00:00The backstage siblings, I want to call on stage, Prachi and Raghav, both founders of the backstage siblings, they shy off big stages, but look at small, warm gatherings, smaller places, and happen to be the first jamming band in India.
00:19I really don't know what jamming is, and a lot of us, how many of you know what's a jamming band? Put your hands up.
00:24You know what jamming is. Gaurav is going to jam with you. Whatever. So, we are going to get Gaurav out and he's going to jam with you.
00:32And Gaurav is the only one. So, Gaurav, you're coming, not post, now you'll raise your hands, you're going to come up.
00:38Alright. Okay. But give it all for the backstage siblings, ladies and gentlemen on the stage.
00:44Before we get into a bit of questioning, I'm going to quickly ask them what jamming is all about.
00:51They're going to give us an idea of what really they do.
00:54They set up their instruments, and the minute that they are done,
01:03Now, both Prachi and Raghav, the brother-sister duo,
01:07together make up the backstage siblings.
01:11You guys have mics with you? Great.
01:13Alright. So, what they're going to do is give us a little glimpse into what is jamming,
01:18what makes them India's first jamming band.
01:21Go ahead, Raghav.
01:25Hello, check. Perfect.
01:28Hello, check. Hello, check.
01:34Raghav is also a guitarist, but we'll talk about that later.
01:37Okay. I think we are good to go.
01:51Can we have the guitar on, please?
01:55Okay. Before I start, I'll answer your question what jamming means.
01:58Tell us.
01:59Jamming is nothing but when everyone comes together and sings.
02:03So, it means that you all become the percussion.
02:07You all become the music.
02:09You all become the guitar, and the voices come from the room.
02:11And if we say that, if we all sing, then the whole room vibrates.
02:15So, it seems that today is to get to yourself, to get to yourself.
02:20Today is to sing something to sing.
02:23Can you all clap to the beat?
02:25Everyone, it will be very fun.
02:26Everyone, everyone. Come on.
05:46Look at you.
05:47You're sitting there.
05:48There's something hanging around at home and the family on a Sunday evening. Was that the
06:07connect with yourself. That's how you create
06:10magic. How did it all
06:12start? From the living room
06:14is where you started it.
06:16Clearly under your father's tutelage.
06:19With two
06:20kids sitting in your
06:22living room. What made you decide
06:24to take it to an audience like this
06:26and across the country?
06:27It started, we've been
06:30singing all our lives. We've been singing since
06:32the age of 10. Papa
06:34used to go for satsangs.
06:35We used to go together. The song is not coming.
06:37We used to go together.
06:39And the peace we used to
06:41feel, you know, when everybody is sitting
06:43singing the vibrations, the
06:44energy. Satsang. Yeah.
06:47So the energy is that
06:48is being radiated in that hall
06:51for that 30-40 minutes duration.
06:53And we were like, why not
06:55make everybody experience this?
06:57Why don't we start something
06:59of ourselves? And to
07:01answer your question, Backstage Siblings, this
07:03is a nine month old project.
07:05We remember our first
07:06jamming session. It was 50 people.
07:09I called up 10 of my friends.
07:11They forced me to
07:12give stories.
07:14So that people come to know about this.
07:16And last week on Sunday, we sold
07:181500 tickets in Bombay.
07:20So
07:20the journey has been magical.
07:24It's been great. We've received so much love
07:26from you all. So yeah, that's
07:28Backstage Siblings.
07:29You talk about the Satsang and the
07:31vibrations. I've heard a terminology
07:33it's that, you know, that
07:34in your jamming sessions, which is
07:36bhajan clubbing.
07:38What in the world is bhajan jamming or
07:40bhajan clubbing?
07:41Bhajan jamming or clubbing or what?
07:43What is that? So you take bhajans and
07:44you jam with them.
07:45Absolutely.
07:46So it's like
07:46Navratri Matarani on Express.
07:52Give us a glimpse of that.
07:53We will definitely give you a glimpse.
07:55But to answer it, bhajan what is it?
07:57Songs which brings you peace.
07:59It is not labeled as bhajan.
08:01Any song can be a bhajan.
08:02Whatever brings you peace.
08:04Whatever makes you happy within.
08:06So what we did was
08:07we used to sing Ram bhajans, Krishna bhajans.
08:10We used to merge it with Bollywood songs.
08:11But the magic happens when
08:13everybody sings.
08:15Sab saad gaate te.
08:16And that's what we labeled as
08:17bhajan jamming.
08:19So yes, do you...
08:21You do that as well.
08:23So it all depends.
08:24Today, the...
08:25Both the siblings are
08:27either playing at a club
08:29in Mumbai
08:31or a little social gathering in Mumbai
08:33and in the evenings they are at a Jagrata as well.
08:36That's why we made one place for everything.
08:38Which is...
08:39Backstage siblings jamming session.
08:40Backstage siblings jamming session.
08:43But you guys don't do big mega stage shows.
08:45You do smaller...
08:46You do that as well.
08:47Like I said,
08:48the concept is evolving.
08:49We were at Phoenix Kudla last week on Sunday.
08:52So 1600 people sat on the floor.
08:54We stopped liquor.
08:55We stopped food.
08:57Because the only thing which takes importance
