00:00Okay, we got 20 minutes, and in that time, I'm going to show you how to master WordPress,
00:03something people normally take weeks or months struggling with. I'll show you how to install
00:07the correct version of WordPress, how to design your website with a drag and drop builder and
00:10make it look really professional. I'll also explain what WordPress themes do and why WordPress
00:15plugins actually matter. I mean, they can literally turn your website into anything,
00:19a membership website, an e-commerce store, or a directory online websites.
00:23So let's get started. But before we jump into this, I first need to explain the difference
00:27between WordPress.com and WordPress. This confuses everybody. And I'm not going to lie. It doesn't
00:32make a lot of sense. So I'll do my best to explain it. One of the first beginner's mistake is not
00:36understanding the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress. At first glance, it looked the same.
00:41They share the same name, the same branding, and even the same logo. But these are completely
00:45different building platforms. You've probably heard WordPress is free, but when you go to
00:48WordPress.com, well, they want money right away. WordPress.com is a hosted service run by a company
00:54called Automatic. WordPress.com is honestly a cluttered mess. The dashboard is filled with
00:58random menus. Half the settings are locked behind a paywall. And every time you try to do something
01:03simple, they're constantly trying to upsell you. So when we say WordPress, we're not really referring
01:07to WordPress.com. And the reviews kind of speak for themselves on Trustpilot. WordPress.com is just
01:12a really weird platform. Now compare that to WordPress, the ones you actually watch on YouTube.
01:17So this is WordPress. This is where the dashboard is clean. You have full control over your websites,
01:21and you can install whatever you want without someone trying to nickel and dime you every step
01:25of the way. All the WordPress plugins and themes are free with WordPress without any limitation.
01:30To keep it simple, if you want a professional looking website, use this version of WordPress.
01:34It's also referred to most people by WordPress.org. So the next question is how do we install WordPress?
01:39How do we use this version of WordPress that everyone's using on YouTube? Well, let me show you.
01:44WordPress recommends you install their CMS3 hosting company. In fact, if you go to WordPress.org,
01:48they actually recommend doing it by this method. Almost all web hosting companies offer WordPress
01:53for their customers. So you shouldn't have any issues installing it with your hosting provider.
01:56Today, most hosting companies give you a one-click install for WordPress. They make it really simple
02:01to install WordPress. The cheapest hosting provider I recommend is definitely Hostinger hands down.
02:06They make it literally idiot-proof to install WordPress. You first start by picking a hosting plan.
02:11I recommend the business plan with Hostinger. It'll be about 50 bucks a year.
02:14You then check out and purchase the plan. Next, it'll then prompt you to install WordPress
02:18automatically. It then brings you back to your WordPress dashboard and now you've got WordPress
02:23installed and you're all ready to go. The best part is you can make up to 50 websites on your plan
02:27and even 100 on the cloud startup. I'll leave a link to Hostinger in the video description and
02:32a coupon code. If you use our coupon code DURAL10, you'll save an additional 10% off any of the hosting
02:37plans that Hostinger offers. So that's the correct way to install WordPress. I get subscribers commenting
02:42all the time in my comment section saying, hey, Dural, my WordPress doesn't look like yours. What's going on?
02:47This video sucks, right? And I'm like, well, you skipped the part about hosting and I totally get it, right?
02:52They don't want to buy something right away. I totally understand where they're coming from, but this is the
02:56actual right way to install WordPress when building a website. So now that we talked about how to install WordPress,
03:01let's talk more about the important aspects like what is a WordPress theme? When you first install WordPress
03:05through a hosting company, you'll start with a clean dashboard that might feel a little empty at first.
03:09The very first step you should do after installing WordPress is to install a WordPress theme.
03:14Every website requires a WordPress theme. A WordPress theme acts as the outer shell of your
03:18websites, controlling the overall design, like the layouts, the structure, things like headers and
03:23footers, fonts, and templates. But to be honest, in today's WordPress ecosystem in 2025, WordPress themes
03:29have become more like template factories. I recommend the Solace WordPress theme. It offers the most
03:34templates in the WordPress industry and they look amazing. Instead of just one flat looking design,
03:39most modern themes come bundled with hundreds of pre-built templates for different industries.
