00:31Well, Victor called me up and told me to come to town
00:34because he wanted to talk about Cain,
00:36and Jack had just done the same thing,
00:38telling me to come to town.
00:40He wanted a similar discussion.
00:42They must be very threatened by Cain.

00:47I'm glad that we have this time alone.

11:58we went to the hotel that mariah was staying at
12:07and it was nice it wasn't sketchy or seedy at all
12:10okay well that makes sense
12:12mariah was on a business trip
12:14of course she would stay in a decent hotel
12:18well what happened next
12:20well the first thing we did is go to the bar the one that mariah said she got drunk at and and
12:25we showed her photo to the bartender and we got lucky he was working that night and he remembered her

12:36what's wrong what did you learn i mean the more that we learned the more i was worried
12:42that you were right and that i never should have been investigated and i mean going behind mariah's back
12:47confronting her with what we've learned i mean it could push her away even farther into the hole that she's already dug and i could lose her for good

13:00help her find peace again that kind of love that could bring her back to us
13:06but what if i risked too much
13:12you are talking as if i have any control whatsoever over kane's business decisions
13:22jill you have had a front row seat to kane's transformation into aristotle dumas
13:30you were with him when colin died so clearly you are part of his inner circle
13:35what are his plans why do i suddenly feel like i'm being interrogated you have known about kane's
13:44identity his sudden billions and yet you said nothing even after you sold the company to victor
13:52you kept it a secret why if you're going to attack me at least get your facts straight okay
14:00i only learned about dumas when i was invited to the chateau because colin was dying okay and that was
14:08after i sold the company to victor so you say oh now i'm a liar what happened to oh thank you so much
14:19for trusting me with katherine's company all right i believe you but you should have said something once
14:27you learned the truth no no he asked me to keep it to myself and i wanted to respect that and your
14:36silence could take everything from us your complicity i was not come down your complicity
14:45allowed kane to turn into a monster who seems hell-bent on getting as much power and money as he can
14:54you're saying that you don't have any remorse about that i'm saying i don't have any facts
14:59you're really okay sitting back and watching kane attempt to seize every big company in genoa city
15:07including katherine's precious chancellor industries
15:15i would never do anything that would hurt my children

15:25i worked very hard to make amends to them and we are all in a good place now
15:32yeah um the way that i see this

19:37believe it and then he pretended to be his um superior quasi-intimidating self did he tell you what

19:58why are you even here you're supposed to be in los angeles saying noah with sharon right yeah
20:04supposed to be doing that but i'm detained here because of newman family business
20:11because kane has your family all squirmy oh we're gonna handle kane

20:23i mean he hasn't even made a move i mean everybody in this town is turned upside down including your
20:28family i mean your dad he can beat his chest all he wants but kane has his cage rattled that's for sure

20:40as much fun as you're having waving katherine's name in my face do you happen to remember that
20:50katherine left kane in charge of chancellor before she died but she gave the company itself to victor and
20:59now kane is gunning for it oh you think why can't you see what is right in front of you
21:10because he's a decent man no he isn't not anymore
21:18i trust that he will make the right decision when i spoke to him
21:21wait wait wait wait wait you saw him yes we're gonna keep that a secret too it's not a secret
21:29everything i heard i wanted to check in on him see if he was okay so he was your first stop
21:37is there a problem with that ahead of your own son
21:40actually billy was there oh that must have been difficult it was damn difficult i wanted to grab him
21:56and hold him and tell him how much i loved him but he didn't want anything to do with me he just stormed

22:14you know i try to help him and i only hurt him i try to do good for him and he just pushes me further
22:20away oh lord i make my son feel exactly the way katherine made me feel not good enough

22:53i don't know i know that he's confused i know he's he's he's grappling with shedding the persona
23:02he created grappling with losing lily and the children oh well that's his own damn fault listen
23:10he is a really good man and i can talk to him and i can connect with him so i really don't think you
23:17have anything to fear so our city is in crisis and you go straight to kane
23:30you'll understand if i have trouble trusting you

