00:01The bus is here!
00:03The bus is here!
00:10In spite of coronavirus, in spite of economic challenges,
00:13in spite of racism and police violence,
00:16in spite of everything that we are facing,
00:18here you are!
00:20Still standing!
00:22If you don't know nothing else, know this.
00:24You matter, you are love, and you've got power.
00:30Well, members of the Black Voters Matter Fund
00:33are making stops in 14 states.
00:35It's a national outreach initiative
00:37all about encouraging people to get out and vote.
00:40You can't miss it. The blackest bus in America.
00:43Spread the word.
00:44Well, we say the blackest bus in America.
00:46We wanted it to be the bus that affirmed black people.
00:50We want it to be the bus that got black folks excited, right?
00:53How y'all doing, Montgomery?
00:55We gonna vote in rockin' numbers!
01:00We gonna vote!
01:02We gonna vote!
01:03We gonna vote!
01:04We gonna vote!
01:05We gonna vote!
01:06People break down in song and dance.
01:08People break down crying because of just the imagery that's on the bus.
01:12Their goal?
01:13To bring a message of power and hope to minority communities
01:16in smaller cities and towns,
01:18which can many times be ignored by political parties.
01:21They also work to fight what organizers call voter suppression.
01:26We have the kind of power that is merged with love.
01:29We're talking about righteous power.
01:31We need that kind of power.
01:33We deserve that kind of power.
01:35I'm gonna tell you one other thing.
01:36We got that kind of power.
01:38Darkness cannot survive if light comes in the room.
01:41And so we've got to be a light unto the world.
01:44We're traveling through the states that are essentially the former Confederacy.
01:50What arguably still is hostile territory.
01:53We've been through a lot.
01:54People are tired.
01:55People are sick.
01:56People are literally dying.
01:57We got attacks on the postal service.
01:59The moving of polling places.
02:01The restrictions and the photo ID.
02:03What the fuck?
02:12There is no reason, in the middle of this rain,
02:15for that house to catch fire.
02:21No, no, they need to come get us.
02:22We're not staying here.
02:24So that's what we're gonna have to do.
02:26We're gonna have to save them high-level hotels.
02:28They're used to seeing high-level folks that they got security.
02:31So that's what we're gonna have to go to.
02:33Because a bus can be secured.
02:34Any number of people saw the blackest bus in America
02:38pull up and drop a couple people off at this house.
02:41What we do is not a joke.
02:43It's just not a joke.
02:48You know, they put the fire out.
02:50They sent the arson team.
02:51They're still investigating.
02:53You know, the primary purpose was intimidation and fear.
02:56They were trying to send a message.
02:58Racism is damn traumatic.
03:00I mean, just damn traumatic.
03:03Like, why the hell we gotta go through this, right?
03:05I'm mad.
03:07Um, I'm scared.
03:09Um, you know, I feel determined, too.
03:12I mean, we ain't about to go nowhere.
03:14We can't stop, won't stop.
03:15So we ain't about to stop.
03:16We're about to stop.
03:17We're about to stop.
03:19We're about to stop.
03:20Amen.
