00:00That's what makes the Ryder Cup so special, is that it does sort of transcend golf a little bit.
00:09I remember watching events as a kid and my dad saying he's a Ryder Cupper or he's a major champion.
00:15And that never goes away. That's with you forever.
00:21I feel like I've been called for a bigger cause here, to help our guys get ready to play and play at the highest level.
00:30He knows how fiery and passionate he can be, and he's surrounded himself with some calmer individuals at times.
00:40Hegan's just been fantastic so far. I know I speak for the rest of our team saying that he's doing everything he possibly can to put us in a position to succeed.
00:49I think we have 12 guys that are all equal. I don't think one player is more important than another, and I think that is something that is through our team room.
01:07Some of the best moments of my career have been in Ryder Cups as a player, as a vice-captain, and now as captain.
01:14I think Luke has really emerged as a leader over the last couple of years, and I think he's really invested in himself as a leader.
01:27And I think he's grown tremendously as a human, right?
01:31I have a great team, a team that I'm very confident in, a team that has a lot of form, and a team that's been together quite a lot over the last few years.
01:49I've always been made so aware of the legacy that is Team Europe. You know, we're sort of carrying that right now.
01:58There's a real family feel, a real togetherness, and yeah, we're on one mission.
02:08I've been out here. I've played this course 50 to 100 times. This is probably the best condition I've ever seen it.
02:15Bethpage is a tough course, but it's certainly not set up like a U.S. Open, so I think you're going to have to expect to go out there and make some birdies.
02:24It's beautiful. You know, there's an aura to step in onto this property, and you know, you feel the whole, you know, the core of the state when you get here.
02:34We are here, and we are playing for history, and we're playing for the players that came before us, and the, you know, the people that basically laid the foundations for what the European Ryder Cup team are.
02:55When you look back on your career, these are the weeks so far that I remember the most. I have some of my best memories of my whole life playing these tournaments.
