00:00Choosing the right putter for your game can be a bit of a minefield, but selecting the right model
00:04is crucial to better performance on the greens. I've tested all the best models from all the
00:09biggest brands and more to help you determine which one will suit your needs. I'm here at the
00:14beautiful Tavistock short game area at Woburn Golf Club, the perfect facility for testing these
00:19putters. So sit back, relax, and let's get into the video. So we're going to start this video
00:26talking about alignment. Now having the right alignment on your putter is crucial to holding
00:31more putts and obviously starting the ball online more often. The first putter that I'm going to
00:36talk about is the PHG Allen. Now this is a very large mallet style head and you do have this
00:42zero torque design where the shaft axis runs straight through the center of gravity
00:46and it can be a little off-putting at address, but once you get it set up behind the ball,
00:50I just feel like it frames the ball really nicely. You've got this aluminium strip here along the back
00:55and one long sight line. So that is perfect for those that see things in a linear fashion.
01:00It makes setting up, like I said, very square and with the technology in the head, you're going to
01:06want to promote a square to square putting path. Now the next one we're going to talk about is a
01:11really new putter and that is the Scotty Cameron Studio Style Square Back 2. Now it does feature some
01:17alignment technology that we've seen from one of its competitors. I won't go too much into that,
01:22but it's something that I really like and again really helps square the putter face at address.
01:27You've got this contrasting chrome and satin silver finish with this black finish across the back there
01:33and you've got this little gap and I'm not really sure what the purpose of that is, but again it
01:37almost just seems to frame the ball really nicely. You've got a little sight line on the top there as
01:42well. Again, really shapes the ball well. So moving on to the Zebra Milled Series 004 putter. Now
01:49most of the putters that are best for alignment are mallet style heads due to the larger footprint
01:55and there's more going on that helps you align that face. But for those blade lovers, I've chosen
02:01this putter because you've got this series of lines on the back here that I think just are absolutely
02:06superb. The shoulders actually curve in as well, which helps promote a flowing stroke. In terms of
02:12blade putters, I feel like it's the easiest to align on the market. But lastly, and my winner for in terms
02:18of alignment is the Odyssey AI-1 Jailbird Mini Double Bend. Now some people like the perpendicular
02:24Versa lines, but they've actually flipped it around here and they run horizontal. So when you set up
02:29behind the ball, this white banner just frames the ball really, really well. And you've got this sight
02:34line on top here that I actually prefer to the three dots we've seen in previous models. And so for
02:39that reason, I think this is the best putter for alignment this year and will help you if you're
02:44struggling to start those putts online. So sound and feel is very subjective when it comes to putting.
02:53Some people like a much firmer feel off the face and some people like a much softer feel. So
02:57I'm going to start with what I feel is the best soft feel putter this year and that is the Ping
03:02Scottsdale answer. Now this new PBax insert here has been designed in that they can take weight out
03:10of the face, redistribute it throughout the head for a higher MOI and more stability, but you get
03:14that incredibly soft feel. I thought it was brilliant, particularly when testing on the fast greens
03:19here at the Tavistock facility at Woburn. And for those playing on fast greens in general and want a
03:24slightly so ball speed, this Scottsdale range is perfect for that. Now the next one we're going to move
03:30on to is actually the Wilson Infinite. Now this is a much, much firmer feel. It's probably one of the
03:35firmest feeling putters I've tested out there and it comes in this blade design as well as a few others.
03:40But for those who play on very soft greens or maybe some greens that are slightly longer grass lengths
03:45and you just really need to get that ball to the hole, this is a great option. So then moving on to
03:51slightly softer, we're going to talk about the Lab Oz 1i. Now this is a new design for this year. It does
03:58have this 303 stainless steel milled insert here, which gives you a really nice roll and it's kind
04:04of on the verge between medium and firm. That's how I would describe it. Now this Oz 1i model does come
04:09in a non-insert model basically with this odd shape. So if you do prefer that softer feel from previous
04:17Lab putters, then you're going to want to check that one out. But if I did have to pick a winner,
04:21it would have to be the Toulon Las Vegas. Now this is the 25 series and it comes in this beautiful
04:28anthracite finish with this racing red and blue tones on the back here in the detail. I just think
04:34it looks superb, but it does come with this double milled design on this 304 stainless steel face. So
04:41it's a much softer material than other milled putters. You do get enough click and feedback
04:47though throughout the shaft to help you with your distance control. And it does come with
04:51quite a soft spongy grip, which again will help with those pace controls over the quick downhill
04:57putts that you want to get your pace just right. Now having a forgiving putter is crucial to helping
05:06you with your distance control, particularly if you are prone to off-centre strikes. And there are three
05:11the putters that stood out for me in particular in this category. The first of those is the Mizuno
05:17M Craft 6, a new putter for this year. And something that's really cool about these putters is the fact
05:21that you have interchangeable weights on the sole here. So you can add weight to make it heavier and
05:26more stable and vice versa. You can make it lighter if that's something you prefer to give you a bit more
05:31feel. But you can also actually change the backs of these putters, changing the look and the design and
05:36also the MIY. So there are a couple of options available so you can choose one that suits your
05:42eye and needs. Now the next putter I want to talk about is one that is widely recognised. It's used on
05:47tour by the likes of Ricky Fowler and that is the Labgolf DF3 putter. It's the largest putter that I
05:54tested and ultimately the most forgiving because of the size of the head. I really like the alignment
06:00aid. I think that helps centre the ball and promotes much more of a centre strike. And deputy editor Joel
06:05Tadman has been using this for over a year and he loves it from long range and even finds when he's
06:10putting through the fringe with a dodgy lie that this gets the ball going and he finds himself getting
06:15the ball to the hole much more often. But if there was one putter that I thought was probably the most
06:20forgiving this year it would have to be the Seymour Mini Giant HTX. Now again this is a large mallet style
06:28head design. It's got these rails on the back that again frame the ball nicely, help you with centre
06:33strike and you've got this rifle design on the putter here which again sets the putter up really
06:38square at address helping promote centre strike. You do have this large milled face here and the
06:44insert actually is probably a little wider than others on the market. I found this putter to be
06:49particularly good when lag putting from 30 feet plus helping me to putt definitely more than I three
06:55putted and I think that's largely down to the internal weights. There's six in total, you've got the two
07:00larger weights on the sole here but then two towards the rear and two on the sides extending
07:05the MOI to the perimeter of the head making it more stable and helping you with those long distance putts.
