02:53dönemin siyasi ve askeri hareketliliğinin izlerini taşıyan kıymetli kültürel varlıklarımızdır.
03:00Kültür varlığı kaçakçılığıyla mücadele, sınır aşan niteliği, karmaşık yapısı ve örgütlü faaliyetlerle yürütülmesi nedeniyle uluslararası iş birliğini de zorunlu kılmaktadır.
03:13Kültür varlığı kaçakçılığıyla mücadelenin mümkünse tüm devletlerle ikili anlaşmalar imzalanarak ve bu iş birliği koşullarının açık bir şekilde kararlaştırarak sürdürülmesi önem arz etmektedir.
03:27Türkiye ile ABD arasındaki bu güçlü iş birliği yalnızca iki ülke için değil, uluslararası toplum için de örnek bir model oluşturmaktadır.
03:40İnancım odur ki bu ortaklığımız önümüzdeki dönemde daha da gelişecek ve başka ülkelere de ilham kaynağı olacaktır.

04:45Thank you for the opportunity to be here.
04:46It's been a pleasure to talk with the deputy minister and to see many friends such as Zeynep, Boz, and others.
04:56This is an exciting event for me personally.
05:02I'm here today in my current capacity as the charge d'affaires of the U.S. Embassy de Türkiye.
05:08But when I'm not in this temporary role, I am the minister-counselor for public diplomacy at the embassy.
05:15And I oversee the cultural property program.
05:18So I am very passionate about the cultural heritage cooperation between our two countries.
05:26And like everyone else, I enjoy a good law enforcement story, a good police TV show.
05:34So you can imagine my interest as I spoke with my colleague Steve Mora at the U.S. Embassy,
05:41who heads our Homeland Security Investigations Office.
05:45He described the activities of this group over the past week
05:51as you have walked through the stages of an artifact smuggling investigation
05:57from the perspective of U.S. law enforcement.
06:00And it was fascinating for me to learn about the process.
06:04One thing that surprised me was how much paperwork was involved.
06:08In the TV shows, they never showed the paperwork involved in these investigations.
06:12Today marks the final and most significant step in this process,
06:20the repatriation of the artifacts.
06:22Today, we're returning these coins to their rightful home here in Turkey.
06:27And I'm honored to take part in this event and this occasion with you.
06:33This case and this event, they're just one example of the longstanding, successful cooperation
06:41between the United States and Turkey in countering artifact smuggling.
06:47Over the years, Homeland Security Investigations, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism,
06:54Turkish law enforcement, they've worked side by side to recover and repatriate hundreds of stolen artifacts.
07:01This partnership transcends borders and strengthens both of our nations.
07:08It is my sincere hope that our collaboration will continue to grow
07:13as we work together to dismantle the transnational criminal networks involved in this illicit trafficking.
07:21I would like to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for supporting this week's workshop.
07:28I also extend appreciation to our partners in the Turkish National Police, Customs Enforcement, and the Gendarmer.
