This one went through as planned without any problems, hecklers or police interference. I did however fuck up one clip assuming it was leading into a chant (the same phrase being said that ended up being a chant for a full minute), stopping the recording accidentally.

Music composed for the timelapsed march (an entire long composition) is my own.

00:00:00We are here at the corner of Yonge and Tundas. Can the media hear me? Great. We're here at the corner of Yonge and Tundas as one of 70 plus cities across the country united to draw the line.
00:00:19We are here to say to the Karni government that we reject its billionaires' cost agenda that pits immigrants against climate, climate against workers, workers against indigenous people, and say that we are all united as one.
00:00:34We are here because over the last few months we have seen Karni push forward Bill C-5, an environmentally destructive bill that will result in pushing through projects without the free fire and informed consent of indigenous people.
00:00:48We have seen the Karni government put forward Bill C-2, which is going to take away the riot refugees to protect themselves and allow the government to cancel permits en masse.
00:00:57We have seen him decide to put nine more billion dollars into the military, which will all be a transfer of wealth to the shareholders of the weapons exporters.
00:01:07We have seen him go after airline workers, going after their right to strike. We have seen the government continue to arm Israel.
00:01:17And so this is one united billionaires' first agenda that is attempting to attack each and every one of our communities, and we refuse.
00:01:26We are here, here and in 70 plus cities across the country, to say that our movements are not divided and that Karni must take a side.
00:01:34So, we are going to be first here from renowned environmentalist David Suzuki.
00:01:40Following that we are going to hear from Krasi Naros, who has traveled 2,000 kilometers to be here with us.
00:01:47Then we are going to hear from Charlene, who is going to speak about the enormously successful attempt by working class people
00:01:54to push back and defend themselves against housing and evictions.
00:01:57And then we are going to hear some news from the Palestinian youth movement.
00:02:00And what we are doing here is showing that our movements are interconnected, that we are in one united struggle, and that we cannot be divided.
00:02:08That discrimination against one of us is discrimination against all of us.
00:02:12An attack on one is an attack on all, and we are united to put forward our agenda against the Karni Billionaire First Agenda, particularly in the lead-up to the fall budget.
00:02:22Thank you, David.
00:02:23I just want to remind you that in 1988, the first major international conference on the environment and climate was held here in Toronto.
00:02:42Let me start at the beginning.
00:02:46I just want to remind you that in 1988, the first major international conference on the environment, especially climate, was held here in Toronto.
00:02:55The title of the conference was Our Changing Atmosphere, The Implications for Global Security.
00:03:04There, the delegates who came from all over the world concluded that science was in, that global warming, that's what we called it back then, was a threat to human survival, second only to all-out nuclear war.
00:03:19And in 1988, they called for a 20% reduction in emissions in 15 years.
00:03:26That was it.
00:03:27If we had taken that seriously and acted on that, we wouldn't have the problem we have today.
00:03:34In 1988, sorry, 1992, this remarkable document, I want to remind you, was called World Scientists Born to Humanity, signed by 1,700 scientists from 71 countries, including over half of all Nobel Prize winners.
00:03:55And here's what it said.
00:03:57And here's what it said.
00:03:58Human beings in the natural world are on a collision course.
00:04:02Human activities inflict harsh and often irreversible damage on the environment and on critical resources.
00:04:09If not checked, many of our current practices push at serious risk.
00:04:15The future.
00:04:16We didn't pay attention to that.
00:04:2025 years later, 17,000 scientists from 184 countries signed World Scientists Warning to Humanity as second notice, saying that everything outlined in 1992 was worse than it was in 2017.
00:04:43Except for the ozone layer.
00:04:46In 2022, World Scientists Warning of Climate Emergency was released and it started and, quote,
00:04:56We are now at code red on the planet Earth.
00:05:02Humanity is unequivocally facing a climate emergency.
00:05:07And what we're here to say is stop all of the political, the economic stuff and the legal stuff.
00:05:15We are in an emergency.
00:05:18And we've got to act as it is an emergency.
00:05:22And you're going to hear from the people.
00:05:24I believe we're talking rules.
00:05:30Camillarif, Mayor crime, Johan and Tulsa.
00:05:33I'm Christi Izaaks from Brassineros.
00:05:35And we travelled here, over 2,000 kilometers, to come and share our story of mercury poisoning in our water that's been there for over 50 years.
00:05:4650 years. And that's 50 years of us trying to fight for justice for our community, the
00:05:53loss of our way of life, the loss of having a good, healthy life. You know, in the studies,
00:05:59I want to point out, you know, that there's been a lot of young people that have died
00:06:04because of the way mercury affects the brain. What it does is it depletes that happy chemical
00:06:13in their brain. So a lot of young people don't understand why they feel the way they feel
00:06:18and have left this world too soon, as young as 11 years old, you know. And Canada doesn't
00:06:28see that. They don't see what mercury poisoning is doing to our community. In the studies,
00:06:33it shows that in Gracie Narrows, our lifespan is 50 to 60 years, while the rest of Canada
00:06:41gets to live, you know, a good full life, 80 years. You know, every day we wake up and
00:06:51for me, I've lived with mercury poisoning my whole life. I was one of the babies that was
00:06:56born with it in my blood. You know, and as time goes on, I get more and more symptoms.
00:07:02And I see it in my children. I see it in my grandchildren. I've seen it in my grandfather
00:07:08and I've seen it in my parents. You know, that's five generations. How come Canada and the province
00:07:15haven't done anything about it? So that's why I'm here. I'm here to say, you know, enough
00:07:21is enough. We need our community to be fully compensated for the loss of life, for a short-span
00:07:29life, and we need justice. We need our river to be cleaned up, and we need justice. Justice
00:07:36for Gracie Narrows. Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Charlene Henry, and I am the co-chair
00:07:46of the York South Western Tunney Union. I'm here to say that migrants aren't the reason for the housing crisis.
