00:05:17rocky maivia's head to frustrate him helmsley has a huge edge in the experience here even though

00:05:22helms is a very young man and many say that helmsley is the most cerebral intercontinental champion

00:05:28since the honky-tonk man the most cerebral huh yeah for you morons out there that means he's the

00:05:33thinking man's champion that's it trained by former wwf great and hall of famer killer kowalski so uh

00:05:41helmsley knows what to do inside the ring don't ever be fooled by that

00:05:44i heard simply for the ride coming off the rope and down goes rocky maivia helmsley over him now

00:05:49crisscrossing ropes and nice hip-top and rocker look out drop kick and got quite a bit out but

00:05:56it's underhurst helmsley slides to the outside and again breaking the momentum as a veteran would

00:06:00that's right breaking the all-important momentum that a young man like rocky maivia will pick up

00:12:39against stone cold steve austin and what about the undertaker well it's going to be a great

00:12:43challenge for the undertaker he's going to meet savio becker who's been red hot and no doubt the

00:12:48entire nation of domination will be on hand to no doubt to challenge the undertaker as well

00:12:54he's obviously still still trying to impress the honky-toned man but he's fighting a losing battle right

00:22:24As a matter of fact, ladies and gentlemen, coming up next will be Shawn Michaels in what

00:22:28has to be a emotional moment.

00:22:30And look at this.

00:22:31Bob Holly really taking it to Mosh.

00:22:33Mosh and Thrasher, the headbangers.

00:22:38A most unusual, ooh, what a close line.

00:22:39And Bob Holly, since returning to action here in the World Wrestling Federation,

00:22:43has really been coming into his own.

00:22:47You know, I got to say, man, speaking of Shawn Michaels, I was really looking forward to it.

00:22:51I've been looking forward all week to seeing the show off get shown up here at the showdown

00:22:55with Psycho Sid.

00:22:56But then when the news broke about Shawn Michaels, I mean, you know, that's a crushing blow to anybody.

00:23:03Even Shawn Michaels, I mean, I got to even maybe feel for the guy.

00:23:07Well, here's someone who, whether you like him or you don't like him,

00:23:11whether you like long hair or you don't like long hair or earrings or whatever it is he has in

00:23:15his belly button or doesn't have in his belly button.

00:23:18One thing you can give Shawn Michaels is that more than any other WWF superstar,

00:23:23perhaps in history, he gives you his all, whether you like him or you don't.

00:23:27Look at the great matches in 96 he had with Vader,

00:23:32his classic in September against Mankind, the WWF title.

00:23:36I mean, this kid gave it 110% each and every night, no matter where he was around the world.

00:23:41Well, the match with Bret Hart at the last year's WrestleMania was nothing short of extraordinary.

00:23:46I mean, match after match, whenever you think about some of the best matches in

00:23:50the World Wrestling Federation ever in history, a lot of them, if not most of them,

00:23:56would include Shawn Michaels, whose career could very well come to a bust off as a result of this knee injury.

00:24:05And I might add, this is not an injury, ladies and gentlemen, that is happening all of a sudden.

00:24:11I mean, this is, if you're Shawn Michaels and you put your body through what,

00:24:15through what he puts his body through on a given, there's a cover here, on a given night.

00:24:22That has to take its toll and unfortunately, apparently that is what has happened.

00:24:27The toll has just been too much for Shawn Michaels.

00:24:30He is slated for knee surgery and we just don't know the extent of the damage done to the knee.

00:24:37He may, God forbid, not return to action.

00:24:42Well, you know, until the doctor opens him up and that's what's gonna happen.

00:24:45We're not gonna know the severity of the situation and if it's gotta be completely

00:24:48reconstructed, my, it's gotta be completely reconstructed, he may never be back, number one.

00:24:54He may never be the same, number two.

00:24:56We just don't know.

00:24:58It's just a heartbreaking situation for a young kid in his prime just realizing his

00:25:02dream to be debilitated as he has.

00:25:06Well, you guys don't need to soft, I mean, try to soft pedal it.

00:25:09Tell the people what his doctor said, that his complete reconstructive surgery needs

00:25:14to be done on his knee and most likely, it's a career ending injury.

00:25:19Not necessarily, again, as JR said, no one will really know until they get inside the knee.

00:25:24But again, Shawn Michaels, ladies and gentlemen, can't give you 99%.

00:25:29He has to give you 100% every night when he goes to the ring, more than any other WWE

00:25:34superstar perhaps.

00:25:36And look at this, the headbangers trying to make it a favorable impression here

00:25:40before this capacity crowd on Thursday, Raw Thursday.

00:25:44Let me ask you and Rob something, McMahon.

