Two years after the deadly October 7th, 2023 attack by Hamas, the world is still feeling its impact. Over 1,200 people were killed at a music festival, millions were displaced, and Gaza lies in ruins. Israel faces heightened security challenges and international isolation, while regional tensions with Syria and Iran continue to escalate. 00:007th of October, 2023, a date that changed Israel, Gaza and the world forever.
00:28A deadly attack by Hamas on a music festival that killed over 1,200 people, leaving scars
00:37that continue to shape the region and international relations even two years later.
00:49In Gaza, the devastation has been staggering, more than 66,000 people have been killed, nearly
00:57half of them women and children.
00:59According to Hamas's health ministry, almost 2 million residents have been forced to flee
01:05their homes and humanitarian agencies now warned of the mine.
01:11Planet images show entire blocks of Gaza city flattened, while UN reports indicate that
01:171 in 3 people are going without food for days at a time.
01:23But if Hamas rejects your plan, Mr. President, or if they supposedly accept it and then basically
01:34do everything to counter it, then Israel will finish the job by itself.
01:42This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done.
01:54Israel too has been profoundly affected.
01:58Security measures have tightened and the trauma of October 7th continues to shape daily life.
02:05The attack also isolated Israel internationally, with several countries recognizing a Palestinian
02:12state in protest and Netanyahu facing scrutiny at the United Nations.
02:18Meanwhile, ongoing hostage situation continued to haunt families, with some still in captivity
02:25two years on.
02:26From ethnic cleansing to genocide, when is it time to tell Israel enough is enough?
02:36The policy of cajoling Israel has brought to power the most openly supremacist and racist
02:44government in the history of Israel.
02:47Only accountability can help us correct course.
02:56The October 7th assault also reshaped original geopolitics.
03:01Israel's eerstrikes on Hezbollah in Syria contributed to the fall of the Assad regime.
03:07And attacks on Iran's nuclear sites signalled a new era of pre-emptive military action.
03:15Diplomacy, peace talks and humanitarian missions have become more urgent, with the US unveiling
03:23President Trump's 20-point ceasefire and reconstruction plan to stabilize the region.
03:32So there are many Palestinians who wish to live in peace, many, many, many.
03:37I've seen so many of them.
03:40And they have support.
03:42And I challenge the Palestinians to take responsibility for their destiny, because that's what we're
03:47giving them.
03:48We're giving them responsibility for their destiny.
03:52They don't want to fully condemn and prohibit terrorism and earn their way to a brighter future.
03:57They don't want the life that they've had, they've had a rough life with Hamas.
04:02Two years after October 7th, the region remains fragile.
04:08The wounds are deep and the world is watching.
04:13What started as a single deadly attack has transformed politics, diplomacy and humanitarian priorities,
04:20showing just how much one day can change the course of history.