03:43But here's the real reality. WordPress themes are slowly being phased out. With the rise of full
03:47site editing and intuitive page builders like Elementor, the need for themes is shrinking.
03:52I remember back in 2020, themes used to be the backbone of customization, but today they're more of a
03:57starting point, a container for your templates. In 2025, the future of WordPress themes are slowly
04:02moving away and people are more focused on intuitive page builders like Elementor.
04:06So after you got WordPress set up, let's install a theme. The first thing you'll do is click on
04:10themes. Then in the box, you'll search for Solace. Once you find Solace, you'll then click on install.
04:16Then you'll click on activate. Once you install the Solace theme, it then brings you to the Solace
04:20dashboard. Here you'll click on next and install a few templates. Now the Solace theme comes with a
04:24huge variety of templates. They have a little bit more than a hundred to go from, so they have a lot of
04:28options. I'll find a template called Pixel Flow. Next, I'll click on Pixel Flow. And here's the
04:34templates. Here you can choose a different font and a color scheme for your websites.
04:38Let's install the templates. So let's click these checkboxes and then click on import the websites.
04:44Next, I'll click on import. And after waiting about two minutes, boom, we now have a beautiful WordPress
04:49website you can fully edit and customize. Now let's actually talk about how to design the websites.
04:54Now remember, the WordPress theme acts more of an outer shell for your website and the page builder
04:59is what creates the content. Elementor, on the other hand, has become the leading and most popular
05:04page builder for WordPress. It offers a free version that already has a strong set of features.
05:08And the pro version unlocks more advanced options like theme building, WooCommerce product
05:12customization, and a little bit more. And for the average person building a website, the free
05:17version will do just fine. About every theme in the WordPress ecosystem offers templates based on
05:22the Elementor page builder, which means you'll have to use this builder in order to use any of those
05:26templates. Elementor has 15 plus million active installs, a huge community, and tons of third-party
05:31add-ons. Now there is one thing I want to address that might confuse first-time users is some WordPress
05:36themes offer their own native page builder. WordPress themes like the Avada theme, Flatsam,
05:42the B theme, and Divi offer their own native page builder when you install their WordPress theme.
05:47This means these WordPress theme page builders come included with the WordPress theme, and you'll
05:51have to use this builder in order to use those specific themes. So when looking for a WordPress theme
05:55for WordPress, just make sure you look at what page builder it uses because that's going to be the
05:59most essential and important part of how you design your website. I've had so many comments where
06:04people went to ThemeForest, and they bought a beautiful template they found on ThemeForest, and then they
06:08bought the theme, they installed it on their website, and then they're like, wait a minute, I don't like
06:11this builder. So now they're kind of stuck with a builder they don't like, but they saw a beautiful
06:15template. So that's why you always got to look at which page builder the theme uses. So next up, let's talk
06:20about how to actually design the website using the drag-and-drop page builder. So we installed our demo.
06:25Let's talk about the experience of designing the websites. With Elementor, you can drag and drop
06:29elements directly onto your page. You want to add text? Just drag in a heading block, then type in
06:34your content, and you'll see it update instantly on your websites. Need a button, an image, or a video?
06:39Just simply drag them in. Place it where you want. You can adjust the size, color, and spacing however
06:45you would like. It's all visual, so there's no coding. What you see while editing is exactly what your
06:49visitors will see when your page goes live. All right, and here is our beautiful WordPress website. So here we
06:55can actually design the website. But before we do that, let's hop on on the back end and I'll show
06:58you the WordPress dashboard. So to access your WordPress dashboard, here at the top, I'll click
07:03on dashboard. Now this is the WordPress dashboard. So anytime you log into WordPress, you'll be brought
07:08to this specific page. Now, how do you log into WordPress? Well, let me show you. So here at the
07:13top, I'll click on log out. Okay, and here's my website. So now I'm logged out. Now you see at the top,
07:19I cannot log in. So in order to log into my websites, I'll type in dash wp-admin, press enter,
07:25and then here I'll be brought to a login screen, and then I'll enter my WordPress credentials.
