00:25Chapter 571 Harry taken away tonight's dinner was much more lavish than usual.
00:32As the judges made their way through the side door to the classroom section,
00:36the golden plates were just about to reveal a feast of delicious food.
00:40Kyle grabbed a piece of bacon and glanced toward the square where the judges were seated.
00:46Madame Maxime seemed to be in high spirits, smiling broadly. In stark contrast,
00:51Karkaroff sat beside her with a sour expression, his stern face betraying his displeasure.
00:57Bagman, usually cheerful and exuberant, appeared oddly unsettled tonight,
01:02leaning in to speak to Dumbledore with an anxious demeanor. Whatever he was saying,
01:07Dumbledore merely shook his head in response, calm and unwavering.
01:11His dream of being on the front page has come to nothing, came a voice beside Kyle.
01:16Startled, he turned to see Fred and George, who had somehow made their way to the Hufflepuff table.
01:23Don't look so surprised, George said with a grin.
01:27We thought you might be getting too nervous, so we came to cheer you up.
01:31Thanks, Kyle replied with a small smile.
01:34But what do you mean about Bagman's front page dream?
01:38That's the second thing we wanted to tell you, Fred whispered, leaning in.
01:42The plan to take hostages has been cancelled.
01:46What?
01:47Kyle asked, his voice low but sharp with surprise.
01:51It's exactly as it sounds, George said, shrugging.
01:55We found Dumbledore earlier and even volunteered to become hostages ourselves.
02:00But the headmaster wasn't having it, Fred interjected.
02:04He said the maze was dangerous enough and didn't want to risk any students who weren't champions.
02:08So, right before dinner, Dumbledore, Maxime, and your father, George continued, the three of them voted to cancel the plan.
02:18Karkaroff wasn't happy about it, though, Fred added, shooting a glance at the teacher's table.
02:24He said everyone was being cowards and claimed this wasn't the Triwizard Tournament he remembered.
02:30He had a full-on shouting match with them in the entrance hall.
02:33Did it work?
02:35Cedric, seated nearby, asked with interest.
02:39Of course not, George replied.
02:42The old Triwizard Tournament was cancelled in the first place because too many people died.
02:47Now that it's back, most folks want to avoid taking unnecessary risks.
02:53Kyle glanced toward the teacher's table.
02:55Bagman was still talking animatedly to Dumbledore, clearly siding with Karkaroff, but none of that mattered now.
03:01The cancellation of the hostage plan was a relief.
03:06At least it was one less thing to worry about during the competition.
03:10Before long, dinner ended, and the enchanted ceiling shifted from a bright blue to a deepening dusk.
03:17Dumbledore rose from his seat, and the hall fell silent at once.
03:20Ladies and gentlemen, he began, his voice carrying across the room, in ten minutes, I will ask you to proceed to the Quidditch pitch to observe the final event of the Triwizard Tournament.
03:32For now, the champions will accompany Mr. Bagman to the pitch.
03:36Kyle stood, receiving a wave of applause from the Hufflepuff table as they cheered him on.
03:41He joined Fleur and Crumb, and together they left the great hall.
03:47As they walked, Kyle noticed Fleur's nervousness, she kept taking deep breaths, her composure strained.
03:53Crumb didn't fare much better, his usual stoic demeanor replaced by occasional stumbles and a look of unease.
04:00When they arrived at the Quidditch pitch, it was entirely transformed.
04:04The hedges surrounding the field had grown to towering heights, nearly twenty feet tall, with only a shadowy opening left at the front.
04:13You've got a few minutes to collect yourselves and get into the right mindset, Bagman told them as he led them to a set of changing rooms before stepping out.
04:21Fleur and Crumb each found a spot to sit, their nerves evident in their quiet demeanor.
04:27Kyle considered striking up a conversation with Fleur to pass the time, but seeing her deep in thought, he decided against it.
04:34Instead, he chose a nearby seat and waited in silence for the match to begin.
04:40Minutes later, the sound of the crowd began to filter in.
04:44Excited chatter and the shuffle of footsteps filled the air as spectators took their places in the stands.
04:49For a moment, Kyle was reminded of the first task, sitting in the same room, listening to the rising anticipation of the audience outside.
04:58The door to the changing rooms creaked open, drawing everyone's attention.
05:02A head poked through the gap before retreating.
05:06Who's there?
05:08Kyle, sitting closest to the door, got up and opened it slightly, just in time to catch Hermione and Ron trying to sneak away.
05:15Sorry, we didn't mean to interrupt, Hermione said, looking embarrassed.
05:21We just wanted to see Harry and tell him not to be nervous.
05:25Harry?
05:26Kyle asked, frowning.
05:29Yeah, Ron said, his tone tinged with envy.
05:33Filch came to get him, said it had to do with the third task.
05:37Lucky him, getting to be part of the Triwizard Tournament.
05:40But he's not here, Hermione added, glancing past Kyle into the room.
05:46We'll leave now.
05:47Good luck, Kyle.
05:50Wait.
05:51Kyle called after them.
05:53When was Harry taken away?
05:56Just now, Hermione said.
05:58Not long after you left for dinner.
06:01Filch said Professor Dumbledore had asked him to bring Harry to the Quidditch pitch to help with the event.
06:07Kyle's sense of unease deepened.
06:09Something didn't add up.
