01:11I think the Nobel Committee should assess

01:16whether there have been clear examples of success

01:21in that peacemaking effort.

01:23Awarding the prize to an actor heavily involved

01:28in an ongoing armed conflict would presumably be quite controversial.

01:32Nobel Peace Prize, of course, is political.

01:50Peace is always political.

01:52But the committee, as such,

01:54is not characterized by party politics.

01:58The candidates are nominated by individual Norwegian parties in parliament.

02:03That doesn't mean that they are representing their parties in the committee room.

02:07And certainly, the committee does not act in any way

02:11on behalf of any external institution.