07:30Once you enter in your credentials, you'll click on login. And bam, back to square one. Now this is
07:35the dashboard right here, but you can always move these things around. These are essentially widgets,
07:40and these are actually created when you install specific plugins. On the screen options here,
07:45you can actually decide if you want like a welcome message. So you can go ahead and take out specific
07:50screen elements if you want to disable them or enable them on the screen options. Now let's start
07:55here from the bottom, and we'll work our way up to the top. Now the first option is the Solace option.
08:00This essentially will allow you to re-import demos on your websites. We also will be introducing a site
08:06builder. This essentially will allow you to customize every part of your website, like the header,
08:10footer, shop page, and all parts of your websites. Now if you want to re-import a demo,
08:15all you got to do is click on start now under starter templates, and then click on start now.
08:20And this will take you right back to the area where you can re-import a demo on your WordPress websites.
08:25But let's go ahead and hop back to the WordPress dashboard by clicking on back.
08:30The next option right here is settings. So let's click on general.
08:34Now here you can actually give your website a title. So here I put a dude, you're getting Adele.
08:39If you are over the age of 30, you get the joke. If you're not, you won't have any idea what I'm
08:43talking about. The site icon, this is the actual icon that appears at the top of your browser when
08:49you log in. So right here, you can go ahead and choose a site icon. Below that, we have the default
08:55role. So this is actually, you don't have to worry about this. This is essentially if you have a
08:59membership websites. Here you can adjust the site language on your websites. Here you can adjust
09:04the date format and also the time formats. Once you make those changes, you'll just click on save
09:09changes and all the changes you made will be saved in your WordPress dashboard. Now one that's very
09:14important right here is actually permalinks. So let's click on permalinks here. Now for every WordPress
09:19website you create, the permalink structure should always be under post name. This essentially will
09:24show your website, like your website dash about us, right? Or dash contact us, not all these like
09:30random numbers and crap that they just throw in there. So a post is optimal for SEO. So always make sure
09:35when you create websites, the post is always selected. So here I'll scroll to the bottom and
09:40click on save changes. Another important option is discussion. Now with WordPress, you're going to
09:45get a lot of spam and I personally disable comments on my website. So over here, what we're going to do
09:50is we're going to disable anyone posts the comments because I just do not want comments on your website.
09:55You're going to get comments for like Viagra pills and all this crazy stuff. So I personally think
10:00in order to prevent spam to always disable comments on your websites. So here I'll scroll to
10:05the bottom and click on save changes. Okay. Now the next important option is users. So right here
10:11we have users. Let's click on all users. Now when you start WordPress, it's going to give you a
10:16specific admin user that you can use to log in and log out of your websites. Now you can always create
10:21new administrators here and you can create specific roles. For example, let's say you want to let
10:26someone design your website for you. You can create a user right here and give them admin privileges.
10:31And here is a password. Now WordPress will go ahead and send them an email with their credentials,
10:36but right here under role, you just want to select administrator. This will essentially give them
10:41complete control over the website. So if you are giving this to someone like a web designer,
10:46they'll probably want your administrative role. And then we can create a password for them. So I'll
10:50just put like paddywhack, you know, one, two, three. And once I do that, I'll click on add user.
10:56Now this user can go ahead now and log in and log out of your website and work on it from any location.
11:01So that's how you can create users. Next, let me show you all how to modify your account and update
11:05your details as your admin. So right here, I'll click on edits. So the first thing I can do is I
11:11can update the backend color of my WordPress website. So they have a few to choose from.
11:15I think the one that I use in most of my videos is midnight, just because I think this is easier on
11:20the eye, right? When teaching a tutorial below that we have the first and last name. So you can enter
11:26in all your information right here. If you ever want to update your email, you're going to do it right
11:30here by just putting in your specific email. Now here we have the password. If you ever want to
11:36change your password here, I'll click on set new password, and then you can update your password
11:40here. And this will be your new admin login password. This is important because if you ever
11:45like want to change your password or something, you can do everything from right here. Once you
11:49update all your information, you'll then click on update profile. Let's go ahead and take a look at
11:53visit site here at the top. And now I'll design the website. Now in order to design the website,
11:58here at the top, you'll see edit with Elementor. This will allow you to turn on the page builder
12:02and start designing your specific page. So let me give you all a five minute crash course
12:06and show you how to use the Elementor page builder. Now instead of actually editing this
12:10page, we're going to create a brand new page and show you how to do this from scratch.