23:40apparently according to the bartender and um a waiter mariah was at the bar she was drinking
23:50alone she was approached by this man they hit it off he joined her they started to have drinks
23:58together um and they really seemed to be enjoying themselves an instant connection the bartender said
24:05that makes sense i guess mariah was alone she was maybe feeling lonely she's very outgoing she makes
24:14everyone she meets feel like they're special like an old friend well yeah from what we were told
24:20seems like this was more than that um apparently they were getting intimate they left the bar together
24:30they headed upstairs one would guess that they went to one of their rooms i was afraid that it was
24:38something like that even though mariah denied it i'm so sorry oh i i know what you're thinking
24:48that they slept together but it's actually so much worse than that
25:00nikki listen to me i've heard about his intentions and that's why i'm here i they are troubling and i
25:08understand your concern but kane is deeply deeply conflicted and that tells me he is not the cutthroat
25:16you think he is no you just want to believe that because he's like a son to you he's not that person
25:23anymore he is ruthless and now that lily and his children have rejected him he is out for blood
25:33our blood the newmans the abbots maybe even the winters okay i don't want to see anybody get hurt
25:41so i'm going to do the very best i can no you're gonna have to do better than that you have to stop
25:48him whether you like it or not you may be our last hope no pressure there
25:59you know phyllis i really wish you didn't take so much pleasure in all of the trouble that kane is
26:04stirring up oh my gosh why is your dad the only one in town who can hijack every single company my
26:09dad is not perfect that's for sure but the difference is what kane is doing is absolutely
26:15diabolical and lots and lots of people are going to get hurt can i have some more syrup thank you but
26:22you just don't give a damn do you i know what i'll give a damn about a lot of things a lot of things
26:26trust me but what i don't give a damn about is your dad being upset that um someone's going to do to
26:34him what he's done to so many other people you know it's not just my dad right it's my family all of them
26:42it is me i'm sorry about that that's nice but you're still going to see this through right
26:49you know i wish you could see things from my perspective it's like i can't do anything
26:57without your judgment and you might as well put like um a choke chain on me
27:06you know i think what's really going on here is you're just upset that i'm going to accomplish
27:11something on my own you are enough what you're enough just the way you are
27:20you do not need to team up with someone like kane who's planning to go all scorched turf on genoa city
27:25to prove something that doesn't need to be proven um yeah i think i do no you don't you don't yes you're
27:33so talented and you're an amazing mother okay well i'm not really an amazing all i ever hear from you
27:40is that everybody in town underestimates you do you ever think that there's a chance that the only
27:46person underestimating you is you so you feel like you need to like terrorize respect from people
27:53i'm telling you right now if you want respect then be yourself just trust yourself
27:58that hasn't worked phyllis you are brilliant okay you're intuitive there's compassion in there but
28:15you won't let anyone see it you won't let anyone in because you don't trust them so you hide behind
28:19this anger but if you'll just take a step back and be honest with yourself you will see
28:27kane is not a solution for you he is the thing that is going to bring you down i want you to know
28:35that i know what i'm doing are tying yourself to someone who doesn't know what he wants himself
28:41except to blow everything up what about you nick what does nicholas newman want truly want deep down

