00:07multiple life-threatening stab wounds on Tuesday. She was taken to a hospital by helicopter.

00:14Iris Stalzer, who was elected on September 28th, is a member of the center-left Social

00:18Democratic Party, the junior party in Germany's conservative-led government.

00:23Police said they are investigating, adding that a family-related incident couldn't be ruled out.

00:30Officials say Stalzer's two adopted teenage children had made the emergency call to

00:35authorities. They were later taken into custody, according to local media.

00:40It was reported that police had been called to Stalzer's house on several occasions in the past

00:45due to reports of domestic violence. German Chancellor Friedrich Meritz shared in a post

00:51on X that he feared for Stalzer's life and hopes for a full recovery.
