00:00Four months after the Ministry of Health established a committee to review the Chronic Disease Assistance Program, or CDAP,
00:08Health Minister Dr. Lakram Bodo has announced the addition of new drugs to the list of available medication.
00:15In a statement on Sunday, Minister Bodo said the changes are in keeping with government's wider health reform agenda.
00:22He explained that the committee was tasked with assessing the program's clinical, operational and financial performance.
00:30The review concluded that CDAP remains a vital public good, but required updates to its drug list,
00:37stronger diagnostic support and structural improvements to meet today's medical realities.
00:44The revised CDAP will provide safer, more effective medicines to over 300,000 citizens.
00:50With improved diagnostics, better rural access and significant cost savings,
00:56this update ensures higher quality care and greater value for the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
01:03Minister Bodo says the following additional medicines are now available through CDAP.
01:08Lozatum Potassium 50-Mg Tablets,
01:12Clopidogrel Bisulfate 75-Mg Tablets,
01:16Risperidone 2-Mg Tablets,
01:18Sertraline 50-Mg Tablets and
01:21Rozuvastatin 20-Mg Tablets.
01:25According to the ministry's website, CDAP is available to all TNT citizens, no age restrictions,
01:33and it provides citizens with free prescription drugs and other pharmaceutical items
01:38to combat a number of health conditions like diabetes, asthma, cardiac diseases, arthritis, glaucoma,
01:47mental depression, high blood pressure, enlarged prostate, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and thyroid diseases.
01:55Minister Bodo says the government remains committed to its mandate
01:59to safeguard the health and well-being of the population.