00:07:52The federal government has made the housing crisis happen. As a worker, as a union member,
00:07:59as a mother, as a wife, as a daughter. In my building, we had to go on rent strike because
00:08:05we saw what was happening in our community. We were being displaced. Everyone was being
00:08:08pushed out at the northwest end of the city of Toronto for gentrification. We went on a
00:08:13rent strike for 15 months against a corporate landlord who the federal government is very friendly
00:08:17with. They lobby every day for more rights to build housing in this country. And we
00:08:23went on a rent strike in June 2023, and in October 2024, we won. We won back some
00:08:28conversations for folks. No one was displaced from their home. People's houses, apartments
00:08:33got repairs, and people just got to live a little bit more safe. But I want us to continue
00:08:38to say that migrants are not the reason why we have no housing in this country. 35 years
00:08:42of not building housing is the reason why we have no housing in this country. And the federal government
00:08:46is going to step up and build more housing. Solidarity.
00:08:52Thank you so much. So as you can see, when we think about the fact that we are on the brink
00:08:59of climate collapse, when we see that our people are struggling to make rent, to live a decent
00:09:06life, to be able to make our ends meet, and yet we see the Carney government coming out
00:09:11and enriching the billionaires. When we see Indigenous communities that have been struggling
00:09:17for over half a century simply for their river to be cleaned, simply for Brasi Naro to have
00:09:24the chance to be able to fall sick into their communities and be taken care of. And yet we
00:09:28are facing a government that refuses to act. We are in this moment also of enormous military expansion.
00:09:41We know that the Canadian government has continued to fund and support Israeli genocide, Israeli
00:09:47apartheid. And right now as there is a genocide taking place in Gaza, according to the UN and
00:09:53government and almost every human rights organization in the country, this country refuses to do enough.
00:09:59So we are here to say that whether it is on climate or economic justice, whether it is housing rights
00:10:06or migrant rights, whether it is Palestine or right here at home, we are facing a joint agenda
00:10:12and we will push back against it. And so today, we draw the line.
00:10:21We are going to take some media questions if people have any for all of us. So if I can ask the speakers to come up.
00:10:27We are also waiting for one more speaker if they can arrive. But does any media have any questions for any of the speakers?
00:10:32Right now we are facing, you know, the county government, but also absolutely we are facing a global climate collapse.
00:10:39We are seeing a world inch towards armament. We are seeing racism and xenophobia rising like never before.
00:10:46And so there is no more time to lose. We have historically organized on the basis of issues.
00:10:52We are saying that not only will we fight for our issues, we will fight together.
00:10:57And particularly in the context of an upcoming federal budget, which will really indoctrinate and internalize these decisions for years to come.
00:11:06We are seeing public service cuts being announced at the rate of 50 to 30 percent that it has become essential for us to do this.
00:11:12I organize with folks who have never organized before in 2023 for a rent strike.
00:11:18People are now becoming very aware of what's happening all around them, how it's affecting our lives each and every day.
00:11:24From our indigenous brothers, sisters and siblings, to migrants, to housing, it all is interconnected.
00:11:30So we have to draw the line and say it's enough is enough and push back.
00:11:34Because when we fight, we win. So we just have to keep fighting. Thank you.
00:11:38Yes!
00:11:40This is a question. And we are trying to do it in a sound light for you? Like this is crazy.
00:11:45The heart of our problem today is white racist patriarchy.
00:11:49Yes!
00:11:53And you only have to look at the roots. It begins with the age of exploration in the 1500s when Europeans discovered a way to navigate by the stars so they could go on a trip and get back home.
00:12:07back home. So they began to explore Africa, North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand,
00:12:14and everywhere they found riches. And there were people there, everywhere, people of color.
00:12:22And what you found is every rinky-dink government in Europe, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany,
00:12:29Italy, Austria, England, Denmark, they all established colonies to suck their resources
00:12:37from them and take over. And the indigenous people who'd lived in these lands for thousands of years
00:12:43were a pain in the ass because they didn't want you to come in and wreck their land.
00:12:48That's at the heart of all of this. And the systems we've constructed, the political and economic
00:12:54systems are founded on that ultimate mastery or supremacy of the white look at the world around,
00:13:02which is a resources look that was brought by the explorers. So you want to get to the heart of it.
00:13:08Mr. Carney is trapped by the system. I don't think he can be any different from Mr. Polyam
00:13:14because they're trapped by the system. And Danielle Smith and Ford have him by the shorts
00:13:22because they're all trapped in the system.
00:13:33What is our response to the question that these bills, C5, C2, etc., are about making Canada more
00:13:39resilient and about standing up to the United States? So let's be very, very clear. Bill C2 is an
00:13:46attempt to be able to take away the ability of people to apply for refugee status. That is not
00:13:52about security. That's about depravity. That's about denial. That's about discrimination. That's
00:13:58about abuse. These are not about border security. They are about economic attacks on our communities
00:14:04and division and destruction. When we look at Bill C5, Bill C5 creates a major projects office. And the
00:14:12CEO of that office now is a former pipeline CEO. This is not about developing Canadian economy. It is
00:14:21about enriching the CEO and the billionaire class who have been deeply integrated into the power of this
00:14:28country who are actually shaping public policy. Now we have to be very clear. The working people of
00:14:35Canada and the working people of the United States have more in common, whereas the CEOs in Canada
00:14:42and the CEOs in the U.S. and Prime Minister Carney have more in common. We are not here opposing or standing up to
00:14:51America. We are actually seeing that the Canadian military is deeply integrated into the U.S. government's
00:14:58projects, including its space war project. We see the Canadian border deeply integrated with America. We see
00:15:04the Canadian and American banks working hand in hand. And how do you differentiate between the
00:15:09ownership of these businesses because they are these billionaire shareholders who sit on all of
00:15:14these board offices, right? So this whole idea that Canada is putting its elbows up, but Carney is not
00:15:22doing that. Carney is not standing up to America. Carney is continuing the project of deeper and deeper
00:15:28integration with the United States. And we are being fooled and we refuse to be fooled. We are drawing the
00:15:34light because on one side is all of us and on the other are the super rich, whether they be American,
00:15:40Canadians, Europeans, Indians, or from any other place.
00:15:43Any other questions? The values of the Carney government is about corporations and power,
00:15:57not people. It's about profit over people. They are willing to give up our land in order to be rich
00:16:05while we're all here struggling. Folks can't put food on the table. Folks can't pay their mortgage.
