Transcript
00:00Long ago, our ancestors, they knew how to live with the land and understand it.
00:09And that's the kind of things that we're trying to get back to, to help our people heal.
00:22Being people of the land, we are unlike other people who have come to make their homes here.
00:28And that is our strength.
00:32We have to stand on that firm cultural and spiritual foundation that we as Anishinaabe people are blessed to receive.
00:42We're talking about our grandmother, the earth.
00:45The veins in her body are representative of our blood.
00:50That's her vital organs, is these lakes, rivers, and streams.
00:54We are the earth. Those plants are the earth.
00:59We are them, they are us.
01:01And that relationship is there.
01:03Those are the teachers, right? Those are the ones that show us and help us to understand our lives.
01:10You want to know what it means to be who you are. Be in the place to hear them.
01:25It's the collection of pieces that lead us back to ourselves.
01:29We can choose to keep going down the path of destruction and we know where that's going to lead.
01:38Or humanity can make a different choice.
01:41Begin to go back to our natural laws.
01:44Go back to the ways that our indigenous people have always held onto and want to share.
01:49When you're given that wisdom, the intent is that you then pass that on.
02:04As an indigenous person, you have all of the knowledge. You can feel it in your blood memories.
02:08You know how to help yourself, help your community, help the earth.
02:17We have the power to do that now.
02:19Now.
02:38Now.
02:39Now.
02:40Inyo.