06:12Fred and George had clearly mentioned at dinner that the hostage plan had been cancelled, so why would Filch take Harry?
06:18No.
06:20Hermione and Ron exchanged confused looks as Kyle suddenly bolted from the room, sprinting toward the area where the referees were gathered.
06:28What's gotten into him?
06:30Ron asked, scratching his head.
06:33We were having a nice chat, and then he just ran off.
06:36Oh no, he's not going to turn us in, is he?
06:40You know we're not allowed in the champion's restroom.
06:44Don't be silly, Ron, Hermione said, though her expression had turned grave.
06:49Kyle's not like that.
06:51Come on, let's check the bowsbatons and durmstrang tables, maybe someone's missing there too.
06:58Why do we have to do that?
07:00Ron asked, clearly reluctant.
07:03The match is about to start.
07:04Ignoring him, Hermione took off toward the center of the stands, leaving Ron no choice but to follow.
07:12Meanwhile, Kyle reached the referee's stand, where Dumbledore was speaking with several professors adorned in starry robes.
07:19Kyle.
07:20Dumbledore said, noticing him approach.
07:24What are you doing here?
07:25The game is about to begin.
07:28There's something important, Professor, Kyle said, glancing around at the others.
07:34Recognizing the urgency, Dumbledore stepped forward, motioning for Kyle to speak.
07:39Go on.
07:41Do we need to rescue hostages during this task?
07:44Dumbledore chuckled lightly.
07:46You're well informed.
07:48That idea was considered but ultimately rejected.
07:52You don't need to, Harry's been taken, Kyle interrupted, his voice firm.
07:57The humor faded from Dumbledore's face, replaced by concern.
08:02That's impossible.
08:04The idea of taking a hostage was rejected before dinner.
08:08But Harry was taken, Kyle insisted.
08:11Ron and Hermione saw Filch take him, claiming it was to make the game more interesting.
08:15Dumbledore's expression darkened.
08:19His gaze swept across the field, pausing momentarily on Karkaroff, who was conversing with someone nearby, before returning to Kyle.
08:27I see, Dumbledore said quietly.
08:30The game will begin shortly.
08:33You should return to your position.
08:36Kyle hesitated, but nodded and left the stands, his mind racing.
08:41This development had caught him completely off guard.
08:43Why would Filch, of all people, take Harry?
08:48The imperious curse.
08:50Polyjuice potion.
08:52Kyle couldn't be certain.
08:54Fred and George had been keeping the Marauder's map to monitor Ludo Bagman, leaving Kyle without a way to confirm Filch's movements.
09:01Still, Filch was an ideal cover, an irritating but largely ignored figure in the castle.
09:08He could roam anywhere without suspicion.
09:11Even if he consumed Polyjuice potion in plain sight, students wouldn't think twice about it, or he could simply drink it in private.
09:19Kyle tried to recall the last time he'd seen the Marauder's map.
09:22The day he returned it to Fred and George, he'd taken one final glance.
09:28At the time, Filch had been in his office with Mrs. Norris, and there hadn't been any mention of Barty Crouch on the map.
09:35But now, Kyle shook off his thoughts as he approached the maze entrance.
09:41Fleur, Crumb, and Ludo Bagman were already waiting for him.
09:46You're lucky, Bagman said, hurrying over to pull Kyle into position.
09:50You would have missed it by a minute.
09:53Despite his cheerful words, there was a flicker of disappointment in Bagman's eyes, as though he'd secretly hoped Kyle wouldn't make it in time.
10:02Hogwarts.
10:03I am such a model wizard.
10:06Chapter 572 Firestorm Charm
10:08By the time Kyle rejoined the other champions, the four professors tasked with patrolling the maze to ensure their safety had already gathered.
10:15We will be patrolling the maze, Professor McGonagall informed them, her tone stern.
10:22If you encounter any difficulties and require assistance, send red sparks into the sky, and we will come to your aid.
10:29Is that understood?
10:31The champions nodded in unison.
10:33With that, McGonagall, Hagrid, Professor Moody, and Flitik dispersed, each heading to a different part of the maze to take their positions.
10:43No one noticed the tiny billy wig that had wriggled its way down Hagrid's robes and into the maze.
10:49Or perhaps someone did notice but dismissed it, after all, a transformed Quidditch pitch teeming with magical creatures hardly seemed out of the ordinary.
10:57A billy wig or a few bowtruckles wouldn't draw much attention.
11:02At that moment, Bagman raised his wand to his throat and cast an amplifying charm.
11:08Ladies and gentlemen, the final event of the Triwizard Tournament is about to begin, his voice boomed, reverberating through the stands.
11:16The crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
11:19Bagman went on to announce the current scores.
11:21Kyle, leading with 98 points, was the clear front runner, followed by Crum in second place.
11:29Fleur, having lost too many points in the second task, was in last place.
11:34Kyle barely registered the announcement.
11:37His focus wasn't on the scores but on the judges' section.
11:41Dumbledore was gone.
11:43In his place sat Cornelius Fudge, the minister for magic, who had come to witness the final event.
11:48Fudge looked delighted, clapping with the same enthusiasm as the rest of the crowd.
11:55A sharp whistle snapped Kyle out of his thoughts, it was the signal to start.
12:00Without hesitation, he darted into the maze.
12:03The towering hedges loomed on either side, casting deep shadows that seemed almost alive.