00:16:10Folks can't pay their rent. And it keeps going up. When is the end? While they're sitting there
00:16:16accounting money. We're just trying to make ends meet. Thank you.
00:16:19We're too focused on the shallow, you know, Mr. Carney and all of that. The immediate, you're not
00:16:31looking at the underlying systems that are driving us. And I believe one of the major problems we have
00:16:37is, you know, ask any child, hold your breath for five minutes while I continue to talk. And they find
00:16:43out, damn, what the most important thing is in their lives. If you don't have air for three minutes,
00:16:49you're dead. If you have to breathe the kind of air that is right here in this walk right now,
00:16:55we get sick. And yet our prime minister for 10 years said, we can't do anything about climate change.
00:17:01That's crazy economics. So he elevated the economy above the very atmosphere that gives us air to breathe,
00:17:09that gives us weather, climate, and the season. This is what's crazy. The systems that allow
00:17:17one person in the world to say, he's going to be a trillionaire. A system in which the fastest
00:17:25growing segment of the economy are billionaires. Why is that even allowed? It's an obscenity for anyone
00:17:34to be in the super rich. You know what? Let's just give them a prize and say, oh, you've reached a
00:17:40hundred million? Great. We're going to take all the rest of your money. But here's, you are a big
00:17:46important person. Let's do it the way indigenous people did in British Columbia. When you acquired a
00:17:53sufficient standard in society, you threw a potlatch where you gave away everything. Why? Because the most
00:18:01important thing was standing in the community. And you got the right to carve another ring around your
00:18:07totem pole. And man, if you walked into the village and there were three rings, you knew that there
00:18:14was a really important person, not some asshole that's got $10 billion.
00:18:22Okay, our last speaker has arrived. Omar from the Palestinian Youth Movement. He's going to give
00:18:27his last remarks and then we'll end the press conference and start the rally. All right, Omar.
00:18:32Hello everyone. My name is Omar Al-Khatib. I am an organizer of the Palestinian Youth Movement.
00:18:38After two years of genocide in Gaza, the United Nations has now officially recognized that what is
00:18:44currently happening in Gaza is genocide. This comes after two-thirds of Gaza's infrastructure has been
00:18:51destroyed. It comes as the death toll has reached hundreds of thousands. But this level of death and
00:18:57destruction is no accident, but it's the result of the continuous failure of the international community.
00:19:04The failure to hold Israel and its back is to account. And today we are joined by a coalition of
00:19:10organizations demanding resolutions and actions towards justice for the many struggles that we face in
00:19:16our communities today. Because as Canada subsidizes fossil fuel corporations and builds pipelines on
00:19:21indigenous land without consent while criminalizing its land defenders, it is also subsidizing weapons
00:19:27for Israel and arming it with the tools of genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. Shame.
00:19:35The reality today is that Canadian-made weapon components are being sent to Israel
00:19:39with the sole intention of furthering death and destruction in Palestine.
00:19:43And this is why we are here today to demand a two-way arms embargo on Israel. This demand is part and
00:19:50parcel of our collective demands for justice today. Over the last two years, the Liberal government
00:19:56has claimed twice that they had stopped approving permits for arms exports to Israel. However,
00:20:01our arms embargo report exposes otherwise that shipments continue to make their way to Israel. Shame.
00:20:08This includes military parts for F-35 fighter jets that are currently bombing Gaza in the region.
00:20:15Contracts for over 50,000 mortar cartridges worth over 80 million dollars and more than 400,000 bullets.
00:20:22Shame. Shame. What this points to is a similar logic of how the Canadian state has approached the global climate
00:20:31crisis, how it has approached truth and reconciliation in this country. It's a logic that Canadian officials
00:20:37prioritize profits over morality and basic rights to life. And this is why we demand that the Canadian
00:20:43government and its institutions cut ties with this genocidal state and impose a two-way arms embargo.
00:20:49And it's this reason we believe that enforcing an arms embargo reflects the demand of all peoples seeking
00:20:56justice and demand for all oppressed peoples. Thank you so much. All right, everyone. Please gather together
00:21:07on the corner. We're going to have, please grab some placards, grab the banners, get ready. Soon you're going to
00:21:13hear us about the next steps. Thank you, everyone.
00:21:43One, two.
00:21:50You're going to hear us about the next steps.
00:21:53Those who are 난-
00:21:58otsided-
00:22:01And you're going to hear us about the next steps.
00:22:06The next steps.
00:23:15We are billionaires.
00:23:16It belongs to the people.
00:23:17Did you see them?
00:23:18They were looking down from their penthouse at us.
00:23:19They were all scared.
00:23:20They better be.
00:23:21If you need a seat, please go to the front.
00:23:26We have accessible seating here.
00:23:27If you need ASL interpretation, please come on up.
00:23:30up we have a comrade right here. So friends this march is part of a wave of
00:23:36actions of 70 cities across the land and we're here to show that people will not
00:23:41be divided by racism, by fear, or by greed. My name is Nigel Barif, I'm a president,
00:23:52vice president at the Elementary Teachers of Toronto. We've got a bunch of
00:23:56educators and education workers, but we're here with all of you. We stand with all of you here
00:24:03together today from all the different movements. I'm here with my MC co-MC, Sarone.
00:24:08Hi everyone, my name is Sarone from Migrant Workers Alliance for Change. If you are a
00:24:13migrant or a documented person, a refugee, an international, make some noise!
00:24:20If you are a resident or a comrade from grassy or an indigenous nation, make some noise!
00:24:27If you came from out of Toronto to be part of this historic march, make some noise!
00:24:3810,000 of us! 10,000! And as Nigel said, there are 70 cities across the country that are taken to the streets,
00:24:47including thousands outside the Prime Minister's office today in Ottawa.
00:24:54On Monday, Parliament returned. And let's talk about what this Prime Minister did since coming into office.
00:25:03He rammed through Bill C-5 to bulldoze up for indigenous lands.
00:25:09And what are we here to do? What are we here to do? To draw the line. What are we doing?
