Sound grenades echo through Rome streets as pro-Palestinian protesters clash with police
Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with police in Rome on Saturday evening, October 4, after a demonstration against Israel's interception of an international flotilla trying to deliver aid to Gaza.
The protest started peacefully, with students, young children and senior citizens among the crowds.
As the march was ending, a small group broke away and clashed with anti-riot police. Officers used tear gas and water cannons, while some of the protesters were immobilized and detained.
Large crowds assembled in central Rome earlier on Saturday for the fourth straight day of protests in Italy after the flotilla raid.