12:13So here at the top, I'll go to plus new and page. Notice how you can create pages on the front
12:19end and also the back end. So we're right back to where we started from here. I'll just delete
12:23this little notice. So this is going to be practice. All right, we're going to practice here.
12:27I'll click on publish and publish. Once the page is published, I'll then click on edit with
12:32Elementor and this will turn on the page builder. Okay. So this is the actual page. Now real quick,
12:37we have to change some settings. So I don't really want this banner right here. And to do that,
12:41we're going to make it Elementor full width. Here, I'll click on page settings. And for the page
12:46layout, I just want to select Elementor full width. Essentially what I'm saying here is I want to
12:51remove everything from the actual page and only have Elementor. And once we do that, you'll now see that
12:56we have this section right here where we can build a website without any interference. So let's break
13:00down how to use Elementor. Now on the left side, you'll see that we have rows and columns. We also
13:05have elements and you can simply drag and drop these elements onto the page. They have free elements
13:10right here. As you can tell the basic ones, they also have pro, but I don't want to use that. So
13:15I'll collapse that. And then we have general general are also free elements that you can drag and drop onto
13:20the page as well. And then they have some other ones that we're not going to go through because many
13:24people don't even use them. So let's get started. Let's create a two column row right here. I'll click on
13:29the plus. I'll select flex box. This is essentially just like a structure. Now I'm going to select a two
13:35column row. Now here, I'll click on the plus, which is add elements. And now we're just going to drag
13:40elements onto the page. For example, I'll take this heading text. We'll drop it right here. Okay. Now for every
13:47single element, you're going to have three different tabs. You have the content tab. This controls the actual
13:52content of the actual elements. Then you have the style tab. This controls things like the font and
13:57the color of the elements. And then we have advanced. This controls things like motion effects as
14:03animation, and also adds in space for your elements. But I don't really want to add space. So let's go
14:09ahead and go back to content. Now, Elementor also has these really annoying notices. I hate how they do
14:14this. So I'm going to go ahead and close that. But before I customize this, let's just add in more
14:18elements here under the add elements. So next, let's throw in a text editor right here. Okay.
14:25And lastly, let's throw in like a button. So I'll take a button and I'll just drag and drop it right
14:30there. Now on the right side, I kind of want to add an image, right? So I want to have this text and
14:34then an image on the right side, like most websites say. So I'll go ahead and just drag in an image.
14:40Okay. And I'll change this to something more professional, more corporates. We got this guy right
14:45here working hard. Okay. Pretty good. Now I'll go ahead and update this content here. So I'll put
14:50in like, learn how to make money online. And then below that, you can obviously add in some content
14:58to encourage people to buy something, right? Or just whatever. But let's say for example, we got
15:03this, but you want to center this now. Well, let's go ahead and click on this right here. And this is
15:08where the Flexbox comes into play. Now I have a whole nother video on Flexbox, but this is just a quick
15:12crash course. If I want to put this in the center, all I got to do is click on center right here and
15:18then we can center it. We can also go ahead and space this out, right? So if you want to space it
15:23out like that, we can go ahead and go that route. You can also put this in the start center and or
15:29stretch it out. But I think something like start works great. And I think that's obviously way too
15:35much space. So we're just going to put it just like that. And just like that, you have a really
15:39quick looking landing page that we made in just a few seconds. Now here under these six dots,
15:44we can also go to style and maybe add in a background here. So for example, under background
15:49type, we have classic. You can put like a classic color, right? If you want to go that route, we got
15:53a basic color. Or if you click on the image, you can throw in an image as well. I think I do actually
16:00have an image that goes well with this. I think this one right here, the grid scaled, go ahead and click
16:04that one. And then what I'm going to do here is get rid of the color, but I do like that gray.
