00:00Mr. President, we just have two quick proclamations for you to sign today.
00:04The first, today is Leif Erikson Day.
00:07Leif Erikson was a famous Viking explorer.
00:10This is like explorer day for you, sir.
00:12Today we have your Columbus Day proclamation for Monday, which we're signing a bit early.
00:17Christopher Columbus, obviously, discovered the New World in 1492.
00:23He was a great Italian explorer.
00:26He sailed his three ships to Nina the Pinta and Santa Maria across the Atlantic Ocean
00:30and landed in what's today the Caribbean.
00:34This is a particularly important holiday for Italian-Americans
00:37who celebrate the legacy of Christopher Columbus
00:40and the innovation and explorer zeal that he represented.
00:45In other words, we're calling it Columbus Day.
00:47Yes.
00:48That was the press that broke out in applause.
01:00That was, can you believe that?
01:02I've never seen that happen before.
01:04The press actually broke out in applause.
01:07Good.
01:08Columbus Day.
01:09We're back.
01:10Columbus Day, we're back, Italians.
01:13We love the Italians.
01:14So I want to thank everybody for being here.
01:18As you know, last night we reached a momentous breakthrough in the Middle East,
01:22something that people said was never going to be done.