00:25:16Draw the line!
00:25:18He has also said that he is going to cut 15% in public service jobs as he spends $9 million in the military.
00:25:28What are we going to do?
00:25:29Draw the line!
00:25:31Austerity kills, that's right. At the same time, the richest few in this country, the corporations, the deportation judges, the pipeline CEOs, the corporate monopolies,
00:25:44they're getting richer while the rest of us are struggling to make ends meet.
00:25:48But what are we going to do? Draw the line!
00:25:51Racism and xenophobia has been used as a way to divide and distract working people.
00:25:58But we're not going to let that happen, right? We're going to refuse racism, reject division. Is that right?
00:26:04Yes!
00:26:05This Prime Minister said that he would defend Canada against the United States.
00:26:11But instead, what did he do? The first bill he tabled as Prime Minister was Bill C-2.
00:26:18This bill gives the government the power to cancel immigration permits en masse, to revoke permanent residency, to deny refugees seeking status.
00:26:30We're talking about women. We're talking about queer and trans people. We're talking about disabled working people who are now being denied the right to safety.
00:26:38But what are we going to do?
00:26:40Draw the line!
00:26:42This bill also gives the federal government massive powers to surveil all of us, whether we're migrants or citizens.
00:26:50So let's put this together. Increase in military funding, bulldozing over indigenous lands and sovereign rights,
00:26:57using racism and xenophobia to distract us while engaging in destructive climate policies.
00:27:04Who does this serve? It doesn't serve the 10,000 people who took to the streets today, does it?
00:27:10No!
00:27:11It serves them, and then there's the rest of us, who today are here to draw the line!
00:27:17So make some noise!
00:27:19So friends, we're gathered here today on the traditional territories of the Wendat, the Anishinaabe, the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Haudenosaunee.
00:27:28This land has been stewarded by indigenous peoples since immemorial.
00:27:33We honor their resistance and their leadership, and we recommit ourselves to solidarity with indigenous struggles.
00:27:43We want land back, and when we say land back, we mean all of it.
00:27:47All of Canada is on stolen land, so what do we want?
00:27:51First speaker, who's grounded in indigenous justice leadership, give your full attention and respect to Chrissy Isaac, a mother and land offender from Grassy Narrows.
00:28:01Give it up!
00:28:09Would you, um, welcome everybody!
00:28:14Thank you for coming.
00:28:15Um, first of all, I just want to say shame on you, Doug Ford!
00:28:24Fuck you, Doug Ford!
00:28:30We need to all stand together and, and, um, support all indigenous lands and waters.
00:28:39You know, right now in Grassy Narrows, 90% of my community is poisoned by, by mercury.
00:28:47For 50 years!
00:28:4950 years, but that's five generations in my family alone, where my grandpa, he, he lived off the land, and his source of, his way of life was the river.
00:29:01And, my mom, my dad, they have mercury poisoning, I have mercury poisoning, my kids have mercury poisoning, my grandchildren have mercury poisoning.
00:29:15Why is it taking so long to get justice, to even have clean water?
00:29:20I'm, today, when we're in this march, I'm also thinking about Nisgandiga.
00:29:25You know, they, they don't have clean drinking water.
00:29:28Why is it taking so long?
00:29:30You know, shame on you.
00:29:32Shame on the government for not taking, for not looking at us.
00:29:39And that mill, it's still going.
00:29:41That dried-in paper mill is still up.
00:29:44And it's still poisoning our people.
00:29:47You know, we need to shut it down.
00:29:48We need the government to shut it down.
00:29:51The government is to come here.
00:29:53To say, fuck you, duck guard!
00:29:55Smarten up!
00:29:57Sober up!
00:30:01Yeah, I'm gonna ask my brother here from Six Nations to, to say something, too.
00:30:05Woo!
00:30:25My name is Colin Martin.
00:30:29I'm a member of the Mohawk Nation Turtle Clan.
00:30:30a member of the mohawk nation turtle clan i am currently the chair of the hodoshone external
00:30:35relations committee i traveled here from six nations of the grand river territory and i extend
00:30:42many layers of gratitude to be able to share my words with you today it is an honor to stand
00:30:49side by side with each and every one of you as we collectively bring our bundles of strength
00:30:56and resistance together to unify against the ongoing colonial attacks of our oppressors
00:31:05and we all know who that is
00:31:09the hodoshone confederacy is not a stakeholder but a sovereign government and treaty partner to the crown
00:31:19we are the oldest known participatory democracy in the world today
00:31:26today as we bravely stand on the back of turtle island let us be grounded and feel the prayers
00:31:40and protection of our ancestors who fought hard for us all to be here
00:31:47there are many serious issues that have brought us here and i am so proud of every one of you who
00:31:52showed up here today that's a big nyawa goal from me to use
00:32:00it shows you are committed to change the future for our children our grandchildren and the faces
00:32:09yet to come any attempt to impose bill c5 or related development on hodoshone lands and jurisdiction
00:32:17without free prior and informed consent will be met with legal and physical resistance
00:32:29the path forward is clear canada and ontario must engage with the hodoshone confederacy as treaty partners
00:32:40not as an afterthought failure to do so will result in escalating consequences for your government and your economic priorities
00:32:51what we see here today is just the beginning
00:32:57fill your heart with the emotions of today go back to your communities
00:33:02and organize your people because we have some important work to do
00:33:14we will not stop we will stop at nothing to defend our lands our cultures our sovereignty
00:33:23and we will not we will let nothing stand in our way we demand justice we demand peace we demand
00:33:33protection of our mother earth
00:33:40in closing
00:33:44mark carney
00:33:46doug ford
00:33:47lend me your ear for a second or two and all those who support them we bring a strong message of
00:33:55resistance for you today if you continue to ignore us continue to value money over the protection of our
00:34:05lands continue to threaten our sovereignty continue to poison our people in grassy narrows
00:34:11let it be known that we are coming for you
00:34:21we are coming loud and proud armed with the strength and spiritual protection of our ancestors
00:34:34and for all of you who stand here today we stand here to draw that line stop
00:34:41make the change thank you
00:34:51houses personal support work and delivering food and medicine to your house
00:34:59here we are again only facing a federal government breaking their promise on regularization
00:35:06but then also blaming our communities for the economic crisis that so many of us are facing
00:35:20let's be clear we have a trap in the middle of party politics just opposing elections blame for
00:35:29everything that is running in this country politicians say we are playing for the housing crisis
00:35:37meanwhile they are the ones who got rid of rent control who are investing in affordable housing and
00:35:44allowing corporations to make massive amounts of profit politicians say we are to blame for the healthcare
00:35:52systems because not working meanwhile they are actively starving the public healthcare system
00:36:00privatizing and investing to make sure we all have access to educated healthcare
00:36:06politicians politicians like pierre polivier say they are not enough jobs for real canadians
00:36:18but who they mean when they say real canadians we are all immigrants on this land we are all the
00:36:28best owners except for the first nation and indigenous people of this land
00:36:38the truth is we are the backbone of this country we clean we care we cook we deliver we harvest
00:36:47our dirtyuri and our良 seants but for the whole country we will grow and lose our war
00:36:53it is that when we have come to the world we make perfect coats of pornography we are Your кож boobs
00:36:55the truth is that when we come to this country we clean we clean we wash we everyday
00:37:00clean we, clean we, clean we, clean up and store the lawns
00:37:05We are the work that keeps our society alive and生zy human life
00:37:11We know we do our work that makes Lorasku so much more life
00:37:13we areила in The truthfulness
00:37:16And still, we are criminalized and treated with detention and deportation.
