00:00Muslims become a superpower. After the time of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him,
00:05during the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, Islam spread rapidly. The Muslims had become
00:11the world's leading superpower, defeating mighty empires on land. Their armies expanded east into
00:17Persia and west into North Africa, achieving victory after victory. But there remained one
00:23weakness, the sea. The mighty Roman Empire had ruled the Mediterranean Sea for centuries.
00:30With more than 1,000 powerful warships, the Byzantines controlled the waves and dominated
00:35sea trade and naval battles. The Muslims, however, came from the desert. They had little experience
00:41with ships, sailing or naval warfare. Despite being unmatched on land, the sea was an arena
00:47where they had yet to prove themselves. This was the stage for the fulfilment of the Prophet
00:52ﷺ's vision, where Muslims would one day sail across the seas in the path of Allah,
00:59like kings upon their thrones.
