00:00One of the other important developments during that meeting, those talks in New York,
00:05was that, well, there was going to be a big announcement whereby some sort of a deal was
00:10struck between the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and your president, but
00:14it didn't seem to happen at the last minute. But what sort of a deal, what's the scope of
00:19a possible deal with Israel? What would it look like?
00:22Well, on the first point, I mean, this was all kind of speculation. As someone now who
00:26is in government and is privy to some of these things, it's just sometimes very entertaining
00:30to see the amount of kind of rumors that go around and expectations that build upon expectations
00:36on things. We are engaging with the Israeli government on a security deal, one that goes
00:44into the details of the amount of forces being present on each side of the border, the type
00:49of weaponry, the type of locations. And it's that kind of technical military nature that
00:56guarantees both the security and the sovereignty of Syrians and the security of the region.
01:00And that's what we are kind of really focused on. And the Syrian government has been very
01:06clear that it has no mandate to go beyond that. And that's where the focus will be.
01:12It's just a system or the focus is actually, because that that's, you know, we there's been
01:18more than a thousand Israeli strikes since the fall of the regime and zero retaliation.
01:22There has been, you know, attacks on sites on key military infrastructure, even on sites
01:26that, you know, may contain chemical weapons, which makes our job very much harder now to
01:30get rid of them with the with the with the organization for the prohibition of chemical
01:34weapons. And obviously, the military incursions and supporting certain certain factions in
01:38Sweda that unfortunately put the people in Sweda in a more difficult conundrum and put
01:43some of the Druze communities of Syria in a conundrum because now they have to justify or seen
01:48as such. Well, when when the Syrian government position was like always Druze and Sweda form
01:52an integral part of Syrian society and of Syria. So because of all these kind of incursions
01:57and interventions, we have engaged in kind of security talks that are still ongoing and
02:02they're on the kind of technical fine details at the moment, important details, but kind of
02:08fine details. But there's nothing beyond that.
