00:02How's your day going so far?

00:11Well, that's intense.

00:16So during the making of the first Guardians of the Galaxy,

00:18you talked about constructing a Bible that really

00:21kind of defined certain, both the past, present, and future

00:23of kind of the Marvel Cosmic Universe.

00:26I'm curious how those ideas and kind of what

00:28was going to evolve into volume two wound up changing

00:30into the movie that we see.

00:32Well, I mean, you know, a lot of it didn't change.

00:34I mean, I think the basics of the relationship between Peter

00:37Quill and Yondu and Ego and all of them, and Kraglin,

00:41and all those characters we set down in the first movie,

00:44that all is pretty consistent with the Bible

00:47that I gave to Kevin Feige in the first film.

00:52After all these years, I've found you.

00:56And who the hell are you?

00:58I'm your dad, Peter.

01:01You mentioned Ego.

01:02How early on did you actually know that Ego was going to be

01:04Starla's father?

01:05You're the first person I'm telling this.

01:07I knew who Ego was as a character.

01:09I knew what he was able to do.

01:12But I didn't initially know I was going to use Ego the Living

01:16Planet as that character, if that makes sense.

01:18Yeah.

01:19But it was pretty early that I knew it was Ego.

01:21But I didn't share that with Kevin until after Guardians 1 made

01:26so much money.

01:27And that's when I came in and said, OK, I think his dad is going

01:29to be this living planet.

01:30So is it just because it was an outlandish idea?

01:32I thought it was an outlandish idea.

01:33I thought maybe they would balk at the idea of making Ego the

01:36Living Planet as his parent.

01:38I guess.

01:38But yeah, the first movie, you do kind of capitalize on the weirds so

01:41much that I guess it gives you some level of credibility.

01:43I mean, I think that you trust people through a couple of different ways.

01:47One is you learn to trust them through the kind of job that they do

01:52and how responsible they are, which I think I'm both.

01:55I hope that I'm good at my job and I'm responsible and that I come under

01:59budget and I do what I can to do that.

02:01And then the other way is to see how the public likes what they do.

02:05And the second one is what I waited for.

02:07So we're saving the galaxy again.

02:09Yep.

02:10Awesome.

02:12We're really going to be able to jack up our prices for two-time galaxy savers.

02:16And I mean, in terms of just the future, I know that you are involved with

02:19Infinity War.

02:20Yeah.

02:21You are serving as a producer, helping work on the script.

02:22How is that same Bible kind of applying to that?

02:25Well, I think of, you know, Infinity War is sort of a stopgap for the, you know,

02:29for the Guardians.

02:30They're supporting players in an Avengers movie.

02:33And so they will remain who they are and they'll remain true to themselves within that

02:37film.

02:38But in terms of the larger story of the Guardians, you know, I think a lot

02:42of that is going to come as we move forward in the MCU.

02:45One thing I do have to ask about is the Stan Lee watcher scene, because it blew my mind,

02:49A.

02:50But I'm just, I'm curious if you could talk about just the implication of it.

02:53Because thinking about the cameos in other Marvel movies, not MCU, there's a certain kind

02:58of connectivity there, no?

02:59Perhaps.

03:00Perhaps.

03:01I mean, I think people will need to infer from it what they infer.

03:05But yes, I mean, I'm definitely aware of the, you know, he's doing some work for the

03:09Watchers.

03:10I love that.

03:11And that might be, that might apply to our own universe, in fact.

03:13I was about to say, yeah.

03:14Sure.

03:15He's just another watcher within this multiverse.

03:16Exactly.

03:17I saw Stan yesterday.

03:24Well, I mean, actually, just kind of on that concept, I mean, five post-credit scenes is,

03:28that's a new thing for Marvel.

03:30I mean, was that something you had to convince them on?

03:32I mean, what was the process there?

03:33They thought it was hilarious.

03:34No, no, I didn't have to convince them at all.

03:36I'm like, you know, let's just, people love post-credit scenes, so let's just do five of

03:40them.

03:41They're like, okay.

03:42You're kind of setting the bar high for everybody else.

03:44Yeah.

03:45Do you have a favorite amongst them?

03:47The, you know, honestly, probably the first, the Kraglin one is probably my favorite,

03:53because he's just so funny in that scene.
