The Travancore Devaswom Board’s Vigilance wing has recovered the pedestal (peedam) of the Dwarapalaka idols from Sabarimala temple. The peedam was found at the residence of a sponsor’s relative in Thiruvananthapuram, officials confirmed on Sunday.
00:00Breaking news coming in, it seems the Sabarimala relic which was considered to be looted has now been recovered.
00:08This was a gold pedestal of the Dwark Palaka which was missing for a while when it went for polishing and maintenance.
00:16This is a holy relic and now it has been found in the house of a relative of the man who had sponsored this entire cleaning activity.
00:26And Sabarimala's relic, was it the loot and inside job? This is a question that is being asked and there was a probe also that's ongoing temple board vigilance has seized this missing relic.
00:38This is a pedestal, it has gold plates on it and remember when it was being sent for maintenance it was weighed and then later on when it came back there was 4 kgs of gold which was less.
00:56Now this has led to huge allegations of whether there was a thievery, what had happened, where had that 4 kgs had gone, the pedestal was missing, this was of the Dwark Palak, the idol of the Dwark Palak that was missing.
01:14Joining us now live from Trivandrum is Shibhi Molkeji. Shibhi do tell us what has happened with the pedestal, how was it found, is it still being considered a case of missing or a loot?
01:29Well, these are in connection with the gold pedestal, that's part of the Dwark Palak idols.
01:41Now the sponsor had taken these idols and the gold pedestal for repairs and replating in 2019 and later he had informed that the gold pedestal had gone missing.
01:52The High Court recently ordered a vigilance prob into the weight reduction of the Dwark Palak idols and also into the gold pedestal of the Dwark Palak idols and that's when in the prob now the vigilance has found that this missing gold pedestal has now been found in one of the residents of a relative of the sponsor.
02:11So what the government and the Devasa Mood are saying is that they suspect a conspiracy behind this.
02:17The sponsor was lying is what they are anticipating, what they are, you know, what they found out considering that he initially claimed that it had gone missing and a prob was already announced to investigate as to where this went missing.
02:30But it's been found from the residents of his relative itself, which means he was lying, there was a larger conspiracy.
02:35The court will take up the matter today and later based on what the court decides is that next procedure is what we are understanding as of now.
