00:00Grandma Gramps are here. Is dad with them? No. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're exploring
00:07the times a television show chose not to recast and instead killed off a character due to the
00:12actor passing away. From what I hear, you've been a rock for everyone, so I know that that
00:16means that sometimes you don't get to grieve yourself. I'm okay. Albert Pops Solomon, The
00:23Goldbergs. From the first episode of The Goldbergs, George Siegel was there as Pops.
00:27I hear someone turned 16 and could use a new car. Holy crap, for me? I don't love you that much.
00:34This baby's mine. The Oscar nominee and two-time Golden Globe winner was the perfect casting for
00:39the role. Siegel was able to capture the caring and nurturing side of Pops, as well as his more
00:43mischievous side. However, in 2021, Siegel unfortunately had complications as he underwent
00:48bypass surgery and passed away. His last on-screen appearance as Pops took place in season 8's
00:53couple off. In the first episode of season 9, The Goldbergs' Excellent Adventure, the cast and crew
01:00paid tribute to Siegel and Pops. The Goldbergs visit Pops' favorite places, sharing memories of
01:05their beloved grandfather, father, and friend. Andrew Campbell, Mad Men. Early in the show,
01:10Pete Campbell was one of the most insufferable characters on TV.
01:13I don't think taking you to lunch is part of my job. Do you have something today? No. I thought
01:19you'd be happy to see me. I called Hildy and asked if you were free. It'll only take a minute,
01:24I promise. I'm sorry. Armed with entitlement and mountains of spite, he'd do anything to get ahead,
01:30except put in hard work. When we meet his father, Andrew, we can see why Pete's this way. With
01:35disapproving and emotionally cold parents, Pete didn't have much support. In season 2, Mad Men had the
01:40episode Flight 1, which involved the real-life disaster of American Airlines Flight 1 in 1962.
01:45During the show, it's revealed that Andrew was on the plane.
02:00In 2008, Andrew actor Christopher Allport was at the ski resort Mountain High in California
02:05when multiple avalanches took place. Sadly, he and two others didn't survive.
02:10Zebulon Zeb Walton. The Waltons. After being blacklisted from Hollywood for refusing to testify
02:16before the House Committee on Un-American Activities in the 1950s, Will Gere did incredibly well,
02:21carving out a successful late career. After all, he collected an Emmy in 1975 for his work as Zeb in
02:26the Waltons, helping to turn the show into a cultural phenomenon. In season 7, the writers had
02:38to rework the scripts after Ellen Corby, who played his on-screen wife Esther, suffered a stroke that
02:43was mirrored by her character. However, before season 8 filming started, Gere passed away from
02:48respiratory failure. The first two episodes of that season began with the family coping with Zeb's
02:52passing, leading to them giving the beloved character and his actor a eulogy at his grave.
02:57You did, Bob, but you taught me how to take hold in my own way.
03:01Glenn Carter. The Blacklist. As a child, Clark Middleton was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid
03:06arthritis, a disease that causes great pain and physical problems. Yet despite that, he made a
03:10successful career as a character actor, which led to him being cast as Glenn in The Blacklist.
03:15It's as if you enjoy making people miserable.
03:18I work at the DMV! Playing the role of a DMV worker who moonlights as a tracker of people and
03:23objects and has a history with Red, Glenn became a fan favorite of the show. However, in the season
03:28episode, The Wellstone Agency, we learn Glenn has died from the West Nile virus. In real life in 2020,
03:34Middleton had passed away from the same disease. James Spader's Red gave a heartfelt eulogy in the
03:38episode to not only Glenn, but to Middleton.
03:40But there was one thing Glenn was not, and that's afraid. Glenn was not afraid.
03:56Dr. Charles Kroger. Monk. If it wasn't for Kroger, Monk would never have been able to return
04:00as a consultant detective. His therapist and friend helped him cope with his nervous breakdown
04:16and OCD following his wife's murder. Even through Monk's ups and downs, Kroger was there
04:20as his emotional pillar, even if the duo clashed occasionally. In the first episode of Season 7
04:25of Monk, Mr. Monk Buys a House, we discover that Kroger had suffered a fatal heart attack
04:29as Monk struggles to come to terms with it.
04:31Kept reaching for the phone to call.
04:34Dr. Kroger. I know. I miss him too.
04:38This sadly mirrored what happened to Stanley Camel, who portrayed the character of Kroger.
04:43In 2008, he was found at his home after suffering a heart attack.