00:25:46Do you guys in any way at all feel responsible for what's happened to Shawn Michaels?

00:25:50When you guys out here constantly talking about him being the most resilient,

00:25:54the most flamboyant, the most charismatic, naturally, he feels obligated every night to put his body at risk.

00:26:00Hey, he's not Superman, nobody is, and now this is what's happening.

00:26:04As a matter of fact, I certainly feel partially responsible, considering the schedule.

00:26:08No one's ever been on the schedule like Shawn Michaels has been from a promotional standpoint

00:26:12or from an athletic standpoint.

00:26:14Here we go up to the top, watch this now.

00:26:16Look at this, look at this, very impressive.

00:26:20These headbangers are very impressive.

00:26:22Right as impressive as Saturday nights on USA, ladies and gentlemen.

00:27:13Shawn Michaels, without a doubt, is the most valuable player in the WWE.

00:27:22He may not be the most popular guy in the locker room, but, you know, who cares?

00:30:59And this time, unfortunately for me, it's much more serious than it was last time.

00:31:11I've never had a doctor look me in the face

00:31:17and say that I may never be able to wrestle again.

00:31:24And I was told that the other day.

00:31:29Of course, you know, it's not something that I believe.

00:31:35But the fact is it's something that I have to deal with.

00:31:41Time has taken its toll on on my body.

00:31:47And I know you're just as disappointed, more so than anyone else,

00:31:55that you are not defending the WF championship against Psycho Sid,

00:31:59or for that matter, whomever would have been stacked up against you.

00:32:03And no one has taken on more challengers.

00:32:08No one in the history who's ever won this championship belt has ever had the schedule,

00:32:14has ever had to endure the kind of schedule that you have so readily taken upon yourself.

00:32:20Well, there's one thing about me is that I can't do anything halfway.

00:32:24And I, you know, I come here and I hear the people and they chant Sid's name

00:32:29or they chant Brett's name and they chant a lot of people's name.

00:32:33And one thing is for sure, you're gonna have all of that in the future.

00:32:40And that's what I want for the World Wrestling Federation fans.

00:32:45In spite of what people may think about me, what I've always wanted for all these people

00:32:51is for them to have a good time and to enjoy themselves.

00:32:55I've always tried to be the one to provide it, whether it was on the good side or the bad side.

00:33:01But what was always most important to me was the performance.

00:33:09It was the performance so that these people, each time they reached in their pocket

00:33:15and they paid to get a WWF ticket, they didn't regret it because they knew

00:33:20that if they saw my name on the card, they could come and they could cheer and they could boo

00:33:27and they could do whatever they wanted as long as they had a good time.

00:33:32Over the last couple of months, there's been a lot of talk of people having bad attitudes

00:33:39and a lot revolving around this belt.

00:33:43All I know today is that one thing that's not gonna revolve around this belt for a long time

00:33:51is going to be Shawn Michaels.

00:33:54I don't know where I'm at right now. I have to have everything checked.

00:34:03I may be beyond reconstructive knee surgery. I may or may not be able to fix it.

00:34:10But if I can't come back and perform at the level that I performed at before, I can't perform.

00:34:22I can't come out here and just go half-ass.

00:34:28I have to come out here and I have to romp and stop and I have to get tossed around.

00:34:33I have to toss people around and I have to have fun.

00:34:37The schedule over the last year, I took on because I didn't feel like I could say no.

00:34:43I wanted to do everything. I wanted to enjoy my life as the WWF champion.

00:34:50I wanted to ride in Lear jets and I wanted to ride in limousines and I wanted to be on TV shows

00:34:58and I wanted to do autograph sessions and I got to do every bit of that.

00:35:03And if nothing else, I have all of that to take with me.

00:35:08But again, and I know right now we're in the middle of a time where toughness is real big here in the World Wrestling Federation.

00:35:18And unfortunately, all I've got right now for you is a lot of sorrow, a lot of tears, a lot of emotion.

00:35:26I don't have any toughness for anybody.

00:35:29So I guess, you know, here you go. Here's your belt.

00:35:37And what I'm gonna do is go back home and see what's left for me, whether it be in this ring, whether it be out of this ring.

00:35:55I know that over the last several months, I've lost a lot of things and one of them has been my smile.

00:36:03And I know it doesn't mean a whole lot to everybody else, but it means a lot to me.

00:36:09So I have to go back and fix myself and take care of myself and I have to go back and I have to find my smile

00:36:19because somewhere along the line, I lost it and I don't care really.

00:36:25I don't care if it's unpopular.

00:36:27I don't care if people want to make fun of me because I'm an emotional guy.

00:36:32But this is this is all I've ever wanted to do.