12:10A spell of silence enveloped the maze, cutting off the roar of the spectators as soon as he crossed the threshold.
12:15Reaching the first fork, Kyle stopped and laid his wand flat on his palm.
12:21Point me.
12:23The wand spun once before settling, pointing to the hedge on his right.
12:28But Kyle knew that wasn't the correct path.
12:30Confringo.
12:32With a flick of his wand, the dense hedge burst apart, leaving a gaping hole.
12:37Kyle didn't pause to inspect his handiwork, he ran straight through and kept moving.
12:42A golden mist shimmered ahead, spreading across the path.
12:47Ventus.
12:49A fierce gust of wind tore through the mist, scattering it instantly.
12:53As the path cleared, several red caps leaped from the hedges, their wooden clubs raised.
12:59Before they could strike, Kyle's reflexes kicked in.
13:02With a swift motion, he sent them hurtling backward, their assault neutralized before it even began.
13:09He continued running, his mind racing as fast as his feet.
13:14There's no doubt, Harry has been taken by a Death Eater.
13:18If Harry was still within the castle grounds, Dumbledore would surely locate him.
13:22But if the captors had already fled, apparition would make it nearly impossible for Dumbledore to track them down.
13:30Kyle had thought preventing Harry's name from entering the Goblet of Fire and ensuring Moody wasn't replaced would avert the worst.
13:37Yet here they were, things have gone disastrously wrong.
13:41The Death Eaters must have taken Harry to resurrect Voldemort.
13:44But where?
13:46Kyle's only lead was the Riddle Manor in Little Hangleton, the ancestral home of Voldemort's family.
13:51He tried to uncover more about the location over time, but Tom Riddle Sr. was an unremarkable figure whose history had left almost no trace.
14:01Could it really be Little Hangleton?
14:04Kyle didn't know for certain.
14:06But he couldn't waste time speculating.
14:09His priority now was to get out of the maze as quickly as possible and inform Dumbledore.
14:14If Little Hangleton was the key, Dumbledore needed to know immediately.
14:18And there was another critical point weighing on Kyle's mind.
14:23It couldn't be a coincidence that someone had maneuvered Harry into the Triwizard Tournament as a hostage.
14:29This wasn't just about spicing up the competition, as Ludo Bagman had claimed.
14:34There had to be a deeper motive.
14:37Perhaps something here could facilitate Harry's removal from Hogwarts.
14:40Something like using the Goblet of Fire as a port key.
14:45If Kyle's suspicions were correct, whoever orchestrated this had likely tampered with the Goblet of Fire beforehand.
14:51The plan to add hostages must have been part of the deception, an excuse to position Harry near the goblet.
14:57But when the judges rejected the proposal just before the competition, the culprits had been forced to adapt and take Harry directly.
15:06That meant the port key enchantment on the Goblet of Fire might still be active.
15:11Although it was just a theory, it was worth investigating.
15:15Activating the port key could be the fastest and most reliable way to locate Harry.
15:20Little Hangleton was only a guess, and there was no guarantee Voldemort was even there.
15:24If Kyle went searching blindly and found nothing, it would waste valuable time.
15:31But first, Kyle needed to find the Goblet within the maze.
15:34If his hunch was wrong, he would need another plan, and quickly.
15:39Just then, a faint buzzing caught his attention.
15:42He looked up to see a billywig lazily hovering to his left, bobbing up and down.
15:48Magical creatures like billywigs can navigate the air above the maze freely, unlike wizards.
15:53Its movements seemed deliberate, almost as if it were tracing a path.
15:59Kyle watched it carefully, realizing it wasn't heading due north as Cho had once thought.
16:04With renewed focus, Kyle turned and raised his wand, pointing it in the billywig's direction.
16:10This should be about the right distance.
16:13Let's test it.
16:14He shook his wrist gently, and from the tip of his wand, a strange, glowing symbol emerged, shimmering in the dim light.
16:22The air around him began to warm, the temperature rising rapidly.
16:27Sparks flickered and danced on the hedges, forming a swarm of golden-red flames.
16:32The fiery embers flared to life, gathering momentum, and in mere moments, they coalesced into a massive, surging wave of fire.
16:40The flames crackled and roared, their energy radiating like a living entity.
16:46As if sensing the imminent danger, the creatures hidden within the maze erupted into chaos.
16:52Shrill cries and panicked screeches filled the air from every direction, particularly from the area where Kyle's wand was aimed.
16:59The hedges themselves seemed to shudder and convulse violently.
17:02The spell detonated with explosive force, tearing through the maze.
17:10The golden-red inferno surged forward, consuming everything in its path.
17:15Hedges, traps, and magical barriers were obliterated in an instant, reduced to smoldering ash.
17:21It was as if a giant had ripped an entire section of the maze away, leaving behind a blackened expanse devoid of obstacles.
17:29Under the dark night sky, the sudden burst of flames in the maze was impossible to miss.
17:35All eyes in the stands turned toward it simultaneously.
17:39Even Bagman, who was poised to blow his second whistle, froze, his attention captured.
17:44His face was pale, beads of cold sweat trailing down his forehead.
17:50No way!
17:51He just went in a minute ago.
17:54How could he have gotten that far, he muttered, visibly shaken.
17:58In his panic, Bagman blew the whistle prematurely, signaling Crumb to enter.