04:46Richard Gilmore. Gilmore Girls, A Year in the Light. As the patriarch of the Gilmore clan,
04:50Richard was heavily featured in the original run of the TV show Gilmore Girls.
04:54Hi, Dad.
04:57What is it? Christmas already?
04:59Lorelai was taking a business class at the college today and decided to drop in to see us.
05:04What business class?
05:06Well, she told us about it, dear, remember?
05:08No.
05:09With his traditional view of life coming from wealth, this occasionally brought him into
05:12conflict with his daughter Lorelai. Played by Edward Herman, the Emmy and Tony winner brought
05:16his exceptional experience to the role. When the revival miniseries Gilmore Girls,
05:21A Year in the Life debuted, Richard was set to leave a big hole in the family.
05:24Two years before the show aired in 2014, Herman sadly passed away from cancer. The first episode
05:30of the revival featured the family coping with Richard's loss from the after effects of the
05:34heart attack he suffered in the original show.
05:36How dare you call me an idiot? I just lost my husband. I just lost my father.
05:41And you couldn't care less. That's horrible. You're horrible.
05:48Get out.
05:49Bubby, Arthur. Over the years, the children's cartoon has had many famous guest stars who
05:54typically appear once. Yet they managed to get the legendary comedian Joan Rivers to come
05:58back multiple times as Bubby, Francine's grandmother, a role which got her nominated for a daytime Emmy.
06:03However, in season 25, the episode Listen Up had Francine cope with the passing of Bubby
06:12as her friends rallied behind her. In 2014, Rivers experienced terrible complications during minor throat
06:17surgery, sadly leading to the comedian's death. During the investigation, several severe errors by
06:23the medical team were discovered, which contributed to her passing.
06:25In 2016, Melissa Rivers settled a malpractice lawsuit against those involved in her mother's
06:37demise. George Gramps Miller, Lassie After working as a vaudevillian before making
06:41his name in Hollywood, George Cleveland was cast as the hardworking farmer Gramps in the Lassie TV show.
06:47However, while filming season 4, Cleveland sadly died from a heart attack. In the episode The
07:03Transition, the Miller family mourned the loss of Gramps. The show creators spoke with child
07:07psychologists as this was one of the first times a family program was tackling death. However,
07:12the network and sponsors reportedly require that certain words around death not be uttered. Instead,
07:16the characters spoke about losing Gramps as they gave tribute. The death of Gramps was then used
07:21as a catalyst for removing the Millers from Lassie and replacing them with the Martins.
07:24Goodbye, girl.
07:25J.R. Ewing, Dallas No character has become as synonymous with a soap opera as J.R. and Dallas,
07:32so much so that Larry Hagman's work in the role saw the character regularly topping lists of the
07:37greatest TV villains.
07:38Jordan, I told you I needed that cash for other deals.
07:41You knew those wells were gonna be worthless and you suckered your friends into buying the leases.
07:46Now, hold on a minute, Jordan. We took quite a beating on that ourselves.
07:50In 2012, the Revival series aired. Hagman had disclosed the previous year that he was battling
07:55cancer. Sadly, it led to his death in 2012. In season 2, the show aired the episode The Furious
08:01and the Fast. Featuring unused footage of Hagman as J.R., he spoke on the phone to John Ross until
08:06multiple shots rang out, kicking off a whodunit storyline he was famous for.
08:10J.R. Hello? Dad! Dad! Dad?
08:22In the original Dallas run, Jock Ewing perished in a helicopter crash after the actor Jim Davis
08:27passed away in 1981.
08:29Peter Gregory, Silicon Valley A major character in the first season of Silicon
08:33Valley, Peter Gregory was a socially awkward tech investor hoping to get a piece of Pied Piper.
08:38I'm paying you $200,000 for 5%, yet you're giving this man twice that in exchange for a futon and some sandwiches?
08:48He was played by Christopher Evan Welsh, who was unfortunately taken from us at a relatively young age.
08:53Welsh was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010 and passed away three years later at the age of 48.
08:58He died on December 2, 2013, four months before Silicon Valley premiered on HBO.
09:04Come back in 48 hours with an airtight business plan, a clear go-to-market strategy, and a three-year summary P&L, or there will be no check!
09:14Welsh was about midway through filming the first season, having completed five of its eight episodes.
09:19It was later explained that Peter Gregory died while on a trip to the Serengeti.
09:23Peter Gregory is dead.
09:25What?
09:34Holy shit!
09:35Sergeant Phil Esterhaus, Hill Street Blues.
