00:00This fortune-teller machine took the lives of many innocent people.
00:03During the 1970s in New Jersey, there was a popular boardwalk that sat on the edge of town.
00:08On the outside of one shop in particular was a fortune-teller machine called Zappa.
00:13For years it was popular with visitors who paid 25 cents to get a good fortune.
00:18But in June of 1977, the machine was randomly remodeled without the knowing of anybody,
00:23and the man inside looked more lifelike this time.
00:25Over the next few months, 23 people would be found deceased around the city,
00:30and every one of them had a fortune slip in their possession that said,
00:34Today will be your last.
00:36The authorities eventually tracked it back to the Zappa machine,
00:39and while they were investigating it, many of the officers put quarters into the machine to get a fortune.
00:45All of them got good ones, except one officer named Ray Zenz, who got a threatening one.
00:50At the time he wasn't concerned, and he ended up throwing his fortune into the trash.
00:55Later that night, a call came into the police from Ray's home phone,
00:59and the only thing they heard before it disconnected was a yell from Ray that said,
01:03Zappa.
01:04The next morning, Ray was unfortunately discovered by horrified boardwalk visitors inside the fortune-telling machine.
01:10The next morning, by staircase for the PoliticokeUN, and the most important note of TLS this time
01:20is being cleared tothought.
01:21Hello, anyway.
01:21Later, I guess it was not too late for a lightning-telling machine.
01:24But after that, a bombs nig Okey-telling software turned into account
01:26that might cause an error for an invisible reason,
01:29but after that, there is it that thì crumpetered with the bat,
01:31and a knife-telling machine.
01:34Well left again.
