. I was told that i had to 'feel' the S25 edge in order to truly appreciate its beauty. But to be honest - I feel like thats just a marketing ploy by Samsung to sell more phones. Since to me - it honestly didnt feel that much different than a regular ol' smartphone.

Personally I like the extra milimieter of thickness, and an extra 2 ounces of weight if it means that I can have more features in my phone. A phone is a tool.

People who dont work from their phone might have different needs obviously – but for me its all about function over form.

00:00The thinnest Samsung phone ever made, the S25 Edge.
00:05The name threw me off a bit since Samsung used to call a curved screen phone they made
00:099 years ago the Galaxy S7 Edge.
00:12But since I guess lexicon is finite, we gotta reuse some words and recycling is always a
00:17good thing.
00:18I watched a few S25 Edge reviews before this lucky device got delivered to my desk and
00:22everyone online basically said you have to touch it to believe it.
00:26But to be honest, now that it's been touched, I'm just not all that impressed.
00:30I mean, I have some questions like are there balls inside and what the cooling system's
00:34like, and more importantly, is it going to turn into a Flip 6 if I put it in my back pocket.
00:39It's instantly apparent that the Edge does not have the same anti-glare coatings that the
00:43Ultra series has.
00:45The Ultra lets you count the individual diodes in my LED lights, and not having that glare
00:50reduction is a downside.
00:52But for the most part, if someone handed me this Edge out of the blue, I would not think
00:56twice about its thinness.
00:58Intentionally analyzing it though, I can tell that the 5.8 millimeter titanium Edge looks
01:03good.
01:04But I mean like, and I hate to do this, Apple did it first and did it better.
01:09The M4 iPad that came out a year ago is 5.1 millimeters thick.
01:13Well I mean it used to be 5.1 before it went through some things.
01:17But there ain't nothing wrong with being a little thicker than you used to be.
01:21Given the S25 Edge with some everyday objects, I have it clocked in at a tad over 3 quarters.
01:27Sliding two house keys up to the frame, they very closely line up with the actual silhouette.
01:32Or you know, the S25 Edge is the same thickness as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7 razor blades.
01:41And if you're the studious type, it's not quite as thick as a pencil.
01:44So sometimes, at least here in the USA, you got to measure things in ice cream lids.
01:49And this S25 Edge comes in at one third of an ice cream cap.
01:53Not including any of the spilt ice cream on the screen.
01:56I mean I kind of regret this decision, but at the same time, cameras can sometimes play
02:00tricks on your eyes.
02:02And it's good to get some physical real world examples of what the S25 Edge compares to.
02:07Fun fact, if your finger was blown up to the size of the earth, and then you touch the earth
02:11with that large finger, you'd be able to differentiate the difference between houses and cars.
02:17That's how good our sense of touch actually is.
02:19So believe me when I say, now that I've looked and touched, it's just not as special as it's
02:24been cracked up to be.
02:26Not special enough to justify the price anyway.
02:28And speaking of price, and wallets, huge thanks to Ridge Wallet for sponsoring this video.
02:33Ridge has a Father's Day sale right now with up to 40% off.
02:37And since I've been carrying a titanium Ridge wallet in my pocket for 6 years now,
02:41I can personally attest to its durability.
02:44If you can survive 6 years with me, you can survive basically anything.
02:48The sale includes Ridge's new 10,000 mAh magnetic wireless charging dual corded power bank that
02:54can charge your phone up to 3 times, and has a built in kickstand.
02:57The S25 Edge obviously doesn't have a ring of magnets to lock the wireless charger into
03:01place.
03:02But if you use a magnet case, like the grip case from dbrand that I have on my S24 Ultra, Ridge's
03:08magnetic power bank will clamp on just as good to an Android as it would any iPhone.
03:12And even though I've had my wallet for half a decade, it might be time to swap it out since
03:17this new Kintsugi Gold is calling my name.
03:19Kintsugi is a Japanese art form where they fix something like pottery or ceramics with real
03:24gold acting as the glue, making a broken object beautiful again, which is poetic.
03:30Dads deserve a gift that lasts.
03:32So if you use my code JerryRig, you can save up to 40% off on a gift he'll use for a long
03:36time.
03:37And if your dad's been at the gas station for a while, just treat yourself instead.
03:41The code works for anyone.
03:42Ridge.com slash JerryRig.
03:45Where was I?
03:46Ah yeah.
03:47One good thing about having a really thin, lightweight device is that if it ever does get dropped,
03:51it will probably be less likely to break, since there is less mass and kinetic energy to