18:04But the sound was lost amid the rising commotion from the spectators.
18:07Before their astonished eyes, the flames, which had been coiling together moments earlier, suddenly transformed.
18:15Like a giant hurling a spear with all their might, the flames pierced through half the maze in an instant.
18:22What remained was a broad, golden-red pathway, blazing brightly on the ground.
18:27At the end of the pathway stood the goblet of fire, a shining symbol of triumph.
18:32For a moment, the stands were deathly silent.
18:35Then, an eruption of cheers shattered the quiet, their fervor so intense it seemed capable of dispersing the heavy clouds above.
18:44From the judge's stand, Madame Maxime rose abruptly.
18:48Her voice rang out, indignant and accusatory.
18:52This is impossible.
18:54You cheated.
18:56Someone must have helped him.
18:58Her accusation carried weight.
19:00The hedges of the maze had been enchanted to resist fire and cutting spells.
19:04Even an ordinary blasting curse would only leave a small dent.
19:09Yet now, they had been sliced through effortlessly, as if they were nothing more than butter under a hot knife.
19:16Maxime's disbelief was palpable.
19:19This level of magic, terrifying in its precision and power, was beyond what she could imagine a mere 15-year-old achieving.
19:25I don't think so, Madame Maxime, fudge interjected from nearby.
19:31His shock from earlier had given way to his usual composed, aloof demeanor.
19:36Both Dumbledore and I have high regard for this young man's abilities, he said with a faint smile.
19:43He's exceptionally gifted.
19:44In a few decades, he might even succeed Dumbledore as headmaster of Hogwarts.
19:51His tone shifted, laden with self-satisfaction.
19:54But I think he's more suited to a role in the ministry.
19:58I'm confident I can groom him to be the youngest minister of magic in history.
20:03Maxime didn't so much as glance at him, her focus entirely on the impossibility she had just witnessed.
20:08If this is talent, then what is Fleur, a champion reduced to nothing more than a flobberworm with a wand?
20:16Fudge, irked by Maxime's lack of response, consoled himself with the thought of Kyle's apparent victory.
20:23His long-standing frustration over Britain's lackluster Quidditch performances was momentarily eased by this unexpected success in another prestigious event.
20:32He felt an urge to assert his connection to Kyle, to bask in the reflected glory.
20:36But as he turned to seek support from another judge, he noticed the seat beside him was empty.
20:43Igor, he asked, addressing a nearby Durmstrang student.
20:48Where did he go?
20:49The student responded calmly, the headmaster just left.
20:53He said he might have forgotten something on the ship.
20:57Is that so?
20:58Fudge murmured, his brow furrowing slightly.
21:02The timing seemed odd, but he brushed it off.
21:05Surely Karkaroff had simply chosen to avoid witnessing his school's loss firsthand.
21:11Hogwarts.
21:12I am such a model wizard.
21:15Chapter 573
21:16My student on the other side, Kyle, still wandering through the maze, had no idea what the audience might be thinking.
21:24Once the hedges blocking his view vanished, his eyes lopped onto the trophy glinting at the center of the flames.
21:31Without hesitation, Kyle sprinted toward it.
21:33A sphinx crouched near the edge of the flames, its role to deter the champions with riddles or resistance.
21:41Yet, as Kyle dashed past, the creature seemed to lose all interest in him, suddenly fascinated by a stone on the ground.
21:49It lowered its head, feigning indifference.
21:52Reaching the trophy without any obstacles, Kyle didn't pause.
21:56He grasped the cup handle firmly.
21:59But the trophy didn't budge.
22:02Instead, an overwhelming force tugged at him, lifting his feet off the ground in one swift motion.
22:08It really is a portkey, Kyle thought with elation.
22:12Relinquishing all resistance, he let the trophy pull him forward, carried away through the rushing wind and swirling colors.
22:18Kyle couldn't tell how much time had passed, maybe a minute, maybe just a fleeting moment, before he felt solid ground beneath him once again.
22:28But this wasn't Hogwarts.
22:30Darkness surrounded him, and in the distance, he spotted a cluster of pointed rooftops perched on what appeared to be a hill.
22:37Hurry, run, run.
22:40A panicked scream broke through the silence before Kyle could take a closer look.
22:45The voice sounded vaguely familiar.
22:48Looking up, Kyle saw Harry sprawled on the ground, his face contorted with pain.
22:54One leg appeared injured, and he was using his arms to drag himself toward Kyle.
22:59It's Voldemort.
23:01Harry shouted, his voice trembling with both agony and fear.
23:04He's resurrected, and the Death Eaters, they, Harry didn't need to finish.
23:10The moment Kyle landed, figures in black robes and masks encircled him, their movements swift and coordinated.
23:17Oh, look who's here.
23:19A hoarse voice drawled from behind the circle.
23:23The hooded figures immediately parted, bowing with a deference that resembled servitude.
23:28Through the gap, a tall, gaunt figure emerged.
23:31Cloaked in black, his skin was deathly pale, almost translucent, and his scarlet eyes burned like coals.
23:39He had no nose, only two slitted nostrils, like a serpent's.
23:44Voldemort.
23:46My student, Voldemort purred, his voice smooth but laced with menace.
23:50Is this how you greet your professor?
23:53I thought you'd be so overjoyed, you'd scream.
23:57Don't be ridiculous, you're not my professor, Kyle shot back without hesitation.