09:38A highly acclaimed police drama, Hill Street Blues was way ahead of its time and is regarded
09:43as a predecessor to the prestige cable dramas of the 2000s.
09:46Michael Conrad played Sergeant Phil Esterhaus, known for his iconic catchphrase.
09:50Let's be careful out here.
09:52Conrad won two Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor before passing away in November 1983 from urethral cancer.
09:59Off the record, you promised me you'd be careful out there, but you weren't.
10:03That goes double for me, Frank.
10:05Conrad was 58 years old, and the show was in the middle of its fourth season.
10:08Esterhaus was subsequently killed off, but not how you may think.
10:12Rather than going out in a blaze of glory, he dies while making love.
10:15Phil Esterhaus passed away this morning.
10:17Suffered a heart attack.
10:20It's different, but it sure is memorable.
10:23Selma Hacker and Florence Kleiner, Night Court.
10:26This NBC sitcom suffered a number of tragedies with eerie similarities.
10:30The first two seasons starred a gruff, chain-smoking character named Selma Hacker, played by an actress named Selma Diamond.
10:36Selma, you haven't touched your food.
10:39I've touched it, I've chewed it, I've swallowed it.
10:42Now it's up to my enzymes.
10:44Unfortunately, Diamond died of lung cancer on May 13, 1985, just four days after the season 2 finale.
10:50Her character was killed off and replaced with Flo Kleiner, played by Florence Halep.
10:54What can I do for you?
10:55I'm here for the job.
10:57What job is that?
10:59What is this, a wetsuit?
11:02Well, we interviewed for bailiffs last week.
11:05I'm late.
11:06Like Diamond before her, Halep died of lung cancer shortly after the conclusion of season 3.
11:11And like her predecessor, Flo Kleiner was killed off with her death being announced by Judge Harry Stone.
11:15When Selma died, I felt loss.
11:20When Florence died, I felt loss.
11:23Because I cared very much for them.
11:25Carl Konisky, Gimme a Break.
11:28This was an incredibly successful sitcom in its day, running for six seasons between 1981 and 1987.
11:34It starred Dolph Sweet as Chief Carl Konisky, a widowed police officer who's often at odds with his daughters.
11:39What are you reading this garbage for?
11:42It's our school work.
11:43Is that what they teach you?
11:45No wonder the schools are overcrowded.
11:47Sweet was informed midway through the fourth season that he had stomach cancer, but he continued to film the show.
11:52He ultimately died from the cancer on May 8, 1985, just three days before the fourth season finale.
11:57Wait a minute, Chief. Jonathan is a very nice young man. It's just that whenever he's around you, he falls apart. You just have to get to know him.
12:07No, I don't.
12:08Sweet's funeral was held on the night of its airing, with his co-star Nell Carter delivering the eulogy.
12:13Season 5 opens with an acknowledgment that Chief had died, and the episode is handled with mature grace as the characters learn to grieve his passing.
12:20Listen, Joey. The Chief is no longer with us, so you're just gonna have to show him some respect.
12:31Neil Winters, The Young and the Restless
12:33Perhaps the most famous soap opera in TV history, The Young and the Restless has been going strong since 1973, and has aired well over 12,000 episodes.
12:42Between 1991 and 2019, Christophe St. John starred as Neil Winters and won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his performance.
12:49Since 1991, he played Neil Winters on the soap opera and earned two Emmys for his role.
12:54St. John died at the age of 52 from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart thickens to an abnormal size and is thus unable to pump blood correctly.
13:03Christophe St. John also leaves behind two daughters, and tonight, so many questions over his untimely death.
13:11His death occurred on February 3, 2019, and just two months later, his character was killed off after suffering a stroke.
13:17You're the voice that carries through I'm still learning, learning, learning
13:24Sergeant Nick Yamana, Barney Miller
13:27A popular ABC sitcom, Barney Miller took place within a police station and concerned the wacky officers that inhabited it.
13:33One of them was Sergeant Nick Yamana, a philosophical man known for making a particularly bad cup of coffee.
13:39Come on, you know I depend on you for a hundred different things.
13:43Coffee, filing, spring cleaning.
13:47Yeah, but also for your experience, your sense of humor that gets us through the day.
13:53Nick was played by Jack Sue, who died of cancer midway through the show's fifth season on January 11, 1979.
13:59It was later implied that Nick had died, and the fifth season ends with the episode Jack Sue, a retrospective.
14:05He said to each of us, sit down and write something you'd like to say about your relationship with Jack.