07:13Just taking a break from this video to say if you are enjoying the video make sure you hit the like
07:17button and subscribe so you don't miss any more Golf Monthly YouTube videos but also if you like any of
07:22the products that you've seen in today's video I'll make sure I'll put the links in the description box
07:26below for the best prices in your area. Now the price of putters like anything seems to have gone
07:35through the roof recently but if you're looking for best bang for your buck then there are a couple
07:40of putters that I think stand out in particular. The first of those is the Cobra this is the CUDA model
07:46and it does have this really soft insert face here it's brilliant for alignment with these three lines on
07:53the back and you've got the LA Golf patented descending loft technology so depending on where
07:59you strike it on the face you should see an even roll helping you with distance control and hopefully
08:06helping you haul more putts. Now the next putter I want to talk about is the Cleveland HB Soft 2. Now
08:11there are multiple models in these ranges so if you don't like this particular head shape then
08:16there are others that you can choose from but this has a really soft face thanks to the deep milling
08:22and it does have the handy kind of tech of being able to pick your ball up through the hole here
08:26on the bottom which is just a nice little feature but if you want a putter that offers the best value
08:31for money I would say it would have to be the Wilson Infinite coming in at just over 100 pounds 109 I
08:37think I saw it online for I feel like this is exceptional value for money it's got this black head with
08:42with white lines that contrast really nicely helping you with alignment it's got a very shallow milling on
08:47the face that does produce a very firm feel but if you play with a softball Wilson Duro softball
08:52for example then they should counteract each other quite nicely helping you get the ball to the hole
08:57more often if it's not up it can't go in right if you're seeking a little more forgiveness with your
09:06putting then you're going to want to opt for a mallet putter now as we talked about in the forgiveness
09:11section a couple of those were mallets and while they were great options I've got three more here that
09:16I think were probably the best in that select category now the first that I want to talk about
09:20is the even roll zero z5s this is a zero torque design as you can see here the shaft runs through
09:27the middle of the center of gravity helping you keep the face square to the path throughout the stroke
09:33I just think this is a great design it's got the classic precision milling that you would expect from
09:39an even roll putter and it's got this sweet face technology here as well which helps deliver a
09:43consistent roll you've got dual weights on the sole here and the hosel can even be changed through this
09:49screw in the bottom here if you want a slightly different neck now the next putter that I'll move
09:54on to is a new putter from Scotty Cameron this is the studio style fastback now I've got this in a long
10:01design which I think is really beneficial for those wanting to take their hands and wrists out the stroke
10:06and just be able to rock the shoulders it comes in a 38 inch length I think there is an option for a
10:12slightly longer one for those taller players but it's got a 17 inch counterbalance grip a slightly
10:17stiffer shaft obviously because of the longer length and heavier tungsten sole weights and with
10:23that comes a new Scotty Cameron face this has this chain link design here which was tested on tour and
10:29loved so much that it's been bought to retail it's a carbon steel so much softer the same metal that
10:35Jordan Spieth uses in his 009 putter and is loved by PGA tour players so in terms of the benefits of
10:42this unique design this longer grip means you can grip all the way down up and down this shaft
10:48depending on what feels comfortable for you if if like me you suffer from a bad back then you might
10:53actually want to grip it right at the top and you can simply just hold on and rock your shoulders I
10:57feel like it squares the face up really well but vice versa if you've got shorter putts and you're a bit more
11:03nervous getting your hands down low getting a bit more weight above the hands as well I feel just
11:08counterbalances that weight even better and just allows you to pop that ball in the hole but if
11:14I was pushed to find one mallet that I thought probably stood out above the rest it would have
11:18to be the tailor-made spider tour now this one is in fact the older kind of head style that was
11:24brought to fame through the likes of Jason Day and Dustin Johnson but this has continued due to its
11:29popularity Scotty Scheffler and Rory McIlroy the world's number one and two are both in a tailor-made
11:35spider putter which I think says a lot about the technology they use through this pure roll design
11:39here on the face this insert is really soft gets the ball rolling really well no matter what surfaces
11:44you're putting on and you even have this dual weighting system in the rear here taking the weight
11:49to the perimeter and increasing the MOI these are standard come with a super stroke pistol 1.0 grip which
11:56I think sits in your hands really well and the flat edge on the grip here helps you just square your
12:02thumbs up helps square the face up and you've got clear path technology and a single sight line
12:07through the back to help even more of alignment so thanks to the alignment technology perimeter
