00:09And it's not just for locals.

00:12If you're in Garrachico this Friday morning, expect your phone to suddenly beep, vibrate,

00:17and flash a warning message.

00:18No need to panic.

00:20This is part of Spain's national ES alert system test.

00:23It'll hit all 4G and 5G phones in the area, even tourists, with loud alerts in English

00:28and Spanish.

00:29But here's why it's happening.

00:31Mount Tida, Tenerife's massive volcano, hasn't erupted since 1909.

00:36But with increasing gas emissions, ground shifts, and seismic activity, scientists say there's

00:41now a 40% chance it could erupt in the next 50 years.

00:45That's why emergency teams are running a full-scale readiness drill to make sure they're prepared

00:49for the worst.

00:51People are being urged not to call 112 and to safely stop their car before checking the

00:55alert if they're driving.
