05:09Well about a year ago now

05:11Christie's relaunched this whole category

05:13we've been working in this area for a long time

05:16about 15 or 20 years

05:19depending on how you look at it

05:20but we relaunched it last year

05:22to really step it up a little bit

05:25and at that time we opened Paris and Hong Kong

05:28as our two major sales sites for bags

05:30and now we've done three hugely successful major auctions

05:36and so what was interesting for us in those two sales sites

05:39to look at the data of who the buyers really were

05:41because wherever the auction is

05:43people can bid on the phone or online

05:45from the whole region

05:46so we were really seeing a lot of activity

05:49from Dubai and from the rest of the Middle East

05:52so we started talking internally at first

05:55about what would be a nice easy way

05:58to get to know this market

05:59get to know our clients here a little bit better

06:01so first a few months ago

06:03we did the jewelry shows in Saudi

06:06and then we made the decision

06:08to come and be a part of this amazing week

06:11in Dubai Watch Week

06:12together with private sale of jewelry

06:15so although it's not a full-size auction

06:17what we did was we brought

06:18six private sale highlights

06:21of our overall private sale collection

06:23and you see them behind me

06:25we really chose pieces that fit the taste of this market

06:30of our clients here and what they really look for

06:33we picked pieces that met that

06:35well what's something that's particularly interesting

06:39about the buyers here

06:40at least our Christie's buyers here

06:42is that they're really sophisticated

06:44they really know the market

06:46you know when people walk into this room

06:48they've seen Birkins before

06:51you know these are people that know bags very well

06:54but what we've been able to curate for them

06:56are the rarest versions

06:58the pieces that aren't available anywhere else

07:00the pieces that are one-off

07:01that were custom-made for somebody

07:04or just custom-made as a one-of-a-kind

07:05limited editions

07:07more recently or even into the past

07:10that are in perfect condition

07:11that you really can't get anywhere else

07:13we work with private collectors

07:15across the region

07:17so across Middle East

07:18across Europe and across Asia

07:19we work with private collectors

07:21and it is a wide range

07:23of client base

07:24but it's really people

07:25who have deep collections of these bags

07:28and at times

07:29decide to sell one or two pieces

07:32and we work with them

07:33to shape which piece is the right one

07:36for the market today

07:37which ones they really are ready to sell

07:39because we're really choosy

07:42about what we bring in

07:44we really only take pieces

07:45that are exactly what makes sense

07:48for the market
