00:00Tell us a bit about why we are here today and what are we celebrating?
00:08As Golf Preschool was operated by Early Years Alliance
00:12and back in July they decided to close down
00:16mainly what was in the papers was due to the government funding
00:20and so many other challenges the sector is facing
00:24so we decided to take care of and save the preschool
00:30and for the community and for the children
00:32so we came here back in July and signed the lease
00:38and then we TPM of all the staff and we had to renovate the whole building
00:44the building needed a lot of work doing so we invested that money
00:48and got it up and running
00:50So you thought it was really important for the community to try and save us?
00:53The main factor was because we are the largest child care provider in Peterborough
00:58and we felt that it is very important to save the preschool for the community
01:03and all the children who have been coming here
01:05and for the school and for everyone around
01:09I want you to tell us a bit about the work that's gone on inside the building
01:12So the mobile was due to be demolished
01:15however there was a huge investment for us to completely renovate as Eunice has said
01:22the whole building
01:24so it's had a full facelift from the front
01:27all the interior
01:29new flooring
01:31all been painted
01:33lots of new exciting resources for the children
01:36so yeah, it's looking beautiful in there
01:41would you tell us a bit about the nursery you've seen today
01:44and all the work that's been in?
01:45It's been brilliant seeing the new facilities and the open day
01:48and meeting parents
01:49especially after all of the concerns we had earlier in the summer
01:52there was a real anxiety and fear
01:55earlier in the year when the previous provider said they were going to shut down
01:58last note for the late minute notice
02:00and I know myself, Councillor Katie at local counsellors
02:02got lots of parents contacting us
02:04wanting to know what was going to happen
02:06what provision would be available for their parents
02:09so it's absolutely amazing
02:11that we haven't just got a new provider doing an open day today
02:14but that they've done up, modernised, updated
02:17made it look like a beautiful, beautiful setting
02:20that any parent would want to have their children in
02:23and it's full
02:24this nursery will now be serving more children
02:27than it's ever done before
02:29and that's because of the investment that the providers put into it
02:32but also because we've got something great here in Breton
02:34and it deserves the facilities and so do the parents
02:37It's really important for people isn't it
02:38because there was around 60 children here
02:40so the parents, when the nursery was going to close
02:43they didn't know where to turn?
02:44No, early years education is vital
02:46to ensure that children have a good start in life
02:49I think they say the first thousand days of a child's life
02:52is the most important
02:53the quality and the input that Star's nursery have put into this site
02:57shows that they are investing in children here in Peterborough
03:00and it's this Labour-led coalition importance
03:03that children here thrive in Peterborough and Breton
03:06not just survive
03:07And what do we think of the building itself?
03:09It's a lot different from when you've previously been here
03:11As I just said, the transformation is amazing
03:13the speed at which they have done that is phenomenal
03:16and I look forward to seeing it grow in the future
03:19Cool, brilliant, yeah
