00:16I do have a memory of my mom sitting us down and telling us that my father wasn't coming home.

00:23I became acquainted with, like, what death is. Things that no 60-year-old should understand.

00:27Joey and Jimmy's father, Detective Joe Vigiano, made the ultimate sacrifice on 9-11.

00:36The Vigiano family lost two boys to the Trade Center.

00:40After September 11, my view of the world changed a little bit.

00:44I was three months old when my father was killed.

00:47I remember looking up to my father. He's always been larger than life.

00:49For over 180 years, the call to serve has been met from generation to generation.

00:57As far back as the Vigianos have been in this country, they've been firefighters.

01:01My grandfather was a firefighter. My uncle was a firefighter.

01:04My father, he strayed from the path, decided to become a police officer.

01:08Joe, in his mind, is a superhero.

01:10To expect his kids to try to follow in those footsteps, that's asking a lot of somebody.

01:14I just wanted my kids to have a normal 9-to-5 job and come home every night.

01:17I had the expectation to live up to my father's legacy.

01:20John's a, he's kind. He's a good person.

01:28What's that to like? He's my little brother.

01:29My brothers have been more of a father figure than me.

01:37I had no direction.

01:38I came here. It gave me, like, a sense of purpose.

01:40It happens a lot. You know, you grow up.

01:42Those men are your heroes, you know, your father, your uncle.

01:45I requested to have my dad's original numbers.

01:52Jimmy is the third generation with that S.H.I.E.L.D. number.

01:55He could have done anything, and they pick a job where they're helping people every day.