14:12Whatever you'd like to say.
14:15It sees the actor as breaking character to acknowledge the legacy of their co-worker, and it closes with everyone raising a cup of coffee and salute.
14:22To you, Jack.
14:24Dr. Virgil Swann, Smallville
14:27This superhero show about a young Clark Kent features an exceptionally cool cameo from Christopher Reeve, who played the hero in four Superman movies.
14:34Easy, miss. I've got you.
14:37You've got me? Who's got you?
14:40In 1995, Reeve was in an accident that left him with paralysis, and his use of a wheelchair was written into the character of Dr. Virgil Swann.
14:48It's a message from the stars, Clark. All my life I've been staring out into space, wondering.
14:55Is anybody else out there? And then, thirteen years ago, I got an answer.
15:00It was a brilliant and touching passing of the torch that honored the series' iconic history.
15:05Unfortunately, Reeve fell into a coma after going into cardiac arrest, and died on October 10, 2004.
15:11In the fourth season episode, Sacred, which aired four months later, a newscast explains that Dr. Swann had also died.
15:18We have just confirmed that Dr. Virgil Swann passed away this morning.
15:23No further details have been released. The reclusive billionaire will be remembered as one of the leading philanthropists of his generation.
15:32Livia Soprano, The Sopranos. Our vote for the worst mother in TV history has to go to Livia Soprano.
15:38Listen to him, he knows everything. You want some lunch? I got eggplant.
15:42No, no, I just ate.
15:44A real nasty piece of work, Livia served as a primary antagonist throughout the first two seasons, often coming into conflict with her son Tony.
15:51Before you do any more serious damage to yourself or your grandchildren's inheritance, you're gonna stop living alone right now.
15:57This show is known for having some anti-climaxes and Livia's role as one of them.
16:01A major plotline between Tony and Livia is established at the start of the third season, but then she randomly dies of a stroke off screen and the story is promptly dropped.
16:09This is because Nancy Marchand, the woman who expertly portrayed Livia, had died in real life after a bout with various lung diseases.
16:27Barry Frost, Rizzoli and Isles.
16:30A TNT police procedural, Rizzoli and Isles stars Angie Harmon as Boston detective Jane Rizzoli.
16:36This looks more like a squad room than a home.
16:39Yeah.
16:40Jane, you need a break.
16:41A home is a refuge, a place where you're supposed to get away from your problems.
16:45Some psycho burns it down.
16:47Her partner through the first four seasons was a computer whiz named Barry Frost, who was played by Lee Thompson Young.
16:53Ross, your mom's here.
16:54Hey, mom.
16:55How'd you get here so fast?
16:56We got off to an early start.
16:58In August of 2013, Young was filming the fourth season of Rizzoli and Isles, when he failed to show up to set.
17:03A well-being check was conducted, and it was found that Young had taken his own life.
17:07He was only 29 years old.
17:09Barry's last appearance occurs in the penultimate episode of season four, and it's explained in the fifth season premiere that he died in a car accident.
17:16Barry was so many things to so many people.
17:21Mrs. Wolowitz, The Big Bang Theory.
17:23Carol Ann Susie was a highly talented voice actress.
17:26With nothing but her signature rasp, Susie made the unseen Mrs. Wolowitz an enduring hilarious and unforgettable character.
17:33I suppose I could stay for some dessert.
17:35Great.
17:36You like chocolate chip cheesecake?
17:37Sure.
17:38I'll make one.
17:39And she died as she lived, completely off screen.
17:42Mrs. Wolowitz dies in the eighth season episode, The Comic Book Store Regeneration, and it's explained that she passed in her sleep while visiting her sister in Florida.
17:50What's wrong?
17:51My mom died.
17:52What?
17:53That was my aunt.
17:54Ma took a nap.
17:55She never woke up.
17:56Susie's death was just as sudden and surprising.
17:57She went in for a medical procedure and discovered that she was suffering from cancer.
18:13Her health quickly worsened and she passed away just one week later at the age of 62.
18:18Bill McNeil, News Radio.
18:20Phil Hartman brought his signature style of comedy to a variety of projects, including Saturday Night Live where he earned an Emmy.
18:27There's gonna be a whole bunch of things we don't tell, Mrs. Clinton.
18:32Fast food is the least of our worries.
18:34One of his most beloved roles was on news radio as Bill McNeil, an egotistical yet hilarious anchor at the WNYX station.
18:42Dave's gone too far this time. Imagine an office without snacks.
18:47Hartman played McNeil for four out of five seasons.