24:03Harry was still there, and Kyle wasn't about to let Voldemort twist the narrative.
24:08How heartless, Voldemort mused, his gaze steady.
24:12When you came to me seeking the secret to eternal life, your tone was much more, respectful.
24:17What eternal life.
24:20I don't know what you're talking about.
24:23Oh, don't you?
24:25Voldemort twirled a wand between his pale fingers.
24:28Addressing the Death Eaters, he continued, his voice calm but cutting.
24:33Years ago, I returned to Hogwarts, reduced to a mere parasite clinging to Quirrell's feeble form.
24:39It was a disgraceful existence, all because the people I trusted most, his voice sharpened,
24:45none of you, made any effort to find me.
24:48Though his lips curled into what might have been a smile, his tone was glacial.
24:53The Death Eaters immediately prostrated themselves, groveling and pleading for forgiveness.
24:59Only one remained standing a pale man with freckles and a mangled arm.
25:03Barty Crouch Jr. Voldemort ignored the groveling crowd and continued, his crimson eyes fixed on Kyle.
25:11Back then, a boy was the first to uncover my presence.
25:15Clever and daring, he caused me considerable trouble, so much so that he even dared to threaten the Dark Lord.
25:21A cold smile spread across his face.
25:24I always thought it would be a while before I saw you again, my student.
25:29Yet here you are, so soon.
25:32Have you come to celebrate my rebirth?
25:34If so, I quite like this gift.
25:38It is I, my lord.
25:40It is I.
25:42One of the Death Eaters crawled forward, trembling.
25:45I made the Triwizard Cup a portkey.
25:48It was I who delivered this champion to you.
25:50Voldemort's gaze flicked to the groveling man.
25:55Karkaroff, he murmured, his tone dripping with contempt.
25:59I'd assumed that a coward like you would have fled the moment you caught wind of my return.
26:04My lord, I would never betray you.
26:07Karkaroff pressed himself flat against the ground.
26:10I only stayed hidden to await the right moment to welcome you back.
26:15And look.
26:16I've captured Harry Potter for you.
26:19Oh.
26:19Voldemort turned to Barty Crouch Jr., the only Death Eater who hadn't bowed.
26:25Barty, Voldemort drawled, is this true?
26:29Barty sneered.
26:31He only agreed out of fear, my lord.
26:34But, he did contribute.
26:36Kyle's brow furrowed.
26:39Barty Crouch Jr., defending Karkaroff.
26:41That's, odd.
26:44Karkaroff had once exposed Barty's identity as a Death Eater, yet here he was, acknowledging his effort.
26:51Were Death Eaters really this forgiving?
26:54Kyle didn't have time to dwell on the thought.
26:57Seize him.
26:58Voldemort's voice cut through the air like a blade.
27:01I want him alive.
27:04The Death Eaters surged forward.
27:07But Kyle was faster.
27:09A fiery dragon erupted from his wand, roaring as it charged at the closest Death Eater.
27:15In seconds, the flames consumed the man, his scream cut short as he collapsed, motionless.
27:20Fiend Fire, someone shouted in alarm.
27:25The Death Eaters hesitated, stumbling back.
27:28Even through their masks, their shock was palpable.
27:32Isn't he just a student?
27:34They watched in stunned silence as the fiery dragon coiled above them, its movements fluid and terrifyingly lifelike.
27:42A single thought echoed among them, unspoken.
27:45What kind of student wields Fiend Fire with such ease?
27:48And then, they remembered the first thing Voldemort had said upon seeing him.
27:54My student.
27:55The pieces clicked into place for the Death Eaters.
27:58That makes sense now, one of them muttered under their breath.
28:02Idiots.
28:04Voldemort spat, his voice venomous.
28:07With a simple flick of his wand, the Fiend Fire Dragon dissolved into nothingness, leaving only smoke and embers behind.
28:14But it was too late.
28:15As the Death Eaters turned back to Kyle, their gazes fell on the objects he now held a golden feather and an unremarkable bead.
28:24Voldemort's crimson eyes narrowed, a flicker of unease crossing his face, an emotion so foreign it made the Death Eaters uneasy too.
28:33Quick, stop him.
28:35Voldemort's command was cut short.
28:38Crack.
28:39Kyle crushed the feather and bead in his hands simultaneously.
28:43In an instant, a thick, impenetrable fog blanketed the small hill.
28:49The mist was so dense that visibility dropped to nothing.
28:53The Death Eaters, who had lunged at Kyle, stumbled and crashed into one another, shouting in confusion.
28:59Bang!
29:00What's happening?
29:02Over here, grab him.
29:04I've got him, my lord, I've got him, one Death Eater bellowed triumphantly.
29:10In the chaos, someone mistakenly grabbed Voldemort himself, clamping their fingers over his slit-like nostrils in the process.
29:18Avada.
29:20A flash of green light cut through the fog, illuminating the chaos for a brief second.
29:25Worthless, incompetent fools.
29:27Voldemort's voice thundered, trembling with fury.
29:32Even he had been caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the mist.
29:36Hogwarts.
29:38I am such a model wizard.
29:40Chapter 574
29:42This snake is nice, I'll take it the sudden mist obscured Voldemort and the Death Eaters' view, making them lose their target.
29:48Faced with the dense fog that blanketed almost the entire mountain, Voldemort hesitated momentarily.