16:09Actually. I think that looks pretty cool. I don't know. What do you, what do you guys like? Let me,
16:12let me know in the comments, right? But I'll just go ahead and leave it like that. And voila,
16:16we now have a really cool looking landing page that we made in just a few seconds. So that is a
16:20quick crash course on how to use the Elementor page builder. Now I have a full another video dedicated
16:25to this builder. That's about an hour and a half long. So if you want to learn more about
16:28Elementor and all his features, I will leave that tutorial in the video description for you to check out
16:32later. But I think most of you watching this can just get a general idea just by messing around
16:37with it for like 30 minutes. Now let's talk about one of the more important aspects and let's talk
16:41about WordPress plugins. Now WordPress plugins are essentially the life of WordPress. Without
16:46WordPress plugins, WordPress would not be where it's at today. So let's talk about what a WordPress
16:50plugin is and what does it do for your website? WordPress is the number one CMS in the world,
16:54mainly due to the plugin markets. There are more than 50,000 free plugins available to use for your
16:59websites. Without plugins, your WordPress website is just a blank website with no real functionality.
17:04Plugins are what turn your website into something powerful. You want an e-commerce website? You can
17:08install the WooCommerce plugin for that. Want to boost your SEO? Try the Rank Math plugin. Want to have
17:13a blazing fast website? I use this Seraphonite accelerator plugin. It can literally optimize your
17:18entire website with one simple click. And the best part is they're all completely free. But just remember
17:24this, too many plugins, especially poorly coded ones, can slow down your website or create conflicts.
17:29So just keep that in mind. So we all love WordPress plugins and WordPress themes, but now we've got to
17:34talk about updates. And most beginners tend to overlook updates, but let's talk about it. WordPress itself
17:40gets updated regularly. Your themes and plugins will also get updated too. These updates usually include
17:46security patches, performance improvements, and new features. The upside of updates is obvious. Your site
17:51stays secure, compatible, and modern. The downside with updates? Well, updates can sometimes break
17:57things sometimes. So this is why you need a safe update procedure. Always backup your website first.
18:03If you're using Hostinger, they have automatic daily backups, so you can always reach out to them and
18:07have them install a backup if anything goes wrong. And for the rest of you suckers, I mean people,
18:12install a security plugin like Updraft. Now updates are a blessing and also a curse. While most updates
18:18provide like security fixes and new features for your plugins or themes. At the same time,
18:23it can conflict with other plugins and cause parts of your website to break. This doesn't happen all
18:28the time to be honest, but it can happen. So just be on alert. Okay, so let's recap. In order to master
18:34WordPress, you need to remember these core aspects of WordPress. Understand the difference between
18:38WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Install WordPress on your web hosting with a one-click installer.
18:44Choose a theme as your outer shell, but don't rely on it for your contents. Use plugins to bring
18:48life to your websites. But just remember, don't add too many. Build your pages with Elementor being
18:53my top choice. Know that plugins like WooCommerce can convert your website into an e-commerce website.
18:59And finally, update regularly to keep your site secure. Once you grasp these fundamentals,
19:03you can build anything you want with your WordPress websites. Now, for those of you who want to expand
19:07your knowledge about WordPress, I do have a video right here that'll teach you how to learn Elementor in
19:12detail. This video is about one hour and I'll walk you through the fundamentals of WordPress and
19:16Elementor. So after watching this, you'll be good to go. Now, you don't have to watch those videos if
19:20you don't want to. You can kind of mess around with WordPress, mess around with the page builders,
19:23create some pages. Just experiment your website, explore it, and see where it takes you. I've
19:27known that many times. It's a lot of fun. So yeah, knock yourself out. And lastly, here's one quick tip.
19:33Make sure to install an SEO plugin. It basically tells Google your website is alive. So make sure to
19:37watch my Rank Math tutorial in the video description. Also, if you tried WordPress, you like it, but it's just not for
19:42you. No problem because we offer more than 500 available templates on my website, DarrellWilson.com.
19:47This here is an example of a beautiful templates and another one and another one. If you go to
19:53DarrellWilson.com and click over here under Elementor templates, we offer more than 520 available
19:58templates for the Elementor page builder. And guess what guys, they look really good. So if you do want
20:03to check this out, I will leave our website in the video description for you to check out later. Also,
20:08if you know about WordPress, but you're just too damn lazy to make your own website, no problem because my