00:37:26Now, we will see too, the government wants to give ourselves more power to strip migrants
00:37:35of permits, to deny hearings, increase surveillance and to push people out without justice or
00:37:42due process.
00:37:43This is nothing but a mass deportation agenda, and we say no, it's rising.
00:37:51They try to divide us, but we know the truth, an injure to one is an injure to all.
00:37:59Ellos tratan de dividirnos, pero nosotros sabemos la verdad.
00:38:05Cuando lastiman a uno, nos lastiman a todos.
00:38:09When migrants are denied housing, all working class people suffer.
00:38:19When migrants are deported, all families lost.
00:38:23We stand together for justice, dignity and status for all migrants.
00:38:29We fight not only for ourselves, but for every community struggling against borders and oppressions.
00:38:37Nosotros peleamos por justicia, por dignidad.
00:38:41Nosotros peleamos no solo por individuos.
00:38:45También peleamos por nuestra comunidad.
00:38:53Mexico to Palestine, Mexico to Palestine, from Turkey to Iceland to every land.
00:38:57We will not be silent.
00:39:01We will not be invisible.
00:39:03We are here, and we are not living.
00:39:05We are here, and we are not living.
00:39:09Nosotros seremos silenciados, seremos silenciados.
00:39:13Nosotros no seremos invisibles.
00:39:15Nosotros estamos aquí, y no nos vamos a ir.
00:39:21CasualQUESJOSE.
00:39:26Please repeat after me, justice for migrants.
00:39:30This is kwestia那些 плот předéto.
00:39:32Canada has a moral and legal responsibility to stop
00:39:37selling arms to Israel.
00:39:38Because they do keep vão.
00:39:43There is no doubt about that.
00:39:44That is factual.
00:39:46That is called international law.
00:39:48So it is our we are proud here today to introduce our next speaker from the Palestinian youth movement Omar
00:40:03I'm an organizer with the Palestinian youth movement
00:40:08We are honored to be speaking amongst a coalition of organizations
00:40:12Demanding resolutions and action towards justice for the many struggles that exist in our communities today
00:40:19Because as Canada subsidizes fossil fuel corporations and builds pipelines on indigenous land without consent
00:40:27While it criminalizes land defenders and exploits migrant workers to benefit its economy. It is also
00:40:35Subsidizing weapons for Israel and arming it with the tools of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine
00:40:42Shame
00:40:46What we see today in Gaza is not occurring in a vacuum
00:40:50In fact, it is a continuation of over a century of settler colonialism
00:40:56A genocide backed by the Western war machine and funded by Western governments Canada included
00:41:04Shame
00:41:06And this violent project like all the struggles we are supporting today
00:41:12Has prioritized profit over any sense of morality shame
00:41:20And after two years of genocide in Gaza the United Nations has now
00:41:26Recognized that what is happening is genocide this comes after two-thirds of Gaza's infrastructure has been destroyed
00:41:33It comes as the death toll has reached the hundreds of thousands
00:41:36But this level of death and destruction is not an accident
00:41:41It is the result of a continuous failure of the international community to hold Israel and its backers to account
00:41:48A direct result of complicity of Western powers and their investment in genocide
00:41:54Shame
00:41:55And the bleaker reality today is that Canadian made weapon components are being sent to Israel
00:42:05With the sole intention of furthering death and destruction in Palestine and the Arab region
00:42:12Shame
00:42:13Shame
00:42:14So this is why we are here today to demand a total two-way arms embargo on the Zionist state
00:42:22And this is part and parcel of our collective demands for justice today
00:42:28Because over the last two years this liberal government has claimed twice that it had stopped arms exports to Israel
00:42:35But our arms embargo report now has exposed that this is a lie and shipments continue to make their way to Israel
00:42:43Shame
00:42:44The logic of erasure we see in Palestine is the same logic that the Canadian state has approached the global climate crisis
00:42:55How it has approached truth and reconciliation in this country
00:42:59How it treats the migrant workers that sustain the lives of our people here
00:43:04It shows that Canadian officials have prioritized profit over any morality, decent or the basic right to life
00:43:13Shame
00:43:14Mark Carney, your responsibility is not to protect war criminals or enable genocide
00:43:21But to serve your constituents and address these domestic crises
00:43:26So we must continue to take these streets like we are today
00:43:30These numbers united horrified the ruling class
00:43:35They are petrified when they see us come together under these many different banners for the same cause
00:43:41So on October 4th we will be marching for two years of genocide in Gaza
00:43:51We're going to be starting like we did today 2pm at Yonge and Dundas
00:43:55Tell your friends, your family, your co-workers
00:43:59Because we have to continue this momentum that we saw today
00:44:02And apply it for this arms embargo
00:44:05For justice for all oppressed people
00:44:08October 4th, Yonge and Dundas, 2pm
00:44:13We hope to see you there
00:44:14So now we'd like you to please welcome two extraordinary Palestinian musicians
00:44:19Whose voices have carried songs of resistance, love and liberation across our city and far beyond
00:44:25Rula Saeed and Miriam Toller are artists and cultural workers
00:44:28Who weave together traditional era music and contemporary spirit
00:44:33Reminding us of the power that music to heal, to resist and to unite
00:44:37Today they bring their voices to this movement for justice
00:44:40Please join me in welcoming Rula Saeed and Miriam Toller
00:44:44We're going to take this, we're going to hear Rula Saeed and Miriam Toller
00:44:51Then we have two more amazing speakers
00:44:54And then there will be musical performance
00:44:56So please stick around
00:44:57If you do need a seat, there are some accessible seats here
00:45:00There are portable washrooms here
00:45:02But we're going to continue the program
00:45:04And we're asking you to keep your energy up
00:45:07Are you going to do that?
