00:00Have you ever driven down an empty highway at night?
00:02Just you, your headlights, and the endless dark stretching ahead.
00:08The kind of night where even the wind sounds wrong, and the silence feels like it's listening to you.
00:13Tonight, I'll tell you three true stories from people who are out there, driving alone when something decided to drive with them.
00:20You're listening to Scary Nights at Place for real.
00:23Terrifying stories that keep you awake long after the lights go out.
00:27Turn off the lights.
00:30And let's begin.
00:31Story 1.
00:32The Woman by the Highway.
00:34It was past one in the morning when I finished my shift at the gas station and began the long drive home.
00:39The rain had just started.
00:41Light but cold.
00:42Tapping on my windshield as I passed through the woods.
00:45The road was completely empty.
00:47I could see nothing but the white lines and the reflection of my headlights bouncing off the wet asphalt.
00:53Then, out of nowhere, I saw someone standing on the shoulder of the rota woman in a pale gray dress.
00:59She wasn't moving, just standing there with her head tilted slightly to one side, as if she was listening to something I couldn't hear.
01:06Primera slowed down, rolled my window a little, and called out to ask if she needed help.
01:11She didn't answer.
01:13But when my headlights hit her face, I realized her eyes weren't reflecting the light.
01:19They were black hollow, like there was nothing inside.
01:22My chest tightened.
01:23I pressed my foot on the gas and sped away.
01:25My heart was pounding.
01:26But I looked in the mirror, and she was gone.
01:29The road was empty again.
01:32I tried to laugh it off, telling myself I was tired.
01:35But when I got home and parked, I noticed something in my headlights.
01:38Wet footprints.
01:40More bare.
01:41Human footprints.
01:43Leading from the driveway up to my front door.
01:45I followed them with my eyes, until they stopped right beneath my bedroom window.
01:49The next morning, day where he gone, but every time it rains, I still check the driveway before I go to sleep.
01:56Story two.
01:57The truck that followed me.
02:00A friend of mine, Jake, used to work long-haul delivery routes across the state.
02:04One night, while driving a dark stretch of highway in Arizona, he noticed a truck behind him.
02:10Nothing strange at first until he realized it had been there for over two hours.
02:14Never passing.
02:15Never falling back.
02:16Whenever he slowed down, the truck slowed too.
02:20When it sped up, its headlights grew closer, brighter, almost blinding him through the mirrors.
02:25Finally, he lost his patience and flicked his high beams to see who it was.
02:30The light hit a large, battered semi-truck. Its front grill cracked.
02:34One headlight smashed.
02:36Inside sat a man with a bloody bandage wrapped around his face, staring straight ahead.
02:41Jake's stomach dropped.
02:42He turned off onto a dirt service road, hoping to lose him.
02:45The truck followed for a moment, then disappeared behind a cloud of dust.
02:50When Jake reached the end of the road, he stopped to catch his breath.
02:54That S when he saw it, deep tire marks beside his truck and two bloody handprints smeared across the back door.
03:00He drove the rest of the night without stopping once.
03:02To this day, he swears he still hears a heavy engine idling outside his window at 3 a.m., even though no truck ever passes by.
03:09Story 3
03:11The radio station at 3 a.m. in 2009.
03:15I was driving through the Nevada desert, miles away from the nearest town.
03:20The night sky was empty, the kind of darkness that swallows everything.
03:24My only comfort was the soft hum of my car engine and the radio playing static-filled songs from some distant station.
03:30Around 3 in the morning, the signal changed.
03:34A voice low dot com, and almost hypnotic started whispering numbers.
03:3910
03:39Laughter
03:41I thought it was just interference, until I heard something that froze me.
03:46The voice said my name, slowly, like it was trying to remember how to say it.
03:51My throat went dry.
03:53Then the voice whispered,
03:54Look behind you.
03:55I didn't want to.
03:57Every instinct told me not to.
03:59But I turned the rearview mirror, just in a fan saw a figure sitting in my back seat.
04:04A menorah.
04:06Maybe a shudder with no face.
04:08I slammed the brakes, jumped out, and opened the back door, my hands shaking.
04:14The seat was empty.
04:16The radio was still hissing.
04:18Then, through the static, the voice spoke one last time.
04:23Thanks for stopping.
04:24My headlights flickered.
04:26The dessert around me went silent.
04:28I drove the rest of the way to the next town with the radio off.
04:32And I've never listened to late night broadcasts, again.
04:35If you ever find yourself driving alone late at night and something feels wrong, trust your gut.
04:40Because on empty roads, sometimes you're not as alone as you think.
04:44Some things don't need headlights to follow you, they just wait for you to stop.
04:49You've been listening to scary nights where the dark never sleeps.
04:51If these stories kept you awake, like, share, and subscribe.
04:56Because next time, the story might be yours.
