00:00If I suddenly had two minutes to speak to the whole world, all I would say is
00:07A lot can happen in a year, but for most people, not much changes.
00:12Dreams stay dreams, and ideas never leave their heads.
00:15But it doesn't have to be that way.
00:16Here's the thing, life is constantly presenting you with two options,
00:19and whether you like it or not, you're choosing one of these options every single day.
00:23Option 1 is the safe and certain option of staying exactly where you are.
00:27Option 2 is the uncertain option of making a change.
00:30The reason you're watching this video is probably because you've been choosing option 1 for too long.
00:35And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's not a single self-help book, podcast, or motivational video that can do the actual work for you.
00:42Videos about being 1% better every day might inspire you, but they won't change your life.
00:46That's my issue with motivational content. It sparks excitement, but leaves you without tools.
00:51Let me give you a tool instead, something you can use today to bridge the gap between ideas and action.
00:56Instead of putting more stuff in, take some stuff out.
00:59All you need is this, one pen and one piece of paper.
01:02Then write down what you want.
01:03What do you want?
01:04If you don't know what you want, just write.
01:06If nothing comes up, come back tomorrow and write some more.
01:09And you write, and you write, and you write.
01:11Studies show that people who write down their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them.
01:15Why?
01:16Because it shifts your dreams from abstract to tangible.
01:19From someday to, this is happening.
01:21It may seem trivial, but you've started the process of putting stuff into the world, rather than it staying in your head.
01:27A year from now, your life can look completely different.
01:29But it starts with one small simple step, putting pen to paper.
01:32Because once you start, you'll see just how much can actually happen in a year.