28:58worse than sleeping with him worse than cheating on you i don't understand did you find this man talk to him
29:08uh no but we got a description from the bartender and a name uh will hensley um i did an internet
29:18search and this is him he's a lot older than i expected none of this makes any sense
29:29well it only gets stranger and worse uh we spoke with a hotel reception apparently this hensley guy
29:35checked out a few hours later that must have been in the middle of the night yeah it was seems odd
29:42that the staff would remember a random guest checking out well there's a reason for that um they said that
29:49he seemed shaken scared even couldn't wait to get out of there almost forgot his credit card
29:55do you think he tried to hurt mariah attack her that's all we know right now but we do know that
30:05mariah left early in the morning but she opted for a contactless departure so she never interacted with
30:12anyone again so mariah got drunk met this older man in a bar they left together something happened in
30:23one of the rooms and then they both left what's the worst part the last thing that mariah told me
30:32about that night before she left for the clinic in boston is that
30:36is that she tried to kill someone no mariah that's not possible i would agree with you any other time but
30:50given what we found out and how shaken this guy was
30:55it's not such a stretch to think that this is the man that mariah almost murdered
30:59i don't believe for one second that mariah would intentionally ever try to hurt someone perhaps
31:16this man was taking advantage of her and she fought him off maybe do you have some other theory
31:22when mariah talks about that night she hasn't explained much but she did explain why she got
31:29drunken and it was because of ian ward and all the memories that came crashing back
31:36ian ward he's dead and buried and he's still haunting her this man will hensley i mean he he's around
31:43ian's age and similar height and build oh my god so you think maybe he triggered these memories
31:56and mariah acted out somehow what do you think
32:05well i hate to say it but i have a theory that would just be further proof that we haven't escaped
32:11the terror that ian's unleashed in this town no really speak up for the life of me i'm interested
32:19to know what do you really want for yourself you are deflecting no if i was deflecting you know i would
32:26offer you the rest of my french toast what do you want nothing actually it's not true i want my kids
32:33to be happy of course we all want our kids to be happy but what do you want for you i'm good i have my
32:40family i have my work my kids are happy and healthy i have everything i want and need yeah you do
32:46except you have your daddy calling the shots all the time don't you that's got to be exhausting aren't
32:51you tired no i'm right where i need to be i had a corporate desk job this is hardly your everyday desk
32:58job newman enterprise is one of the most powerful conglomerates in the world that you've left time and
33:03time again that is true but it turns out what i was searching for was right in front of me the whole
33:09time oh my goodness wow there's no place like home you joke but you're not wrong family is what matters
33:18and through thick and thin good times and bad working side by side with them is exactly where i want to
33:24be well i didn't get that lucky did i i i didn't get a daddy that just handed me a part of his corporation
33:40i just got guilt and shame
33:45nikki you always were a bit of a drama queen so there's a tiny little chance that you're
33:50overreacting to the threat of kane to your company and the others i am not the only one
33:58who sees him as a threat in fact you would be very surprised to learn how few fans he has in genoa city
34:05these days oh is that so yes well now jill what a nice surprise thank you for coming well i didn't see
34:15your regrets only option on the invitation so did my wife treat you with grace i tried my best jill is
34:28very particular well what can i say i know what i want oh yeah don't we all
34:39i'm almost afraid to hear this theory of yours me too why haven't you shared this with me yeah just

34:58mariah didn't kill this hensley dude right right but she tried to she tried to kill someone but yes this
35:05is the logical answer to two agreed then he hightailed it out of there so so i think given
35:15how chummy they were earlier it's safe to assume that this guy knows mariah's name he possibly knows
35:20where she works and he could know that she's from genoa city look i hope i'm way off base here but
35:27do you think that there's a chance that this guy could be looking for some kind of retribution
35:32i mean is it possible that mariah is in danger
35:41you know there's no shame in what you did it's not your fault that your old man turned out to be
35:46a con man who swindled people out of their life savings all right you did what you needed to do you
35:53stepped up and you turned him in and then he went to prison and hated me for it but you did the right
36:01thing and you can do the right thing here too oh i see what you did you brought this around to kane
36:09got it the con man well the jury's still out on that one we both know kane doesn't like to play by
36:16the rules you know that kane is someone who is not afraid to hurt people to get what he wants
36:22do you honestly want to work for someone who could turn out to be exactly like your dad
36:27i feel like this choke chain is getting to me hey hey listen come here listen i'm not trying to control
36:35you as always i'm trying to protect you what kane is doing is highly illegal when this goes south and
36:43i'm telling you it's gonna go south you're gonna be up to your eyeballs in trouble do you really
36:48want daniel and summer to have a parent in prison the way you did well it wouldn't be the first time
36:54don't joke around about that this is your life we're talking about you think you need kane to make a mark
36:59you don't need kane it's more fun this isn't going to turn out well for you i promise you that
37:07now you already turned me down you don't want to work with me fine go do something with daniel
37:13go work with summer at marchetti you'd be a great fit there okay first of all daniel has made it clear
37:18he doesn't want to work with me so i don't want to work at marchetti i don't want to do that because
37:23you need something more powerful and glamorous yes what's wrong with that is that terrible you're

37:49jill why don't you have a seat jill and i were just having a fascinating conversation about kane's
37:57homecoming oh yeah so did billy boy bring you up to speed not the most reliable source on the subject
38:07normally i would agree with you but in this case i think he's right on
38:10innuendos more what-ifs than facts she stands quite ready to give kane the benefit of the doubt