29:55He couldn't pinpoint Kyle's location, and casting a random spell risked injuring his own followers.
30:02Not that he cared about their welfare, of course, but having just been resurrected, he had countless plans to set in motion.
30:09He needed them, at least for now, to handle the tasks he deemed beneath him.
30:14Letting them die here would be wasteful, especially given their incompetence over the past decade, crimes worthy of execution several times over in his eyes.
30:24Raising his wand, Voldemort attempted to dispel the fog, but the effect was minimal.
30:30The howling wind did thin the mist slightly, but clearing it entirely would take time.
30:35Meanwhile, Voldemort knew he had to act quickly to prevent his prey from escaping.
30:41Nagini, he commanded coldly.
30:44A massive snake, at least twelve feet long, slithered to his side, its movement swift and unimpeded by the dense mist.
30:52You can smell him, Voldemort hissed, his scarlet eyes gleaming.
30:56Find the boy.
30:58Don't let him escape.
31:00The serpent immediately writhed off into the fog, moving with a fluid grace that defied the haze.
31:06Voldemort returned his focus to his spellwork.
31:08The wind atop the mountain intensified, bending tree branches and forcing the Death Eaters to cling to whatever they could to keep from being swept away.
31:18Gradually, the fog began to disperse.
31:21As the mist cleared, Voldemort's gaze snapped toward where Nagini had gone.
31:26What he saw enraged him.
31:28Kyle stood there, not frightened as Voldemort had anticipated, but smiling.
31:33He was helping Harry to his feet, while a Niffler, absurdly, attempted to shove Harry's glasses into its pouch.
31:41Nagini lay motionless on the ground.
31:44And standing between them all was someone Voldemort could never mistake, or forget.
31:49Albus Dumbledore
31:51The old wizard stood calmly, his expression serene and unwavering.
31:57Voldemort's wand shot up, and a jet of light surged toward Dumbledore.
32:01Because Kyle and Harry stood behind him, Dumbledore did not move to avoid it.
32:06Instead, with a flick of his wand, he sent forth a burst of orange light.
32:11The two spells collided mid-air, resulting in a deafening explosion.
32:16Dumbledore then swept his wand in an arc.
32:19Around them, the trees came alive, their roots tearing free from the soil.
32:25Thick branches moved like massive arms, lashing out at the death-eaters.
32:30Screams erupted as the death-eaters scrambled to defend themselves, hurling spells that normally shattered stone.
32:37But these spells barely scratched the enchanted trees.
32:40One death-eater, slower than the rest, was caught by a branch that pierced his leg, eliciting a howl of pain.
32:47Meanwhile, the ground beneath Kyle suddenly transformed into a steep slope.
32:53Without hesitation, Kyle and Harry slid down it as though on a natural slide, retreating swiftly from the battlefield.
33:00Just before the slide took them away, Kyle grabbed Nagini's tail, dragging the massive snake along with him.
33:08No.
33:09Stop.
33:10Voldemort's piercing shriek rang out, but Kyle paid no heed, tightening his grip on the snake.
33:17With Dumbledore holding the field, what could Voldemort do to him?
33:21Sure enough, as Voldemort moved to pursue them, a powerful spell forced him back.
33:26Out of the way, Dumbledore.
33:28You know this is impossible, Tom, Dumbledore replied calmly.
33:34So let this mark the end of your resurrection.
33:37So, you mean to take my life?
33:40Dumbledore, can you truly bring yourself to commit such a cruel act?
33:45Kyle couldn't hear the rest of the exchange.
33:48He and Harry continued sliding uncontrollably down the steep slope conjured by Dumbledore.
33:53It felt endless, the uneven terrain peppered with sharp stones making the descent painful.
33:59By the time they finally came to a halt, Harry was in agony.
34:04His body ached all over, and he lay sprawled on the ground, groaning as he tried to find a position that didn't hurt.
34:11Kyle, on the other hand, fared much better.
34:14He had managed to climb onto Nagini early in the descent, using the snake's massive body as a makeshift cushion.
34:20Standing up and dusting himself off, Kyle opened his suitcase, placed it on the ground, and began shoving the limp snake inside by its tail.
34:30Midway through, something brushed against his arm, startling him.
34:35He spun around, only to find Harry standing awkwardly nearby.
34:39What are you doing?
34:41Harry asked, squinting at him.
34:44Kyle.
34:45I'm sorry.
34:47Harry reached out blindly, his hands groping at the air.
34:51I can't see very well.
34:53Have you seen my glasses anywhere?
34:56Kyle glanced at the Niffler perched on his shoulder.
34:59The mischievous creature instinctively covered its pockets with its little paws.
35:04No, Kyle replied evenly, shaking his head.
35:08I think I dropped them on the way here.
35:10In truth, the Niffler had Harry's glasses, and Kyle had no intention of returning them.
35:16Without the Niffler, Kyle wouldn't have found Harry in the fog, and Dumbledore wouldn't have been able to save either of them.
35:24In a way, the Niffler had saved Harry's life.
35:27A pair of glasses seemed like a fair price to pay.
35:31Besides, there were things Harry didn't need to see right now.
35:35His current state of blurred vision suited Kyle just fine.
35:39Kyle quickened his pace, shoving the rest of Nagini's body into the suitcase.
