00:00Listen, I hear that you are the reason, Jennifer Lopez is self-accrediting you, for the reason that this film was made.
00:07I mean, how did those early conversations go? What was it about this movie?
00:11Well, you know, we started this company and part of that was the finance movies.
00:15And I didn't want to just make movies that were obvious or that everyone else was going to make.
00:21You know, Matt and Lucy and our partners, you know, really care about artisting and riffs and really want to bet on great artists.
00:27And so as a financier and a producer of the movie, this was this is exactly the kind of thing that we want to do with Arts Equity,
00:36which is give people this opportunity, let them show the world how magnificent they are and and show a real diversity in the kind of stories they can get told.
00:44And genres and, you know, performers. And it's, you know, Bill Condon is incredible at this genre.
00:50And Jennifer in a role that she's, you know, the kind of role that she's like born to play.
00:55She's amazing in the movie. I just can't wait for the audiences to see this movie.
01:00I'm as proud of this movie as any that I've ever been involved with.
01:03I'm really, really excited to be here tonight.
01:05Oh, my gosh. As you should be. I mean, it is incredible the fact that it's a story within a story.
01:10But her transformation, I mean, the first time you saw her up there, and again, you said it's a role that she's born to play.
01:16What was that like?
01:16You know, it was obvious to me very early on, Jennifer's involvement in this, that she was going to die or be great.
01:26You know, she just was going to give it her all, and she did.
01:30She worked enormously hard.
01:32In this world, you get to see, like, all of her many gifts.
01:36You know, she's somebody that grew up watching classic musicals and obviously can do contemporary dance, obviously, and all that.
01:43And this is a kind of, I'm probably not the person who's, you would want to explain the nuance of dance.
01:50But to me, it seems like a fascinating mix of, like, contemporary dance and classic Hollywood musicals and tremendous, like, very gripping, powerful, moving drama.
02:00You have these guys, you know, in prison who are in a repressive government.
02:04And, you know, she really does it all in this movie, the acting and singing and dancing and kind of embodies the whole spirit of it, playing, you know, the titular, obviously, title character.
02:17And I just, she's fabulous, although that shouldn't be any surprise to me.
02:21The Oscar buzz, you're an Oscar winner.
02:23I mean, how important is that?
02:24You know, I mean, it's, look, I don't think anybody gets offended, you know, when people say that.
02:33But it isn't something that I, like, I've been disappointed in myself.
02:37I've seen things that I thought, oh, this should be recognized.
02:40It wasn't recognized.
02:41It's not, like, the final decision.
02:43I, like, try to develop my own standard for what I really like and think it's great.
02:47And as such, I'm enormously proud of the movie.
02:49I always will be.
02:50I love this movie.
02:51Congratulations again.
02:53Thank you for your time.
