11:32actually um there's one more thing of course there is it's not just jack and victor who are worried
11:42about what kane has in store for us it's the entire town everybody feels the threat so you better damn well

12:04we went to the hotel that mariah was staying at and it was nice it wasn't sketchy or seedy at all
12:10okay well that makes sense mariah was on a business trip of course she would stay in a
12:16decent hotel what happened next well the first thing we did is go to the bar the one that mariah
12:24said she got drunk at and and we showed her photo to the bartender and we got lucky he was working
12:30that night and he remembered her hey what's wrong what did you learn i mean the more that we learned
12:41the more i was worried that you were right and that i never should have been investigated i mean
12:45going behind mariah's back confronting her with what we've learned i mean it could push her away even
12:50farther into the hole that she's already dug and i could lose her for good you said that you would
12:57risk anything to help mariah help her for peace again that kind of love that could bring her back to us

13:14you are talking as if i have any control whatsoever over kane's business decisions jill you have had a
13:24front row seat to kane's transformation into aristotle dumas you were with him when colin died so
13:33clearly you are part of his inner circle what are his plans why do i suddenly feel like i'm being
13:41interrogated you have known about kane's identity his sudden billions and yet you said nothing even
13:49after you sold the company to victor you kept it a secret why if you're going to attack me at least get
13:57your facts straight okay i only learned about dumas when i was invited to the chateau because colin was
14:05dying okay and that was after i sold the company to victor so you say oh now i'm a liar what happened to

14:33and i wanted to respect that and your silence could take everything from us your complicity i was not
14:42complicit your complicity allowed kane to turn into a monster who seems hell-bent on getting as much
14:51power and money as he can you're saying that you don't have any remorse about that i'm saying i don't
14:58have any facts you're really okay sitting back and watching kane attempt to seize every big company in
15:06genoa city including katherine's precious chancellor industries
15:15i would never do anything that would hurt my children like freaking your death yes i did
15:23i did and i made amends to my children i worked very hard to make amends to them and we are all in a
15:29good place now yeah um the way that i see this is you are the one who's in trouble i mean who would you be
15:43if people were trembling at your sight and bowing to you who would the great victor newman be without

20:09because kane has your family all squirmy oh we're gonna handle kane are you seems like kane's

20:25and everybody in this town is turned upside down including your family
20:30i mean your dad he can beat his chest all he wants but kane has his cage rattled

20:45as much fun as you're having waving katherine's name in my face do you happen to remember that
20:50katherine left kane in charge of chancellor before she died but she gave the company itself to victor
20:59and now kane is gunning for oh you think why can't you see what is right in front of you
21:10because he's a decent man no he isn't not anymore
21:18i trust that he will make the right decision when i spoke to him wait wait wait you saw him yes
21:24what were you gonna keep that a secret too it's not a secret everything i heard i wanted to check
21:31in on him see if he was okay so he was your first stop is there a problem with that ahead of your own

22:57i know he's he's he's grappling with shedding the persona he created grappling with losing lily and
23:04the children oh well that's his own damn fault listen
23:10he is a really good man and i can talk to him and i can connect with him so i really don't think you have
23:17anything to fear so our city is in crisis and you go straight to kane

23:40apparently according to the bartender and um a waiter mariah was at the bar she was drinking
23:50alone she was approached by this man they hit it off he joined her they started to have drinks
23:58together um and they really seemed to be enjoying themselves an instant connection the bartender said
24:05that makes sense i guess mariah was alone she was maybe feeling lonely she's very outgoing she makes
24:14everyone she meets feel like they're special like an old friend well yeah from what we were told
24:20seems like this was more than that um apparently they were getting intimate they left the bar together
24:30they headed upstairs one would guess that they went to one of their rooms i was afraid that it was
24:38something like that even though mariah denied it i'm so sorry oh i i know what you're thinking
24:48that they slept together but it's actually so much worse than that
25:00nikki listen to me i've heard about his intentions and that's why i'm here i they are troubling and i
25:08understand your concern but kane is deeply deeply conflicted and that tells me he is not the cutthroat
25:16you think he is no you just want to believe that because he's like a son to you he's not that person
25:23anymore he is ruthless and now that lily and his children have rejected him he is out for blood
25:33our blood the newmans the abbots maybe even the winters okay i don't want to see anybody get hurt so
25:41i'm gonna do the very best i can no you're gonna have to do better than that you have to stop him
25:48whether you like it or not you may be our last hope no pressure there
25:59you know phyllis i really wish you didn't take so much pleasure in all of the trouble that kane
26:04is stirring up oh my gosh why is your dad the only one in town who can hijack every single company
26:09my dad is not perfect that's for sure but the difference is what kane is doing is absolutely
26:15diabolical and lots and lots of people are gonna get hurt can i have some more sir right thank you
26:21but you just don't give a damn do you you know what i'll give a damn about a lot of things a lot of
26:26things trust me but what i don't give a damn about is your dad being upset that um someone's gonna do to
26:34him what he's done to so many other people you know it's not just my dad right it's my family all of them
26:42it is me i'm sorry about that that's nice but you're still gonna see this through right
26:52you know i wish you could see things from my perspective it's like i can't do anything without
26:58your judgment and you might as well put like um a choke chain on me you know i think what's really
27:08going on here is you're just upset that i'm going to accomplish something on my own you are enough
27:16what you're enough just the way you are you do not need to team up with someone like kane
27:22who's planning to go all scorched earth on genoa city to prove something that doesn't need to be
27:27proven um yeah i think i do no you don't you don't yes you're so talented and you're an amazing mother
27:35okay well i'm not really an amazing mother all i ever hear from you is that everybody in town
27:41underestimates you do you ever think that there's a chance that the only person underestimating you
27:48is you so you feel like you need to like terrorize respect from people i'm telling you right now
27:54if you want respect then be yourself just trust yourself
28:03that hasn't worked phyllis you are brilliant okay you're intuitive there's compassion in there but
28:15you won't let anyone see it you won't let anyone in because you don't trust them so you hide behind
28:19this anger but if you'll just take a step back and be honest with yourself you will see
28:26kane is not a solution for you he is the thing that is going to bring you down i want you to know
28:35that i know what i'm doing are tying yourself to someone who doesn't know what he wants himself
28:41except to blow everything up what about you nick what does nicholas newman want truly want deep down

