00:06Rains lashed Hyderabad overnight, gates of Himayat Sagar Dam have been opened.
00:11Moosey River is now overflowing, houses are now flooded.
00:15Chief Minister Revant Reddy has taken stock of the situation.
00:18He has instructed officials to evacuate people in low-lying areas.
00:23Those are the images that you are seeing on your screens coming in from the city of Hyderabad.
00:26The Chief Minister of the State of Hyderabad has now given out instructions to the officials
00:32asking them to evacuate people who stay in low-lying areas.
00:35My colleague Abdul Bashir is now joining me on the story.
00:38Abdul, horrific visuals now coming from the city of Hyderabad.
00:41We understand many low-lying areas have been flooded.
00:44Official instructions have been given.
00:46The Chief Minister is taking stock of the situation.
00:50Well, yes, Aishwarya.
00:52It's been, you know, heavy rains in the parts of Telangana
00:56after which up-to-catchment areas like in the Himayat Sagar and Usman Sagar Dam is full
01:01and 15 gates of Usman Sagar have been lifted at 9 feet height in the morning
01:07and 11 gates of Himayat Sagar have been lifted at 6 feet
01:11following which you can see right behind me is the Ruhsi River flowing aggressively.
01:15Now here, all the houses at the banks of this Hurti River are inundated in water.
01:21Several people living in this low-lying area have been shifted to several places.
01:26However, some of them are still standing at the terraces of their houses.
01:30As you can see here in the visual.
01:32Now this is the furious flow of Hurti here.
01:35You can see here a bridge, a flyover, a bridge which crosses this particular area
01:39is completely inundated in water.
01:41Water at whole one floor feet as you can see.
01:45Several houses, only the, you know, the top area of the house is just visible.
01:50All the household items have been washed away.
01:52People have been shifted.
01:54And now what we see is that authorities are continuously working
01:57to control the situation where traffic pull is here right now.
02:01On the other hand, it's trying to control the traffic.
02:03The DRF, VHMC and the police is working on moving the people
02:07from these low-lying areas to safer places.
02:11The whole metro station here at the MGBS is, you know,
02:15a part of it is inundated in water.
02:17MGBS buck sands has been flooded with water.
02:20And all these areas that I'm talking about are on the banks of River Moosey.
02:24Now, here's the 54-kilometer stretch of Moosey that's close to the city of Hyderabad.
02:29All the banks in these areas, the low-lying areas are inundated and flooded
02:33is what we are seeing.
02:34Several houses are in water.
02:36And now authorities are continuously working and monitoring on the situation.
02:40The Chief Minister of Telangana, Rehman Siddhidi,
02:42has asked all the officials to give high alerts, coordinate well,
02:45and make sure that there is no loss of life and property
02:49or minimum damage that is being caused,
02:51is what the Chief Minister has instructed.
02:54All the departments here, the GSMC, the Hydra,
02:56and the police officials, power department,
02:59everybody are constantly working together
03:01to control the situation,
03:03as we can see in these visuals here.
03:06Over to you, Aishwarya.
03:09Right, Abdul.
03:10You know, we can't see in those visuals there,
03:12the situation rather precarious.
03:14The authorities also, Abdul, from what we understand,
03:16they are on high alert.
03:17Have all the people been evacuated,
03:19those who stay in the low-lying areas?
03:22Well, yes, what we are learning is that
03:24late night yesterday,
03:25after the information that was received
03:28from the irrigation department of the gates being opened,
03:32the authorities have swung in action
03:33and several people living in the low-lying areas
03:36have been shifted.
03:37Here you can see tens of houses
03:39and all in the whole 54-kilometer stretch,
03:42there are hundreds of houses that have come up
03:45in the low-lying area.
03:46Now, here you can see that a whole,
03:48you know, a road that crosses this particular houthi,
03:52the plywood is inundated in water,
03:53you don't see any of it,
03:55only the water flowing at a very high feet here.
03:59Ten feet is what is being estimated
04:01that these houses,
04:02only the rooftops can be visible, right?
04:04As you can see in the visuals,
04:06only the rooftops of these houses that are there
04:08are only visible.
04:09Several of the houses are still underwater.
04:13People who are stranded in the two-story
04:17or one-story buildings
04:18and just on the terraces,
04:20waiting for help or rescue operation,
04:23where, as you can see in the visuals here,
04:25people are stranded on the terrace of their house
04:28where they are waiting for people
04:30to come and rescue them.
04:31But however, a major part,
04:32a major chunk of people living in these low-lying areas
04:35have been shifted to community centers
04:38or rehabilitation centers
04:40where basic amenities are being provided.
04:42Well, as you can see,
04:43the traffic on the other end,
04:45the flyover where I'm standing,
04:47this is the Chadhargat area,
04:48where the traffic is being, you know,
04:50controlled by the traffic officials here.
04:52As several roads have been closed
04:54which cross over River Moshi.
04:56And what we see is that
04:58authorities are completely on high alert.
05:00The weather here seems to, you know,
05:02be a little aggressive in some time from now.
05:05And what we're learning is that
05:06the force that the IMD has issued
05:08and high alerts are for two days.
05:13Right, Abdul, my colleague,
05:14they're giving us all the details
05:15and also showing us
05:16how houses have been submerged.
05:18The Chief Minister of the State of Telangana,
05:20Revant Friendly,
05:21has given instructions.
05:22All the low-lying areas,
05:23those who stay there,
05:24they need to be evacuated.
