00:00A very warm good evening to all the dignitaries, Samuel here, for the book release from Shino
00:06Sri Justice Gumpal Kauraji on location of his 75th birthday celebration. It gives me an immense
00:14pleasure to be here on this occasion, delighted to be a part in releasing the biography of a great
00:20human being whom we'll lovingly call him as Manol Thawradi, with apt title for his autobiography.
00:27And I would like to convey my heartfelt namaskars to Honorable Shri Justice and Santosh Higdash,
00:35former Mukhaitha of Karnataka and former Supreme Court, Judge of Supreme Court of India.
00:42And my heartfelt namaskars to Honorable Justice Shri Nikki Patraakshi, former Judge and Supreme Court of India.
00:50Honorable Justice Shri Sudendhalaji, former Judge and High Court of Karnataka.
00:55My heartfelt namaskars to Shri HK Patraakshi, former Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs,
01:01Justice and Santosh Higdash of Tourism, Government of Karnataka.
01:03My heartfelt namaskars to Honorable Amin Sehshadraji, Senior Advocate, High Court of Karnataka.
01:12Shri my honourable, my heartfelt namaskars to Mohind Rajuji,
01:15Political Secretary to Government of Karnataka.
01:17Shri Amin Sehshadraji, and Shri Yamin Dhillapadraji, General Secretary for the Situation Committee.
01:21To all of the senior advocates, members of the law council, advocates, their families,
01:28public and media brothers and police, a war moving into a lyrical question.
01:33Shri Amin Sehshadraji, General Secretary of Karnataka.
01:45One sentence I would think of Justice Gopal Karnataka is that when justice becomes a voice,
01:51not just a verdict, that becomes Justice Gopal Karnataka.
01:55Today I am deeply honoured to be here today, celebrating the 75th birthday of Honourable
02:00former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sree Gopal Karnataka.
02:05I stand before you, not as a deputy chief minister or other names I carry,
02:14I stand here today, you, as a student who has been fortunate enough to learn from
02:20one of this country's rarest voices of moral courage, Justice Gopal Karnataka.
02:28When I look at his life journey, it fills me with deep respect.
02:34Born in a small village called Pedoro in Chintamani Region of Polar District,
02:39from a humble family, he rose through sheer dedication and integrity.
02:43From being an advocate to serving as a judge of the Karnataka High Court,
02:47then as a chief justice of the Varisa High Court, and later as a judge of the Supreme Court of India,
02:53his life itself is an inspiration.
02:56It shows us that what honesty, hard work and commitment to justice can achieve.
03:04In, recently in July, 2025, I spoke about Justice Gopal Karnataka in an interview.
03:10When I said that Justice Gopal Karnataka is not just an inspiration, he is my mentor.
03:18His commitment to the oppressed, his fearless defense of constitutional values,
03:25these are the ideals I try to live by.
03:28It is because beyond being a former judge of the Supreme Court,
03:32he is a man who has dedicated his life to the voice of the voices.
03:39Justice Gopal Karnataka has always extended his support in crucial people's movements,
03:45whether it was the Nallamala uranium issue, or the Amiravati farmer struggles,
03:49or when we formed the joint fact-finding committee to understand how central funds were being utilized by the state.
03:56He participated, voluntarily sharing his knowledge and helping us present facts in the right way.
04:05He offered a rightful judicial guidance that helped us to examine the constitutional obligations,
04:13the denied promises, and the center's accountability under the APA reorganization.
04:18He showed us that truth is not just an emotion, it's a process, it's evidence, it's courage wrapped in facts.
04:29With his support, our fact-finding committee was not just a political tool,
04:33it became a document of justice and a mirror to the facts.
04:37What we learned, mainly from the key words from him is, governments may change, but the duty to the constitution never changes.
04:49And that our duty is not to please governments, but to protect citizens from the misuse of power, whoever wields it.
04:57Justice Gopal Karnataka, your life and words reminds us that true patriotism is not about political alignment,
05:05but about institutional courage and moral conviction.
05:10You have taught us that we must govern with conscience, judge with courage, and serve with integrity,
05:16because, as you beautifully put it, the constitution is not just a document, it is a sacred trust placed in our hands.
05:26We are deeply grateful, sir, for your wisdom, your clarity, and your unfavoring faith in the spirit of our constitution.
05:33Your words continue to inspire us to build a democracy rooted in courage, compassion, and balance.
05:42Justice Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal Gopal has been a lighthouse,
05:58in a sea of political chaos.
05:59He is a proof that retirement does not silence responsibility, that a judge may leave the
06:06bench but not the battle for justice.
06:09That is why we fight.
06:12Our fight is not about power, it's about restoring trust in public life, it's about bringing
06:20dignity back to governance, it's about ensuring that the law protects the weak, not just the
06:26powerful.
06:28That's what we all stand for, that's why we stand by Justice Gopal Dabrash.
06:33And in this journey, we are blessed to be guided not just by political instincts but also
06:41by ethical Jains like Justice v. Gopal Dabrash.
06:45Finally, I would like to sum up in few words.
06:49I draw strength from his words, I draw clarity from his wisdom and above all, I draw courage
06:57from his life.
06:58Let us carry that spirit forward, let us build a society where justice is not fear but felt.
07:10And these are the key takeaways which I have taken from his life.
07:15He has often said that legislature, the administration, the judiciary are the three organs of one living constitution.
07:25Each must perform its role independently yet harmoniously complementing one another when needed but never
07:32crossing into each other's domain.
07:34These words capture the very essence of our republic that independence does not mean isolation and cooperation does not mean compromise.
07:44He has repeatedly reminded the judiciary, the government and the bureaucracy that the ultimate duty of every institution is to protect the democratic spirit and uphold constitutional values.
07:56Your reflections on governance and justice are not about politics, they are about principle.
08:02The judiciary must show courage when power becomes overbearing and caution when power is balanced.
08:08On this special day I pray to Lord Venkateshwara and Lord Manjunadam to bless justice Gopal Gopal Gopal Raji with long life and good health.
08:21May his wisdom continue to guide future generations and may leaders like me always have the privilege to learn from his experience and ideals and Jai Karnataka Jai.
