00:00Minecraft is the world's most popular game with over 300 million copies sold.
00:04Because of its open-ended design, the experience can vary a lot depending on which server your
00:08child connects to.
00:09So is it safe to just let your kid explore virtual worlds willy-nilly?
00:13Well, there are family-friendly servers like the Sandlot and Cubecraft, and Microsoft's
00:17Family Account tools which help you manage your child's experience.
00:20So talk to your child about how to play responsibly, what content to avoid, and how to handle
00:24interactions with others online.
00:26Minecraft also collects personal data, like email, play habits, and even chat logs.
00:30To limit this, adjust privacy settings, and on mobile, always select Ask App Not to Track.
00:36Minecraft can be a creative outlet, just stay involved and keep the conversation going.
00:40You can use Microsoft Family Safety or the Xbox Family app to manage your child's Minecraft
00:45experience, set screen time, limit spending, block multiplayer, turn off chat, and monitor
00:50activity.
00:51Minecraft can be a great tool for expressing creativity, but there are also risks to be
00:55aware of.
00:56Be careful out there.
00:58Teach your child to spot and report inappropriate behavior like bad language, threats, or unwanted
01:02contact.
01:03Show them how to report, block, or mute players in Minecraft through the in-game menu.
01:07Most importantly though, encourage open dialogues about setting boundaries with people online,
01:11creating strong, secure passwords for their accounts, and let them know what they shouldn't
01:15disclose openly online.
