The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago hosted the Airports Council International Latin America and Caribbean's Annual Assembly, Conference and Exhibition at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The event brought together regional and international leaders to discuss sustainability, infrastructure, and connectivity in the aviation sector.

00:00The ACI-LAC Annual Assembly Conference and Exhibition is one of the region's premier aviation events,
00:08bringing together key decision makers to discuss current challenges and future opportunities in the industry.
00:15ACI-LAC President and CEO of Airdome, Monica Infante, underscored the Global Agency of Sustainability in Aviation
00:24and the need for immediate action to meet international carbon reduction targets.
00:28First, sustainability and decarbonization.
00:34The global goal of net zero emissions by 2050 is not negotiable.
00:40To achieve it, we must accelerate access to sustainable aviation fuels, invest in clean energy,
00:49and redesign more efficient operational processes.
00:53The second challenge is capacity and infrastructure.
00:57Sustainable aviation will only be possible if we can also grow with strength.
01:04It is estimated that our region will require over $100 billion in investment by 2040 to meet the rising demand.
01:14The reality is that many airports already operate at their limits.
01:21And without decisive investment, we risk halting the economic and social development of our countries so deeply.
01:32Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakuru, noted that Trinidad and Tobago has been working to modernize its aviation industry
01:40and strengthen international collaboration.
01:43We are also concentrating our efforts on advancing aviation security and border management technologies,
01:52providing training and certification pathways for aviation professionals,
01:57encouraging partnerships for infrastructure investment,
02:01expanding cargo logistics capacity, especially in light of growing regional demand,
02:06and ensuring that our airports are climate resilient, digitally enabled, and globally competitive.
02:13He said the government has finalized and approved several bilateral air service agreements aimed at enhancing regional connectivity.
02:20The government has approved the bilateral air service agreements with the governments of Colombia, Brazil, Rwanda, Ghana, Dominican Republic, and Panama.
02:37In addition, the government has approved the accession by the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago
02:42to the airport transport agreement among the member states and associate member states of the Association of Caribbean States.
02:50The minister said these partnerships are expected to improve air connectivity, trade and economic cooperation between TNT and the wider region.
