00:00Fat-Checking Donald Trump's UN Speech
00:02US President Donald Trump made a string of misleading and false claims
00:10during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on 23 September
00:15It's time to end the failed experiment of open borders.
00:18You have to end it now.
00:19Let's see, I can tell you.
00:21I'm really good at this stuff.
00:23Your countries are going to hell.
00:24The share of non-EU citizens in all 27 member states totaled 6.4% of the overall EU population
00:32in 2024, while 9.9% of the population was born outside the bloc.
00:38In comparison, 15.4% of the total US population in June 2025 were immigrants.
00:45When it comes to illegal migration in the EU, Frontex, the bloc's border agency,
00:49reported 239,000 irregular border crossings in 2024,
00:54which is 25% less than the year before.
00:57Trump also slammed European efforts to combat climate change.
01:01Europe loses more than 175,000 people to heat deaths each year
01:06because the costs are so expensive you can't turn on an air conditioner.
01:10What is that all about?
01:11That's not Europe.
01:12That's not the Europe that I love and know.
01:15All in the name of pretending to stop the global warming hoax.
01:20Claims that global warming is a hoax have been refuted time and time again.
01:25It's caused by humanity and poses a significant threat to the world.
01:29While it's true that only about 19% of European households have air conditioning,
01:34mostly due to the continent's historically milder climates,
01:37Europe is now warming twice as fast as the global average.
01:41A recent study published in Nature Medicine said that more than 62,700 people died in Europe
01:47from heat-related causes in 2024.