00:45:10I'm Rula Saeed and I'm joined by my sister and spirit Miriam Toller
00:45:19And her daughter Omnia Toller
00:45:22As a surprise guest
00:45:24And one of the reasons we're doing this
00:45:26Because we want a world for our children
00:45:30And we send our broken hearts and our love
00:45:38To the children and the people of Palestine
00:45:41Nowhere is it more clear where greed and domination and extraction and demonization
00:45:50Of the indigenous peoples is being exploited than in Palestine
00:45:54And on that note, we're going to sing a song that says we're coming to bring help
00:46:00And then we'll have more musical performances
00:46:03Where some of you will be able to put down your placards
00:46:06And get moving and dance
00:46:08And really celebrate the unity and the power that we built today
00:46:12So let's give it up for Ali Rougeau
00:46:15Who is a climate activist
00:46:16Ali, welcome to the stage
00:46:18Good afternoon Toronto
00:46:25You guys look so good when you come together to fight for justice
00:46:31So as you know, one of the reasons we are here today
00:46:36Is to end the destructive fossil fuel era we are in
00:46:40We want climate justice
00:46:42Hand in hand with justice for workers
00:46:45For indigenous peoples
00:46:47For migrants and for Gaza
00:46:48Last year, 70,000 Canadians had to flee their homes due to wildfires
00:46:58Thousands of them came back to nothing but ash
00:47:02And the hardest hit communities were rural, remote and indigenous communities
00:47:07Who are already struggling with no decent housing or healthcare
00:47:11Meanwhile, across Canadian cities
00:47:15There was hundreds of thousands of tenants
00:47:17Who were suffocated through dangerous heat waves
00:47:20Because of poor ventilation or AC
00:47:22That is the reality of the climate crisis
00:47:26It threatens every aspect of our lives
00:47:29And it hits working people the hardest
00:47:32But that climate crisis was avoidable
00:47:35The pain Canadians feel today is the result of decades of greedy, selfish politicians
00:47:42CEOs and bankers
00:47:44Who knew that keeping us hooked on fossil fuels would lead us there
00:47:49They created this mess
00:47:54And they are still fueling it
00:47:56Did you know that in Canada
00:47:59Oil and gas companies lobby our federal government five times per working day every year?
00:48:07Five times a day
00:48:09Our governments are completely captured by big oil
00:48:13And what better proof do we need
00:48:16Than Mark Carney
00:48:17Appointing a former fossil fuel CEO
00:48:20To head a new government agency in charge of approving projects
00:48:23Or energy minister Hodgson threatening to cancel the cap on oil and gas emissions
00:48:31Even though it is the most polluting sector in Canada
00:48:34And the only one whose emissions are going up
00:48:37Or the four governments bulldozing through indigenous rights and basic environmental protection with their ugly bill five
00:48:45And while our governments bend over backwards to please oil giants
00:48:52These guys are raking in billions
00:48:55And I mean that literally
00:48:57Canadian billionaires like the Irvings and the Richard Hussons
00:49:01And the Edwards continue to accumulate obscene amount of oil money
00:49:06While the world burns
00:49:08The result of this petrostate behavior is already clear
00:49:15Canada will not be reaching its 2030 climate targets at this pace
00:49:20Canada is still one of the top emitters per capita in the world
00:49:25Worse than the US
00:49:26Worse than China
00:49:27In India
00:49:28That so often gets cited
00:49:29Shame
00:49:32Because the consequences will be felt most by indigenous communities
00:49:36By migrants
00:49:36By low-income families
00:49:38And by our friends in the global south
00:49:39Who have not contributed to this
00:49:41So let's talk about how we get out of this destructive fossil fuel era
00:49:48First
00:49:49We separate oil and state
00:49:51We stop sending tens of billions of taxpayer dollars
00:49:54To fossil fuel companies at subsidies
00:49:56We kick big polluters out of the halls of power
00:50:01In Ottawa and in Queen's Park
00:50:03Second
00:50:05We invest in climate solutions
00:50:08That immediately make life better for Canadians
00:50:10Free reliable public transit
00:50:13Home renovations to lower bills
00:50:15And energy consumption
00:50:16Clean pumps for all
00:50:18To have accessible
00:50:19Clean heating and cooling
00:50:21Throughout the year
00:50:22And third
00:50:24We make the economy work for us
00:50:26Not the other way around
00:50:27We ramp up indigenous and community ownership
00:50:31Of renewables
00:50:31We mandate the circular supply chain
00:50:34For renewable energy
00:50:35And we create a youth climate core
00:50:38To employ tens of thousands of young people
00:50:40In climate jobs
00:50:41As I wrap up
00:50:46I want to say
00:50:46I understand how tempting it is
00:50:49To look away from the climate crisis
00:50:50I am terrified too
00:50:53But I want us to remember
00:50:55That ordinary people have come together
00:50:57To do extraordinary things in the past
00:50:59So instead of letting fear win
00:51:02Here's what we're going to do
00:51:03We're going to join forces with each other
00:51:06Like we're doing today
00:51:07Across movements and borders
00:51:08We're going to channel our rage
00:51:10And our fear
00:51:11Into pressuring this captured politicians relentlessly
00:51:14And we already start building
00:51:17The equitable climate solutions
00:51:19That we want for ourselves
00:51:20In our communities
00:51:21In our unions
00:51:21In our schools
00:51:22Because when our future is under attack
00:51:26What do we do?