35:44Harry squinted harder, trying to make sense of the blurry figure in front of him.
35:49All he could discern was Kyle hunched over something that vaguely resembled a large piece of wood.
35:54What are you doing?
35:56Harry asked again.
35:58Ah, nothing.
36:00Just moving some things, Kyle replied casually.
36:04With a final push, he stuffed the rest of Nagini inside, shut the suitcase, and stood up.
36:10By now, they had reached a spot near the village at the base of the mountain.
36:15The view of the mountaintop was obscured, though occasional flashes of multicolored light lit up the sky above, hinting at the battle raging there.
36:23I thought I heard Professor Dumbledore's voice earlier, Harry said, struggling to his feet.
36:29Now more alert, Harry spoke urgently, Kyle, you have to tell Professor Dumbledore, Voldemort.
36:36Voldemort has come back to life.
36:39Someone used a hand, a bone, and my blood.
36:43They put it all in a cauldron and boiled it, and Voldemort, he came out of it.
36:48We have to let Professor Dumbledore know right away.
36:51Kyle blinked, his mind snagging on the description.
36:55Harry's recounting sounded oddly familiar.
36:57Yes, that was exactly how Hagrid made his infamous hodgepodge stew, throwing in all sorts of claws and bones before adding the main ingredient at the end.
37:08Could it be that Voldemort had learned this method from Hagrid?
37:11Kyle shook his head, banishing the absurd thought.
37:15I'm not joking.
37:17Harry insisted, misinterpreting Kyle's silence.
37:21Voldemort is really back.
37:22We have to hurry and tell Professor Dumbledore.
37:26Relax, Harry, I believe you, Kyle reassured him.
37:31Remember?
37:32I saw him too.
37:34And Professor Dumbledore already knows.
37:37He does.
37:39Of course.
37:41He's up there right now, fighting Voldemort.
37:44We were sent down by him for safety.
37:46So that really was Professor Dumbledore.
37:49Harry murmured, his voice tinged with wonder.
37:53Of course.
37:55How else do you think we managed to escape?
37:58Kyle said.
37:59That's, good.
38:01That's really good, Harry muttered, relief washing over him.
38:06His legs gave out, and he sank back to the ground, too overwhelmed to stand any longer.
38:11Hogwarts.
38:12I am such a model wizard.
38:16Chapter 575
38:17Two Death Eaters
38:18Harry's nerves, stretched taut throughout the ordeal, finally began to relax.
38:24For the first time, he had a moment to process what had just happened.
38:28Fragments of memory surfaced.
38:31He recalled being brought to this place by Filch, or rather, someone pretending to be Filch.
38:37No, it had been a Death Eater under Polyjuice Potion.
38:41Voldemort had called him Barty Crouch.
38:44Barty Crouch.
38:46That name rang a bell.
38:48It was the same as Percy's boss at the ministry, whom Harry had met at the Quidditch World Cup.
38:54But this Barty had used his blood, Harry's blood, to resurrect Voldemort.
38:59Then Kyle had appeared.
39:01The Death Eaters had tried to kill him, but Kyle had driven them back with a fiery dragon.
39:06A fiery dragon.
39:09Harry's mind lingered on the memory, vivid despite the chaos.
39:13Kyle had repelled an entire group of Death Eaters and even killed one on the spot.
39:18At the time, Harry had thought he was dreaming, that he was still asleep in his bed back at Hogwarts.
39:24But the searing pain in his leg had kept him grounded in reality.
39:29After that, the fog had rolled in, thick and disorienting.
39:32His memories blurred further.
39:36My glasses.
39:37He remembered losing them inexplicably.
39:40Without them, everything became a shapeless haze.
39:44Harry had heard Dumbledore's voice at some point but dismissed it as a figment of his imagination.
39:50Now, with Kyle confirming it, the truth was undeniable Dumbledore had come.
39:54Can you tell me what happened?
39:57Harry asked, his voice edged with confusion.
40:01His thoughts were a tangle.
40:03He didn't understand why Kyle was here.
40:06Wasn't Kyle supposed to be busy with the Triwizard Tournament?
40:09And how had everything changed so quickly?
40:13Kyle glanced toward the sky, where the frequency of flashing spells was increasing.
40:18He paused, thinking before responding.
40:20How should I put this?
40:24Weren't you taken by Filch earlier, supposedly to be brought to the maze as a hostage?
40:29He's Barty Crouch.
40:31Harry interjected, hurriedly clarifying, not Mr. Crouch from the Ministry of Magic, but the
40:36other one with the same name?
40:39Oh, Barty Crouch Jr., Kyle said, nodding.
40:42The son of the Mr. Crouch you mentioned?
40:46What?
40:47Harry's voice rose with disbelief.
40:49Kyle didn't elaborate, instead continuing his explanation.
40:54But the idea of using hostages was scrapped before dinner.
40:59Coincidentally, Hermione and Ron came to the champion's restroom looking for you because
41:03they were worried.
41:05That's how we found out you've been taken.
41:07And Karkaroff replaced the Goblet of Fire with a portkey.
41:11When I touched it, it brought me here.
41:14And Professor Dumbledore?
41:15I have a, unique way of summoning his phoenix, Kyle replied.
41:21He glanced up again.
41:23The lights in the sky were now blinking like rapid-fire signals, and roars echoed intermittently
41:28from the mountaintop.