18:50Tragically, after the show's fourth season, Hartman was fatally shot by his wife before she took her own life.
18:55The show's fifth season premiere was able to act as a tribute to the character by saying his character died off screen from a heart attack.
19:02As far as memorial services go, I thought that was very nice.
19:05His absence on the show was definitely felt by all.
19:08Ernie Coach Pantuso. Cheers.
19:11Every character on this classic sitcom brings their specific charm.
19:14For the bartender, Ernie Coach Pantuso, it was his sweet but very dim-witted nature.
19:19How many times did you play hurt, Sam?
19:21Now and then.
19:22I must have got hit by a hundred fastballs.
19:24Actor Nicholas Calasanto embodied Coach's personality flawlessly and turned him into one of the most popular characters.
19:31Sadly, the actor passed away in 1985 from a heart attack after playing Coach for the first three seasons.
19:37Coach, we were gonna kiss.
19:40We were?
19:43Do you mind if I do these for a second?
19:45Since his passing occurred in the middle of season three, his character was initially just not around.
19:50But the season four premiere eventually confirmed Coach had died.
19:53Woody Harrelson was brought in to fill the role of the bar's resident dummy with a heart of gold.
19:57I'm a friend of Coach's, is he around?
19:59I'm sorry Woody, I guess you hadn't heard.
20:02No, uh, Coach passed away a couple months ago.
20:06But yeah, I'd like to think he's still around.
20:08During the finale, the show still took a moment to pay one final tribute to Coach.
20:13Edna Krabappel, The Simpsons.
20:15The Simpsons has an incredible cast of kooky recurring characters.
20:18One of the most frequently featured staples was the cynical elementary school teacher, Edna Krabappel.
20:23Mrs. Krabappel, if I don't get at least a C average, I can't go to Camp Krusty.
20:27Have a delightful summer.
20:30During Marsha Wallace's 14-year history as the character, she earned an Emmy for outstanding voiceover performance.
20:36In 2013, the actress passed away due to complications from pneumonia.
20:40Although Krabappel's death was never explicitly stated on the show, there are several hints towards that being the case.
20:45I have to stay here in Springfield because boys like Bart Simpson need me.
20:49Bart's chalkboard message to her following Wallace's passing and several mentions of her from other characters made it clear that Edna didn't simply retire.
20:58Mr. Hooper, Sesame Street.
21:00Although the majority of the most famous characters from this educational series are puppets,
21:04Mr. Hooper certainly left his mark.
21:08While the owner of Hooper's store could be a bit harsh, he undeniably had a warm heart.
21:13Will Lee played Mr. Hooper from the show's beginning in 1969 until 1982 when he died of a heart attack.
21:19No one would have blamed the kids show for writing the character off in a gentle way.
21:23Last but not least, ta-da!
21:26Oh, look at that one!
21:28That's so beautiful!
21:29However, the show decided to address his death through a storyline with Big Bird in a way its young viewers could understand.
21:35Big Bird, when people die, they don't come back.
21:40Ever?
21:41No, never.
21:42Sesame Street was praised for handling such a serious topic with sensitivity and understanding.
21:49They made sure that children and adults could say goodbye to Lee's Mr. Hooper.
21:53Owen Granger, NCIS Los Angeles.
21:56Miguel Ferrer went from playing recurring character Owen Granger on NCIS Los Angeles to being a part of the main fabric of the show.
22:03Go into the main building, tell him to lock the doors and keep security and PD away. I'll handle this.
22:08While he was still acting on the program, he was diagnosed with throat cancer.
22:12A behind-the-scenes decision was made to reveal that the Granger character was also suffering from a cancer ailment caused by risky career choices.
22:19I'm afraid he's gone. Gone?
22:25From what I understand, one minute he was here and the next minute he wasn't.
22:30Within the show, the character left a hospital where he was being treated to spend time with his family.
22:34In real life, Ferrer had passed away in a house he shared with his loved ones.
22:38The show concluded Granger's storyline by letting the audience know he had died peacefully in a beautiful place.
22:44I got to know my father and he got to know me. It was a wonderful week.
22:49Leo McGarry, The West Wing.
22:51Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing had a wonderful cast of deep characters and engaging plotlines that helped earn the show more than two dozen Emmys.
22:58One of its Emmys went to John Spencer, who played the president's chief of staff, Leo McGarry.
23:02Well, you're president of the United States. You're delivering the State of the Union address tomorrow night.