03:56the phone in general.
03:57At least that's what I think on paper.
04:00The Edge is a whole 2 ounces lighter than the Ultra.
04:05There is however quite a lot of wobble thanks to the protruding camera lenses.
04:12The S25 Edge does use a new Gorilla Glass called Ceramic 2 from Corning, which as we can expect
04:17still scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7.
04:22The front facing camera is a 12 megapixel hole punch sitting right below a super thin earpiece
04:26slit.
04:27And of course the sides are made with titanium.
04:33And honestly, since titanium is almost twice as rigid as aluminum, this could very well be
04:38what keeps this ultra slim S25 Edge in one piece.
04:42But we'll find out here in a second.
04:43The buttons do come out of the frame pretty easily, so make sure no one walks away with
04:47these.
04:48Samsung is the only manufacturer that does this quirky thing.
04:51The top of the phone has some noise cancelling microphone holes, along with a 5G antenna on
04:57the left side, and a whole lot more titanium.
05:00The bottom of the S25 Edge has a single SIM card tray, 25 watt USB-C port, and a very thin
05:07lower stereo speaker slit.
05:09I don't immediately see any waterproofing mesh inside of it though, so I'm curious how
05:12the IP68 water resistance rating is accomplished.
05:16Hopefully we'll see the insides here in a few seconds.
05:18The single SIM card tray does have a rubber ring around the lip, and I imagine that Samsung
05:22is again just using the same titanium exoskeleton design that they've used on the S24 and S25
05:28Ultras, but we'll know for sure once we snap it in half or tear it down, whichever comes
05:33first.
05:34I do think it's kind of funny that we talk about how thin the phone is while ignoring
05:37the elephant in the room, and by elephant I mean camera bump.
05:41Unlike Red Magic phones, which have completely flushed back panels, Samsung has a camera hump
05:46for its camera bumps, double stacked camera plateaus, dinner plates on top of a serving tray.
05:52The top one is a 12 megapixel ultra wide camera, while the bottom is a 200 megapixel main camera,
05:58and a single tone LED flash which is also covered up with glass.
06:02None of the lenses appear to come off though, so that's nice.
06:05But yeah, just another reason to get a case, even if only to even out the camera humps.
06:10One thing that definitely helps make the phone so thin is having an ultrasonic fingerprint
06:14scanner.
06:15These sensors under the screen are just naturally flat and fit flush without taking up any additional
06:20depth like an optical fingerprint sensor would.
06:23And luckily, even if your phone accidentally got kicked and slid face down across the parking
06:27lot, getting scratched up by all kinds of level 7 grits of asphalt, it would still be
06:31able to scan your fingerprint just fine.
06:34Thumbs up for that.
06:35And like don't get me wrong, this is a very cool phone with basically the same screen specs
06:39and resolution and refresh rate as the ultra.
06:42But since you're missing the larger battery, S-Pen and extra cameras, it makes me personally
06:47think that I'd rather keep those extra 2 ounces of weight and use them for something useful.
06:52But everyone is different and that's just like, you know, my own opinion.
06:56Even after 30 seconds, there doesn't appear to be any permanent damage from my lighter.
06:59I am, however, worried about damage from lack of structural integrity.
07:04My understanding of this physical world we live in makes me think that this should be
07:08a very easy snap, with some glorious carnage and sparks and battery juice seeping out of
07:13the cracks of our newly obliterated S25 Edge.
07:16But when bent from the back, we get a minor flex and that's about it.
07:21When the pressure is applied to the screen, however, I can start to see the back panel
07:25separate slightly right above the power button near where the camera lens tray meets the back
07:29glass, which obviously compromises our water resistance, but surprisingly still no structural
07:35damage.
07:36The only thing broke here is my brain and my ego.
07:40The Galaxy S25 Edge, as thin as it is, survives the bend test with flying colors.
07:46And I'm legitimately excited to see what black magic Samsung added to the inside to make this
07:50thing unbreakable.
07:51Hit that subscribe button so you don't miss it.
07:53I gave it a few extra bends vertically because I really don't like being thwarted.
07:57Now that I have officially let my intrusive thoughts play themselves out, I know for a fact
08:02that the S25 Edge will not bend or break under even very extreme circumstances.
08:08If you like slim and sleek, the Edge is a great choice.
08:12Just make sure to put what's left of your money into a Ridge wallet since they're up to
08:1540% off right now.
08:18Thanks a ton for watching, and I'll see you around.
