00:00Mike, congratulations on reaching the final. How to beat India is now the question.
00:08We have lost seven internationals, four T20 and three ODIs. So is there a mental block or a
00:15pressure which Pakistan team take against India? Certainly not. I think the way we played against
00:22India in the last match was a huge step up from the first game. The first game we were a bit passive
00:26and we allowed India to control the game. The last match we had that game by the scruff of the neck
00:35for long periods of it. And then it took an exceptional innings from Abhishek Sharma to
00:40sort of take the game away from us. Outside of that we were pretty good. It was pretty much the
00:45power play with the ball. So we have to be good enough to be able to put India under pressure
00:51for long enough. And we were able to do it for maybe 10 overs with the bat and we were able to
00:56do it post power play last game. We have to do it for longer because there's a reason why
01:03you know they're right to the top side in the world. You have to put them under pressure.
01:07So that'll be our challenge. Mike, in the last 41 years,
01:13Pakistan-India playing first time in the final of the Asia Cup. What is your message to the boys on
01:21the eve of the final of the Asia Cup? We've deserved this opportunity. So now it's up to us to make the
01:29most of it. And I think, you know, all the games that have happened up to this point now have been
01:34around trying to get yourself in a position to win the trophy. And, you know, that's what we've been
01:43talking about the whole time. You know, we know that we played on the 14th, we played on the 21st,
01:47but really the only match that really counts is the one at the end. And that's certainly the,
01:55that'll be our focus is trying to play our best game when it counts. Mike, how are you dealing with
02:01whatever is going on off the field and on the field also? Because there's, there's a lot of
02:06things going on as far as gestures are concerned, celebrations are concerned. And then there's a
02:11hearing going on, Indian players, then Pakistani players tomorrow. How do you coping up with this? And
02:16what's your message to the team in between this? Look, my message is we just focus on the cricket.
02:23And that's certainly what we'll be doing. Those things, you know, you probably know more about
02:28those than me. I deal with the cricket side. And in terms of, in terms of gestures, look, there's
02:36always a bit of passion, isn't there? In terms of when you're in high pressure games, but you know,
02:41we will be having our focus will be very much on playing a good game and focusing on the cricket.
02:46And that's, that's part of my job. Can you give us a sense of the mood in the
02:50Pakistan camp ahead of the final?
02:52Oh, look, we've, you know, we've been talking for a while about, you know, focusing on, on
03:00now and not getting too far ahead of ourself. But I think the boys have always, you know,
03:04we've always talked about wanting to be in this match at the end of the tournament,
03:07and we've got to play some good cricket to get there. And we've certainly done that,
03:11you know, we've beaten some teams we haven't beaten for a long time.
03:15So, and, and we obviously won the Troy series before here. So there's a bit of confidence in the group.
03:19Uh, and I think when you win games like that, when you're, everyone writes you off,
03:23um, you know, 10 overs into the match, that builds a bit of confidence in the group as well.
03:28First of all, congratulations to whole entire team, uh, to reaching in the final. My question
03:33in two part on one segment, I want to know about the batting, we are winning, but the win is not
03:37commanding and authoritative somehow. Uh, our main batter are not reading the hand from the spinner
03:42particularly. We saw day before yesterday against Sri Lanka and today as well. And the second part is that
03:48the big final will be playing against India. Is there any special way to play against them?
03:53Because on the conventional cricket, if we play against them, we are not able to beat them. Thank
03:57you. Uh, look, I've heard, I've heard, uh, a number of people say, uh, we're not picking the ball from
04:05the hand. Um, and I've answered that question before. I mean, that's, you know, when Indu Hasaranga,
04:12um, for example, we, we know that he's a googly bowler, um, and it really has nothing to do with
04:18picking the ball from the hand. It's actually being able to play it off the pitch or being
04:21able to get your body into a good position. Uh, and we've been a little bit tentative and,
04:26um, you know, these pitches are also pretty challenging as every side has found out after
04:31the, the power play. Uh, it's, it's really difficult. So, you know, I, I think, you know,
04:37we talk about not a commanding position. I mean, let's be honest, we haven't been to Sri Lanka since
04:412017. Um, you know, we haven't made the Asia Cup final for a long time. You know, if we're searching
04:48for perfection, uh, from a batting point of view on these surfaces, you're just not going to get it.
04:54So we have to be better with the bat. I don't think there's any doubt about that. Um, and we need
04:59more contributions from the top order. You know, they know that. Um, so, and I can assure you that
05:05they're working pretty hard at it, but it's, it's nothing to do with picking the ball out of the
05:08hand. It's actually, it's around decision making. Um, and that's certainly something that, uh, it,
05:14it's tough. You know, whenever we try to play an aggressive shot today, we got out. Um, and often
05:20we did it before we got used to the pace of the pitch. And those are things that, uh, you know,
05:25as these pitches start to tire, you know, you've got to be a little bit more disciplined in those areas.