00:51:28We stand up and we fight back
00:51:30Keep fighting back Toronto
00:51:31Thank you Ali
00:51:38Low wage workers are climate workers
00:51:42And our most impacted
00:51:43Migrant workers are climate workers
00:51:45Gig workers are climate workers
00:51:47And that's why we need to stand up
00:51:49Against this carny agenda together
00:51:51It's carny and it's other politicians
00:51:53Who do the bidding of the ruling elites
00:51:56Who make profit off of our crisis
00:51:58But we say no more
00:51:59Some of those ruling elites
00:52:00Includes some of the richest people
00:52:02In this country
00:52:03Who are housing developers
00:52:04So next we're going to welcome
00:52:06Charlene Henry
00:52:07Who is a member of Unifor
00:52:09As well as an organizer
00:52:10With York Southwest Tenants Union
00:52:13Give it up for Charlene
00:52:14Good afternoon everyone
00:52:19How are you feeling this afternoon?
00:52:22My name is Charlene Henry
00:52:24I'm here with the York Southwest Tenant Union
00:52:26I'm also a worker
00:52:28A mother
00:52:29A daughter
00:52:30A wife
00:52:31And most importantly
00:52:32An activist
00:52:33I got involved in tenant rights
00:52:38Many years ago
00:52:39When the roof of my building
00:52:40Fell down
00:52:41I live on the top floor
00:52:42I was pregnant with my first child
00:52:43Came home to a big bubble
00:52:45I said what the hell is that?
00:52:47And water came down
00:52:48On all of my son's stuff
00:52:49Before he was born
00:52:49I went to the tenant
00:52:51To the building
00:52:52And they said
00:52:52There's nothing we can do about it
00:52:54I learned about this thing
00:52:55Called the landlord and tenant board
00:52:57Right here in Ontario
00:52:58That Doug Ford and his friends control
00:53:00The landlord and tenant board
00:53:01Is not for tenants
00:53:03It's for landlords
00:53:04Corporate landlords
00:53:05The same corporate landlords
00:53:07Who are in Ottawa
00:53:08Lobbying the Kearney government
00:53:10To make sure that they have
00:53:11More land to develop on
00:53:12Shame on them
00:53:13Shame on them
00:53:14Over the years
00:53:16I've kept fighting for tenant rights
00:53:18With my neighbours
00:53:18Many of my neighbours
00:53:19Have never organised before
00:53:21But as a member of a union
00:53:22I had a union behind me
00:53:23That helped me become vocal
00:53:24And stand up for the rights of tenants
00:53:26In this city
00:53:27Province and country
00:53:28In 2023
00:53:29Myself and 200 of my neighbours
00:53:31Went on a rent strike
00:53:32A rent strike
00:53:33Where we held our money back
00:53:34From our corporate landlord
00:53:35For 15 long months
00:53:37No one thought we would make it
00:53:41They said they won't last one month
00:53:43We lasted 15 months
00:53:44My mother's on the audience
00:53:46She's a senior on a fixed income
00:53:48She held her rent for 15 months
00:53:50For the betterment of her neighbours
00:53:51So we could have clean homes
00:53:53Free of pests
00:53:54With no rent increases
00:53:56That are exuberant
00:53:56Because our rents were going up
00:53:58By 8, 9 and 10 percent
00:53:59We fought the battle
00:54:01And we won back in 2024
00:54:02But we keep fighting
00:54:04We keep fighting
00:54:06Because every day
00:54:07We see everything going up in price
00:54:09We go to the supermarket
00:54:10What we have to buy
00:54:11Is more expensive
00:54:12We have to drive
00:54:13Take the transit
00:54:14It's more expensive
00:54:15But the government
00:54:16They're not doing anything
00:54:17To help us
00:54:17Queen's Park doesn't help us
00:54:19Parliament doesn't help us
00:54:20That's why we're here today
00:54:21We're standing up
00:54:22And we're fighting back
00:54:23Against all the things
00:54:24That economic injustices
00:54:25That are happening
00:54:26Right around us
00:54:27So I ask everyone here
00:54:28Get together with your neighbours
00:54:30Talk to them
00:54:31Support each other
00:54:32Walk with them
00:54:33March with them
00:54:34Fight this system
00:54:36Fight the land on our tenant board
00:54:37Ask for rent control
00:54:38Not ask
00:54:39Demand rent control
00:54:40We need it
00:54:41Because people are suffering
00:54:42Every day
00:54:42They're deciding
00:54:43Between paying rent
00:54:44And putting food
00:54:45In their cupboards
00:54:46To eat
00:54:46Their children are going
00:54:47To school hungry
00:54:48They're not functioning well
00:54:50Because they're hungry
00:54:51In school
00:54:51Because parents can't afford it
00:54:52So let's get together
00:54:54And support the tenant movement
00:54:55And make sure that
00:54:56In Queen's Park
00:54:57We bring back rent control
00:54:58Vacancy control
00:54:59And we stop these
00:55:00Corporate landlords
00:55:01Up in Ottawa
00:55:01From taking our land
00:55:03It's for the people
00:55:04People over profit
00:55:05From the Nation Killer Whale
00:55:11From the House of Wakas
00:55:13Bella Bella
00:55:14She is a member
00:55:16Of the Yaxip
00:55:17Fire Keepers
00:55:18Jixxan-led
00:55:19Youth-led
00:55:20Collective
00:55:21Dedicated to land defense
00:55:22And cultural resurgence
00:55:24Welcome Gracie
00:55:25My name is
00:55:38Grace Vickers
00:55:39And I'm a killer whale
00:55:40From the House of
00:55:41Awibakwa Wakas