12:12weighting and the performance of the pure roll insert that is why I have found this to be the best
12:18mallet putter that I tested this year it's brilliant from long range and helps me when I get down to those
12:23short five-footers that I really need to hold
12:30so the first putter that I'm going to talk about in the blade category is the Toulon Hollywood
12:35now Hollywood is probably the correct word for this putter because it is absolutely stunning it's got this
12:42black finish this anthracite finish across the top and this sight on top I think just for me I'm
12:47someone who doesn't putt with lines in mind I like to use my feel and this bladed putter really helps
12:53me do so the dot on top again just centers the ball really nicely and the shoulders on the back here
12:59are really really soft now soft is the word that Sean Toulon used to describe this whole range they
13:05wanted it to be soft off the face and soft in looks and they have absolutely nailed it with this putter
13:10you do get two weights on the bottom here as well to just increase the MOI a touch for a milled putter
13:15I think you can't go wrong with this now an honorable mention in this category would have to be the
13:21Wilson staff model BL22 now it comes with these two 10 gram weights again to help with stability but
13:28it does offer quite a firm feel thanks to the shallow milling on the face here but if you're someone who
13:34likes that kind of clicky sound off the face then this is certainly a blade you're going to want to check out
13:39now for those of you that prefer a center shafted design and a zero torque design at that this is
13:45the better nadi the antidote sb1 sb1 stands for simply balance one they also have a number two which
13:51is a much much larger mallet head design but the alignment features here are really really cool you've
13:57got this kind of t-bar alignment although they are unjoined on the back of the flange and the top line
14:02here you also get the beautiful honeycomb milling on the sole here which i think looks absolutely
14:08superb in your hand and down behind the ball i just feel like it frames the ball really nicely
14:14despite being a center shafted putter it you don't get the shaft lean that you get on other
14:19zero torque models this one just sits bolt upright and i think position makes your hands just sit behind
14:25the ball really really well the technology in the face here as well is very very soft which helped me
14:30with distance control it's not as forgiving as you can imagine as other zero torque putters that
14:36have a much larger head but it's really really consistent once you get inside 15 feet if i was to
14:42pick one winner for the blade category though it would have to be this kevin burns 9307 putter now
14:49for those of you slightly unfamiliar with the name kevin burns he is a master putter maker that has been
14:53around for a long time and he is building putters out of california the milling on this thing is
14:59absolutely exceptional it is so clean you've got this sight line on the top here his little kind of
15:04k and then a fire pit logo on the bottom there and he does actually feature this tungsten sole
15:11weight here which counteracts the weight in the hill so you get a really nice balanced design the face
15:16itself produces a really really soft feel which i really like it's this kind of pyramid design which the
15:22spikes kind of poke up minimizing the amount of ball on the face which helps then eradicate any kind of
15:29vibrations up the shaft producing a really soft feel helping you with distance control and for that
15:33reason this is my favorite blade putter of this year now there have been some fantastic putter releases
15:43this year as well as some carry-on products from last year that i thought were exceptional but there was
15:48one putter for me that stood out in 2025 and that is the lab golf oz1i now if you've seen my best zero
15:57torque putters video you'll actually see that the odyssey square to square cruiser actually won that
16:02video beating this putter but since then i've had a couple more months testing and i've just found i click
16:08better with this one i think it's down to the standard length that i've got on this and i really really
16:13enjoyed the forward press pistol grip that comes with this putter it's two degrees essentially
16:18offsetting the shaft lean that you get on this putter now you can get these with zero shaft lean
16:23if you prefer i guess a more standard conventional center shafted design but i think these are designed
16:30this way for a reason and for that reason i prefer it with the shaft lean in play so why have i chosen
16:36this as my favorite putter well i just became really really consistent from range helping me to putt
16:42certainly more than i was three putting and then down behind the ball i just got used to the shaft lean
16:47on the putter setting my hands slightly in front of the ball from producing a really centered strike
16:52when i got inside the scoring zone i found i was just hauling a few more putts from that 10 foot range
16:56really bolstering my scores and ultimately putting comes down to about 50 percent of your score on the
17:01golf course my scores were tumbling and i just started falling in love with this putter so thanks for
17:06watching that's all from me thank you to woburn for hosting us here at the beautiful tavistock short
17:11game area hope you enjoyed the video and helped you select which putter may be best for your game
17:16we'll see you next time