41:30Okay, Harry, Kyle cut him off before he could ask more questions.
41:34Let's head back first.
41:37There will be plenty of time to talk once we're at Hogwarts.
41:41But Professor Dumbledore, you're not thinking of helping, are you?
41:45Kyle asked, a note of disbelief in his voice.
41:49Helping Dumbledore fight Voldemort?
41:52Harry fell silent, chastened.
41:54Even though he couldn't see Kyle's eyes clearly, the incredulity in his tone made Harry realize
42:00how foolish the suggestion had been.
42:03So, how do we get back?
42:05Harry mumbled, quickly changing the subject.
42:09Did you bring your broom?
42:11Yes, Kyle replied with a nod.
42:14Then, as if dismissing the idea, he added, but we don't need it.
42:19Just grab my arm.
42:21He extended his hand.
42:23Harry watched as Kyle reached out, seemingly to grasp at empty air.
42:28Kyle noticed Harry's blank expression inside.
42:31Okay, that was inconsiderate of me.
42:34He adjusted his stance, extending his arm further.
42:38Harry reached out hesitantly and grabbed his sleeve.
42:42Just as Kyle was about to disapparate, his attention snapped to the bushes nearby.
42:47Who's there?
42:49Come out, he demanded, raising his wand.
42:52Harry, immediately on alert, drew his wand from his pocket and pointed it, though in
42:57the exact opposite direction of where Kyle was aiming.
43:01True to the champion of Hogwarts, came a dull, mocking voice.
43:05From the bushes emerged a Death Eater, his figure cloaked but unmistakably human.
43:11You can't just leave, the masked figure said, his tone flat.
43:15Or I won't be able to explain to my master.
43:19That's easy to solve, Kyle replied calmly, his wand tilting slightly.
43:23The Death Eater flung himself to the ground, rolling and scrambling out of the spell's trajectory.
43:31A split second later, the bushes behind him were sliced cleanly in half, the sharp edges
43:36of the cut smoldering faintly.
43:39Cold sweat dripped down the face concealed behind Lucius Malfoy's mask.
43:43He hadn't come here to fight, he had only wanted an excuse to slip away from the battle
43:48on the mountaintop without incurring Voldemort's wrath.
43:52Tracking Kyle and his friend had seemed like a convenient way to do that.
43:56Lucius had known Kyle was capable of using Fiendfire, a terrifying skill, but in the open
44:02space of the hillside, its effectiveness would be limited.
44:05What he hadn't anticipated was that Kyle had mastered other lethal spells.
44:11That curse could have been as deadly as the killing curse.
44:14The realization hit Lucius hard this 15-year-old student was far more dangerous than he'd expected.
44:20Lucius hesitated, torn between standing his ground or fleeing.
44:25He hadn't come here to die.
44:27He'd come to show loyalty, not to risk his life.
44:31But his hesitation cost him.
44:33A row of jagged stone spikes suddenly erupted from the ground.
44:38One impaled Lucius through the sole of his foot.
44:41Ah!
44:42Lucius screamed in agony, clawing at the ground as he tried to free himself.
44:47A wand pressed against his temple.
44:50Sectum.
44:52Kyle's voice was cold.
44:54I surrender.
44:56Lucius shouted desperately.
44:58I surrender.
45:00You can't kill me.
45:01You're Dumbledore's student, he wouldn't allow it.
45:06Kyle's wand lowered slightly, and he nodded.
45:09Itch em.
45:10That's true.
45:12Relief flooded Lucius's body.
45:15He exhaled shakily, thinking of how he could spin this disaster into a tale of his survival.
45:20But then Kyle's voice broke through his thoughts, muttering as though to himself.
45:26If, if a lost 5x magical creature happened to pass by here, say, an acromantula, and you happen to be unable to move, and it injected you with its venom, wouldn't that make more sense?
45:38Lucius's momentary relief evaporated.
45:40His heart raced.
45:42There were no acromantulas here, but he didn't doubt Kyle's insinuation.
45:48Magical venom was portable, and Lucius himself had a collection at home.
45:52The realization was chilling.
45:55This is a muggle area.
45:57There aren't any magical creatures here.
46:00Lucius shouted frantically.
46:01If you do this, you'll be caught, the Ministry of Magic will find out.
46:07Avada.
46:09The faint voice came from somewhere distant, cutting through the tension like a blade.
46:14Kyle's pupils contracted sharply.
46:17He grabbed Harry and yanked him back just as a flash of green light streaked past, barely missing them.
46:23Reacting instinctively, Kyle slashed his wand toward the source of the spell.
46:28Sectumsempra.
46:29The curse struck an arborvitae tree, splitting it in two.
46:34But there was no sign of the attacker.
46:37Kyle's mind raced.
46:39Someone had just cast the killing curse, and he hadn't sensed their presence at all until the spell was fired.
46:46This wasn't random, whoever it was had been hiding, waiting.
46:50Was the curse aimed at Harry?
46:52Or at him?
46:54It didn't matter.
46:55However, the unknown assailant was the real threat now, and staying here was no longer an option.
47:01An earthen wall rose from the ground, shielding Kyle and Harry as Kyle reached for his companion.
47:07Hold on to me, he shouted.
47:10Harry, rattled but obedient, grabbed Kyle's arm.
47:13With a sharp pop, the two vanished from the spot, leaving the hillside behind.