00:55:42I'm Hiltzik
00:55:43Haida
00:55:44And Tsimtian
00:55:45And I'm a member
00:55:46Of the Lakia Fire Keepers
00:55:48This is a
00:55:48Gitsan Youth-led
00:55:49Collective
00:55:50And it was born
00:55:51Out of resistance
00:55:51We came together
00:55:53Because colonial industry
00:55:54Is pushing
00:55:55To carve the
00:55:56Prince Rupert
00:55:56Gas Transmission Pipeline
00:55:58Through our lands
00:55:59And we're here
00:55:59To draw a line
00:56:00The Prince Rupert
00:56:02Gas Transmission Pipeline
00:56:07Or PRGT
00:56:09Is an 800 kilometer
00:56:10Pipeline
00:56:11Designed to move
00:56:11Frack gas
00:56:13From northeast BC
00:56:14To the coast
00:56:15Along its route
00:56:16It cuts directly through
00:56:17Unseated
00:56:18Gitsan
00:56:18And Witsudan territories
00:56:20And it isn't just
00:56:21A line on a map
00:56:22It's an industrial corridor
00:56:23That will bring
00:56:24Compressor stations
00:56:25Man camps
00:56:26Tanker traffic
00:56:27And the constant risk
00:56:29Of spills
00:56:29Leaks
00:56:30And explosions
00:56:31As indigenous youth
00:56:32We were too often
00:56:34Left out of this conversation
00:56:35Even though
00:56:36We are the ones
00:56:37Who will be living
00:56:37With the impacts
00:56:38Long after the companies
00:56:39Pack up and leave
00:56:40If our voices
00:56:42Are silenced
00:56:42Our futures are stolen
00:56:44And that's why
00:56:45We demand
00:56:45That decision making
00:56:46Frameworks
00:56:47Honor indigenous law
00:56:48And the seven generations
00:56:49Principle
00:56:50The PRGT pipeline
00:56:57Doesn't just threaten
00:56:58The land
00:56:58It threatens the safety
00:56:59Of indigenous women
00:57:00And children
00:57:01With the risk
00:57:01Of man camps
00:57:02It puts our rivers
00:57:03Salmon
00:57:04And medicine
00:57:05At risk
00:57:05It threatens
00:57:06Our hospitals
00:57:07Our health
00:57:08Our air pollution
00:57:09From compressor stations
00:57:10It steals from our future
00:57:12To feed billionaires
00:57:13This is a US-backed pipeline
00:57:15And it's directly lining
00:57:17The pockets
00:57:17Of Trump's inner circle
00:57:18And it's leaving
00:57:19Our community
00:57:20To clean up the mess
00:57:21We cannot keep
00:57:25Selling our precious resources
00:57:27For the short-term profits
00:57:28Of the wealthy
00:57:29While rural indigenous communities
00:57:31Pay the real price
00:57:32With our health
00:57:33Our safety
00:57:34And our survival
00:57:35So
00:57:36Today we call on Canada
00:57:38Stop siding
00:57:39With corporations
00:57:40And start protecting
00:57:41The collective well-being
00:57:42Of future generations
00:57:44Our food
00:57:45Our water
00:57:46And our air
00:57:47These are all
00:57:48Non-negotiable
00:57:49And lastly
00:57:55I just wanted to recognize
00:57:57The two work
00:57:58Of indigenous women
00:57:58From Toronto
00:57:59They joined the
00:58:00Freedom Flotilla
00:58:01Moskwasan
00:58:03Moskwasan
00:58:07And Dr. Suzanne
00:58:08You can follow their journey
00:58:09At Turtle Island
00:58:10To Palestine
00:58:11And you can follow
00:58:12Our journey
00:58:12On Instagram
00:58:13With the Lakiap Fire Keepers
00:58:15Or Gitsan
00:58:16Youth of the Gitsan Lakiap
00:58:18Or Lakiap Youth
00:58:19So lastly
00:58:20I just wanted to make it known
00:58:22From Skena to Palestine
00:58:23Occupation is a crime
00:58:25So I actually
00:58:25All right
00:58:34I'm going to do a chant
00:58:35With you guys
00:58:36From Skena to Palestine
00:58:39Occupation is a crime
00:58:41All right everyone
00:58:45That's all
00:58:45Of our speakers today
00:58:46We next up
00:58:48Have some amazing
00:58:49Musical performances
00:58:50We're going to ask you
00:58:52To put up the signs
00:58:53At the front
00:58:53But before you move
00:58:55And before you start
00:58:57Dancing to the amazing
00:58:58Music that you're
00:58:59About to hear
00:58:59Just want to take
00:59:01In this moment
00:59:02This historic moment
00:59:04Where 10,000 people
00:59:06Hit the streets
00:59:07Not only from one movement
00:59:08But across five
00:59:10Different movements
00:59:11To fight back
00:59:12Against an austerity
00:59:14Agenda
00:59:14An agenda
00:59:15That is killing people
00:59:16But today we said
00:59:17We refuse
00:59:18And we will make life
00:59:20Is that right?
00:59:24So we need
00:59:25The megaphones back
00:59:27We let some megaphones
00:59:28Out there in the audience
00:59:29If you mind
00:59:30Bringing them back
00:59:31Behind the stage
00:59:32Yes if you have
00:59:33A megaphone
00:59:34Please bring it up
00:59:35Okay
00:59:36This is the kind
00:59:39Of creativity
00:59:39And power
00:59:40That we need
00:59:41We have puppets
00:59:42We have
00:59:42I saw a puppet
00:59:43Of David Fingal
00:59:44The Scotiabank
00:59:46Fund manager
00:59:46Earlier
00:59:47This is exactly
00:59:48What we need
00:59:49For not only
00:59:49October 4th
00:59:50The Palestinian youth
00:59:51Movement
00:59:52Action
00:59:53At Young and Dundas
00:59:542pm
00:59:55For the next set
00:59:56Of actions
00:59:56That will happen
00:59:57In order to continue
00:59:58And fight back
01:00:00Against Carney's
01:00:01Billionaire first agenda
01:00:03Because when we fight
01:00:04You're welcome to the stage
01:00:07Thank you everyone
01:00:08If you have a placard