23:07India and Pakistan are pointing nuclear weapons at each other and you have a 102 degree fever.
23:12So I guess we're out of the woods.
23:14McGarry's dynamics with other characters was fascinating to watch.
23:17His friendship with President Jed Bartlett was particularly engaging.
23:21Sadly, that friendship was cut short when Spencer died of a heart attack in 2005, partway through filming the show's final season.
23:28At the time, Leo was running for vice president.
23:30The series had him also die of a heart attack on election night.
23:33In a touching moment, the writers made it clear Leo would have become vice president.
23:37Thanks, boss.
23:39Fred Andrews – Riverdale
23:44Luke Perry became a teen icon while playing Dylan on Beverly Hills' 90210.
23:48He returned for a whole new generation of teen drama on Riverdale to play Archie's father, Fred Andrews.
23:53Welcome home, Ferris. Sneaking out, breaking curfew, getting into fights.
23:59Dad, don't freak out, okay?
24:00I was with Josie helping the pussycats with a song they're doing at that Taste of Riverdale thing.
24:06And I was hoping you would let me go.
24:07Thanks to Perry's fine work, his relationship with his son felt real and the character felt incredibly compassionate.
24:13The show demonstrated his selflessness by having Fred sacrifice his life to push a stranger out of the path of a speeding car.
24:19Another vehicle came upon them way too fast and he was struck by it.
24:28In reality, this turn was written in response to Perry's passing of a stroke in 2019 at just 52.
24:33Riverdale's season four In Memoriam episode served as a touching tribute to the character and actor.
24:39Perry's Beverly Hills co-star Shannon Doherty also made a guest appearance as the stranger he saved.
24:44You're the one he was helping.
24:46I mean cars just, you know, they kept, they kept whizzing by, nobody would stop but your dad did.
24:59Finn Hudson, Glee.
25:00Cory Monteith was best known for playing Glee's Finn Hudson.
25:03The star quarterback celebrated his love for singing by joining the signature club.
25:07After four years of playing the character, the world was rocked with shocking news.
25:20The 31-year-old was found dead in his hotel room with a mix of alcohol and other substances in his system.
25:25Following his death, the production start date for the show's fifth season was pushed back.
25:29Sort of cheesy.
25:30How it's beautiful.
25:31I just had to see it.
25:32They eventually addressed Finn's passing in the quarterback without giving details about how he died.
25:44For the remainder of the series, the show continued to honor the memory of one of the Glee Club's brightest stars.
25:49Adam West, Family Guy.
25:51For years, the silly antics of Mayor Adam West provided some of the best moments on Family Guy.
25:56Having the hilariously odd character actually be voiced by the former Batman star just made everything more delightful.
26:02My name isn't Adam Wee.
26:04Or is it?
26:06Who am I?
26:07What number did you dial?
26:08Don't ever call here again.
26:10I guess I told him.
26:12Nobody messes with Adam Wee.
26:15In 2017, West died from leukemia and, like the rest of us, Family Guy said goodbye to its mare.
26:21But life in Quahog continued on.
26:23The town's high school was renamed after West in tribute.
26:25In his stead, his cousin Wild West, voiced by Sam Elliott, took his place.
26:29The show similarly had to write out Angela, Peter's former boss, when her voice actress Carrie Fisher passed away from a stroke in 2016.
26:37She may be gone, but her voice will live on in DVD and Hulu Plus and tiny droid projected messages.
26:45I may have lost a boss, but heaven has gained a princess.
26:50Both characters would be dearly missed in Quahog.

27:08Paul Hennessy, Eight Simple Rules.
27:11Originally titled Eight Simple Rules, for dating my teenage daughter,
27:14the sitcom followed the trials and tribulations of an overbearing father as his teen daughters began to date.
27:20You will continue to date her and no one but her until she is finished with you.
27:23Because if you make her cry, I will make you cry.
27:26Legendary sitcom actor John Ritter was praised for his take as family patriarch Paul.
27:31Tragically, he passed away of an aortic dissection while filming the second season.
27:35The show took a break in production to reshape the series.
27:38He was supposed to be back in ten minutes.
27:40He was running a stupider and he was supposed to be back and he was taking us to school.
27:44After it returned, the show spent an hour-long episode to serve as a tribute to Paul.
27:49Subsequent episodes also showed the impact of his death on his family.
27:52I always hated it when he did that.
27:54I just want my dad back.
27:56Bridget!
27:57While the show was never quite the same after Paul's absence,
28:00Ritter and his final leading role weren't forgotten.
