00:00What do you know? ICC ODI World Cup is a secret formula that many people don't know but it's a very very interesting thing.
00:07You know all the ICC ODI winning captains have one thing in common. One thread that unites them together.
00:14That is not having a beard. No, I'm not joking. This is a reality.
00:19Let's start with the 1983 World Cup Kapil Dev.
00:22He was a mustach but when he lifted that prestigious World Cup at the iconic Lords Cricket Stadium, he did not have a beard. So a clean shaven look.
00:31Then of course 1992, Imran Khan, the charismatic Pakistani captain and all rounder and later turned politician as well, he had a complete clean look and Pakistan had won their first World Cup.
00:42Then 1996, Arjuna Ranatungi did not have a beard.
00:46And then, the iconic trio of Australian captains, you know, Alan Porter, Steve Moore, Ricky Ponting.
00:52It was a different leadership style. It was a different capabilities as a captain.
00:58But once again, one thing that stood out was their beardless face.
01:03Then of course, in recent times, 2011 World Cup, when MS Dhoni lifted that title after hitting that monstrous six of Nu Ankhola Sekara, he had a clean shaven look.
01:13And the next day, when he was posing with the trophy, he had shaved off his head as well. So completely sticking to the no beard plan.
01:21In 2015, Michael Clarke followed suit. In 2019, Owen Morgan, when he lifted the title, he had a clean shaven look.
01:28And most recently, in 2023, when Australia won in Ahmedabad, Pat Cummins did not have a beard.
01:34So, does ICC have a secret code or is this all a coincidence?
01:38Please tell us in the comments section. But it's got an uncanny resemblance.
01:42Every single World Cup winning captain did not have a beard. Crazy, right?