28:58worse than sleeping with him worse than cheating on you i don't understand did you
29:06find this man talk to him uh no but we got a description from the bartender and a name uh will
29:15hensley um i did an internet search and this is him he's a lot older than i expected
29:27none of this makes any sense well it only gets stranger and worse uh we spoke with a hotel reception
29:33apparently this hensley guy checked out a few hours later that must have been in the middle of the
29:39night yeah it was seems odd that the staff would remember a random guest checking out well there's a
29:46reason for that um they said that he seemed shaken scared even couldn't wait to get out of there almost
29:54forgot his credit card do you think he tried to hurt mariah attack her that's all we know right now but
30:04we do know that mariah left early in the morning but she opted for a contactless departure so she never
30:11interacted with anyone again so mariah got drunk met this older man in a bar they left together
30:22something happened in one of the rooms and then they both left what's the worst part
30:29the last thing that mariah told me about that night before she left for the clinic in boston is that
30:36is that she tried to kill someone no mariah that's not possible i would agree with you any other time but
30:50given what we found out and how shaken this guy was
30:54i don't believe for one second that mariah would intentionally ever try to hurt someone perhaps this
31:16man was taking advantage of her and she fought him off maybe do you have some other theory when mariah
31:24talks about that night she hasn't explained much but she did explain why she got drunken and it was
31:30because of ian ward and all the memories that came crashing back ian ward he's dead and buried and he's
31:39still haunting her this man will hensley i mean he he's around ian's age and similar height and build
31:47oh my god so you think maybe he triggered these memories and mariah acted out somehow

32:05well i hate to say it but i have a theory that would just be further proof that we haven't escaped the terror that
32:12ian's unleashed on this town no really speak up for the life of me i'm interested to know
32:20what do you really want for yourself you are deflecting no if i was deflecting you know i would

32:57everyday desk job newman enterprise is one of the most powerful conglomerates in the world that you've
33:03left time and time again that is true but it turns out what i was searching for was right in front of me
33:09the whole time oh my goodness wow there's no place like home you joke but you're not wrong
33:16family is what matters and through thick and thin good times and bad working side by side with them
33:23is exactly where i want to be well i didn't get that lucky did i
33:26i i didn't get a daddy that just handed me a part of his corporation
33:40i just got guilt and shame
33:45nikki you always were a bit of a drama queen so there's a tiny little chance that you're overreacting
33:52to the threat of kane to your company and the others i am not the only one who sees him as a
33:59threat in fact you would be very surprised to learn how few fans he has in genoa city these days so yes
34:09well now jill what a nice surprise thank you for coming well i didn't see a regrets only option on the
34:18invitation so did my wife treat you with grace i tried my best jill is very particular
34:31well what can i say i know what i want oh yeah don't we all
34:39i'm almost afraid to hear this theory of yours me too why haven't you shared this with me yeah just

34:58mariah didn't kill this ensley dude right right but she tried to she tried to kill someone but yes this
35:05is the logical answer to two agreed then he hightailed it out of there so so i think given
35:15how chummy they were earlier it's safe to assume that this guy knows mariah's name he possibly knows
35:20where she works and he could know that she's from genoa city look i hope i'm way off base here but
35:27do you think that there's a chance that this guy could be looking for some kind of retribution
35:32i mean is it possible that mariah is in danger
35:40you know there's no shame in what you did it's not your fault that your old man turned out to be a
35:46con man who swindled people out of their life savings all right you did what you needed to do you
35:53stepped up and you turned him in and then he went to prison and hated me for it but you did the right
36:01thing and you can do the right thing here too oh i see what you did you brought this around to kane
36:09got it the con man well the jury's still out on that one we both know kane doesn't like to play by
36:16the rules you know that kane is someone who's not afraid to hurt people to get what he wants do you
36:22honestly want to work for someone who could turn out to be exactly like your dad oh i feel like this
36:28choke chain is getting to me hey hey listen listen i'm not trying to control you as always i'm trying
36:37to protect you what kane is doing is highly illegal when this goes south and i'm telling you it's gonna
36:44go south you're gonna be up to your eyeballs in trouble do you really want daniel and summer to have a
36:50parent in prison the way you did well it wouldn't be the first time don't joke around about that this
36:55is your life we're talking about you think you need kane to make a mark you don't need kane it's more fun
37:04this isn't gonna turn out well for you i promise you that now you already turned me down you don't
37:10want to work with me fine go do something with daniel go work with summer at marchetti you'd be a great
37:15fit there okay first of all daniel has made it clear he doesn't want to work with me so i don't
37:20want to work at marchetti i don't want to do that why because you need something more powerful and
37:24glamorous yes what's wrong with that is that terrible you're making a mistake okay are we done here are we

38:07normally i would agree with you but in this case i think he's right on
38:10innuendos more what-ifs than facts she stands quite ready to give kane the benefit of the doubt
