it spring break?
19:37There's people everywhere.
19:38Lines everywhere.
19:40Every line, if you want food, you're waiting in line for 15 minutes for food.
19:43Not for a ride.
19:44So these are the worst lines I've ever seen for food.
19:46Beyond that, my final, final thoughts.
19:48There is a lot of food here.
19:49There's so many places here.
19:50I could probably come back another day and actually find some better things than trying
19:54to eat pizza twice and hoping for the best.
19:55But from here, I only have one Disneyland remaining.
19:58Very exciting.
19:59Brought it in Shanghai.
20:01And am I banned from going to China?
20:02Probably not.
20:03So that's the end of this video, guys.
20:04Thank you so much for watching.
20:05I will see you next time.
20:06Peace from Tokyo.
20:09Konnichiwa.
20:12God, I ought to be a young Japanese schoolboy again.
20:15Oh, those were the days.
20:17All right, where did I park?
